According to an article in the LA Times (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/transformers-4-age-of-extinction-possible-new-robot-name-revealed-180347/), the GM Trax will be another robot in the movie, called Trax... purely to promote the SUV to American and Chinese markets.
(most of the cars are product placements, but this is more in line with the Twins from TF2, being a more affordable vehicle for the common folk)
The "Transformers" franchise is uniquely suited to automotive product placement because many main characters are cars that change into robots. In the film, a Trax transforms into a robot of the same name. The car appears in a portion of the movie that was shot and takes place in China.
We haven't heard anything about a toy yet, so this could just be a short "cameo" for the GM retailers to use for promotions.
