View Full Version : Ebay prevents sending your email address to others

Anyone know if this is new, as I'm sure I've done this in the last few months?

I tried to send my paypal email to someone for a refund, and every creative attempt I tried to send it, the ebay system kept recognising my camouflage efforts and rejected the message with a big warning against including an email address.

Ultimately I sent him a link to one of my collection sites that has my email address on it, and told him to get it from there.

If this is new, it is worth noting to others... but if it isn't new, I figured it was worth pointing out that I was oblivious of it. :p

i went through this a couple of months ago. i did disguise my email using the phonetic alphabet and worked.

yeah if you get through you can by-pass ebay and it's fees altogether (if you're the seller)

yeah its been in for quite a while - I had someone write their email address on a piece of paper and then they took a photo of it and then attached the photo to a ebay message - ebay had them totally beat :D

apart from evading eBay fees, why would you want to send someone your email address through eBay?

I used to check the send message to my email option until if felt like the other person would then be able to see my email message, I received a direct email or two once.

Only reason would be to bypass ebay and wander into the realm of scammers "Just wire US$120 to me and I'll send the item to you right away. And don't forget to mark the transaction as gift."

I had a private transaction so I just asked the seller to send me an invoice thru my paypal email address.

Had problems sending it thru even with spaces and wording of @ (at) and . (dot)

His feedback was high enough and it was just a cheap transaction anyway.

A fool and his money are easily separated! :D

i've done it a few times. i just ask for a detailed invoice sent through to my paypal account. I've had no dramas so far. & the email block is easy enough to avoid once you find the correct combination
