Another Hasbro Masterpiece coming out this year is Prowl, which looks to be similar to the Japanese release.
The price in America is US$60, which is the same as Grimlock, but should be cheaper here than Grimlock, at AU$100 (around July).

So, will you be buying the 2014 Hasbro MP-04 Prowl toy here?
- Yes, at the full $100 price in case it sells out before a sale
- Yes, but only if it goes on sale for $80
- Yes, but only if it goes on sale for $60
- No, I will import it online
- No, I already have the Japanese version
- No, I'm not even interested in it

This. I would have bought the Hasbro version, but,
1) The Hasbro version wasn't even hinted at being a possibility when the Takara version was released.
2) Past MP releases have had woeful distribution and availability at Toys R Us making it almost impossible to find one when they are released.
3) That price is insulting. I imported a Takara version for significantly less than $100. Once you factor in the cost of driving around (time and petrol/wear and tear on vehicle), why would I buy the Hasbro version?

I'm mighty glad that I preordered the TakaraTOMY version and got it for half the price of the AU RRP for this toy!

I've got Takara version, but if it's around $80-90 and I see it on the shelves after a while I'll buy it to encourage TRU to keep doing this. I don't want a repeat of Ghost Starscream.

At SupaNova I noticed that the MP Nissans all sold for $90 each, which is only $10 shy of Toys R Us' price for the Hasbro version here. But surprisingly, even at that massively inflated price, they all sold really well as I noticed just a few left at the end of the day -- and Prowl was completely sold out!
So... maybe people are willing to pay these hiked up prices for these toys, and TRU knows it so they're going to charge accordingly. Weird...

I bought the tt versions.
Both Trent and Gok make good points and observations.

While the $100 may be only a little more than the $90 that you saw charged at Supernova, it doesn't factor in the costs of running around to actually find one. With Soundwave, I had to go to Campbelltown TRU to find one. That's almost an hour up the road, so 2 hours there and back and about another $20-$30 in petrol. So for Prowl that'd be at least $120 all up
Whereas I got him delivered to my door for about $80 and I could have had it cheaper if I had selected slower shipping and a cheaper online shop.
I'm not denying that people out there will pay $100 for it. Just that I won't be one of them :)

I voted yes but its actually a maybe for me. I am only considering buying him because my Takara version has stuffed paint. I don't want to run the risk importing another version that is stuffed since i was unable to get any help resolving my issue as the seller told me they are all like that... BS! Mine had half the side window covered in white paint, the door had a white paint smear and two large finger prints had taken chunks of the paint off on the rear quarter panels. Yes ebay seller, they are all like that...
I paid $82 AUD all up including paypal charges for my Takara version so $100 from TRU is not a huge step up if he is easily available. However if I cant find him like happened with TRU Thundercracker (sold out everywhere when I went to buy him) I am not going out to the boonies to hunt him down, I will live with my existing version.

where do you get you super good price masterpieces from.. and how come you dont run a group order to help everyone out :p
i was late to the party with the masterpiece cars and $90 i thought was a good price considering i didnt need to trawl through ebay listings where there is all sorts of price ranges bootlegs and stupid postage costs so $90 is an acceptable stretch going much higher isnt..

1. Amazon Japan via a friend in Japan.
2. I used to, but there was a guy who ordered heaps and refused to pay, leaving my friend out of pocket by over AU$1000. :( So he's understandably decided not to do that anymore.
There are other reasonably cheap sources for people who don't have access to a Japanese address, such as Amiami and HLJ (I've preordered my MP Ultra Magnus from HLJ :o).

I already own the TT version.
Now if the mold was quite different to the TT version, I probably would. Like I did for Thundercracker.

I got my Takara one for $60 shipped from Japan, then I decided I wanted the missiles and spent $30 on them. One instance I should have gone with the more expensive HK release.
As for the Hasbro version I wonder if it's so expensive compared to Takara's because Hasbro doesn't have Tomica to get good rates.

I'm tempted to get one - I missed the initial run, and even with a few of them 'reasonably' priced around $80, news of the KOs hitting eBay has made me wary. I went with the $80 option.
I'd like to take a look at one in person before buying, though.
