Sorry if it looked like it was aimed just at you. My note was a general notice (spaced away from my reply to your post), to anyone who might want to go to the other extreme (like the over-sized writing). It just wasn't necessary to make an example of anyone or chase after people as it hadn't escalated yet.
Some people might be genuine and sincere with spoiler warnings. But others might be having some harmless fun or doing it intentionally to make a point... and those can be interpreted as being patronising to those people who came to me with a legitimate query.
Just keep doing things the way it used to be, was the result of the poll, so there shouldn't be any need to change behaviour, particularly to the other extreme if there wasn't a demand for it.
okay, cool.
just to be clear to anyone, my original spoilers were genuine, the super spoiler about the coin which was at the end of the post was a joke.

Here is MP Ultra Magnus' bio. Note that this is not a translation of TakaraTOMY MP22's bio. The original bio is based on the Japanese version of G1 Ultra Magnus, and makes explicit references to events that only occurred in Japanese G1 continuity (e.g. Scramble City). I discussed it with Hasbro, and they agreed with my proposal to simply write up a whole new bio based on the Anglophone version of the character. I used Ultra Magnus' original 1986 tech specs and Marvel TFU profile as the basis for the bio. Hasbro also asked me if I could give Ultra Magnus' weapon a better name, as they weren't fond of TakTOM's "Super Laser Blaster." However, the only reference to the weapon I could find from an English language source was the original instruction booklet, which calls it "laser gun." Consequently I decided to fabricate a new name for the weapon that is also a reference to IDW Ultra Magnus. I pitched this idea at Hasbro, and they approved it. :) For any purists, the name of the weapon is immediately followed by the words "laser gun," and in the contents page I have labelled it as just "laser gun."

P.S.: Yes, I've noticed the grammatical error I made with "possess" instead of "possesses." :( The additional space before the 's in "Prime's" didn't come from me though -- I initially wrote it as "Prime's," but the draft that I received (which is what this is grabbed from) was done by Hasbro Hong Kong, who typed it as "Prime 's". Oopsies. :p :o

Looks fantastic! My only real concern before release was the shoulder hinges being strong enough, but they look like they will perform well. I don't think many would have been expecting waist articulation if you'd tried to figure out the transformation from photos beforehand.
You can see why the butt flap is the way it is as well. I bet they considered folding it in half to decrease the size, but that would have resulted in either a white flap on his back (not cartoon accurate), or if they folded it the other way, probably an unsightly hinge in truck mode, and maybe even a peg on the roof as well to stop it folding down by itself. I think they made the right decision, and those who don't like it can just swing it back anyway.

This may be a silly question, but does the TakTom MP Ultra Magnus come with a Matrix? He's got the matrix holding hands (as above) and I've seen pictures of him holding a matrix and a matrix holder in his chest, but does he have his own? Or does he have to borrow MP10 Optimus Prime's matrix? :o

From what I've read you need to borrow the matrix from your Optimus or Rodimus. (both variants/sizes will fit for Magnus)

Alright, I just spent most of my morning translating MP22's bio. :o Here is the original Japanese version:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/masterpiece%20ultra%20magnus/mp_magnus_biojp_zps0b33012c.jpg
And here is my translation. Enjoy.
Ultra Magnus toured the ravaged areas of Cybertron, as a Stampbot Ultra Magnus marked his army's emblem in his role as an administrative official. A magnificent warrior, Ultra Magnus was assigned to Earth where he took command of the Scramble City project, which saw the completion of the wondrous giant city robot, Metroplex. Afterwards, Optimus Prime appointed Ultra Magnus as the next commander, but for whatever reason, Ultra Magnus was not chosen by the Matrix. Ultra Magnus acted as an interim commander until he handed command over to the one who had been chosen by the Matrix, Rodimus Prime. From then on, Ultra Magnus used his experience to support the young commander. Ultra Magnus was given the authority to command, but he did not feel that he had the ability to do so, acknowledging that he was just a soldier. For this reason, Ultra Magnus was supportive, always around to listen to the complaints of a worried Rodimus Prime. Seeing Rodimus Prime's talents, Ultra Magnus became respectful and loyal towards him. In his later years, Ultra Magnus, along with Metroplex whom he'd constructed, charged himself with defending Earth, which he loved and died for. His body was buried in the Earth's ocean. However, many decades later, a resurrected Optimus Prime used the Matrix to rebuild Ultra Magnus. Returning as Laser Ultra Magnus, he stood against threats from across the galaxy. Ultra Magnus' motto is, "Fairness is victory." Possessing a just and seriously strong will, Ultra Magnus is a heroic warrior who is beyond reproach and is willing to sacrifice himself for others. Respected by his enemy, Cyclonus, and adored by his fellow Autobots. While lacking in humour, Ultra Magnus is a Transformer who abounds in excellence.

Well it kinds of contradicts, because prime is wise and has been with the matrix, and he chooses who to take the leadership. So technically you be saying prime has poor judgement. As he chose Magnus to lead and hold the matrix it is relevant as he did not expect hot rod to lead.
You cannot say Magnus was not at all worthy or he wouldn't be carrying it for the autobots regardless the matrix chooses to open.
Arguably, it was just not the darkest hour. :)
I am not going into this debate. Yes he can't open the matrix, I will stop there.

If it going to the technical base then I say it out now, if he is totally not worthy why even bother to make the toy to fit the matrix.
Not debating whether a matrix is included or not. Just pointing out he was worth carrying it.

I caved and watched a video review on Magnus. I'm in love...:p
Kobayashi has certainly kept the overall design style in line with what Hasui had created, and added into his signature engineering ingenuity without over-complicating the transformation. The little twists and turns on the shoulders are a really nice touch.
This figure swept away all my doubts about Kobayashi taking over the MP line again. Look forward to what he has to offer in the future.

re:「敵であるサイクロナスにも」
The word 敵 ('teki') means "enemy." There isn't actually a word for "nemesis," as it's the name of a Greek Goddess (Νέμεσις) which has come to be synonymous with 'arch-enemy' in English. Japanese translations for "archenemy" include:
大敵 ('taiteki' lit. "great enemy")
勁敵 ('keiteki' lit. "powerful enemy")
強敵 ('kyouteki' lit. "strong enemy")
勍敵 ('keiteki' lit. "mighty enemy")
The Japanese word for "Nemesis" is ネメシス ('nemeshisu', but that refers to the Goddess and isn't synonymous with 'archenemy' in Japanese.

Anime Export is closed for Japanese holidays & wont be open for business til 4th January. :( Yet HLJ is shipping orders.
That's because there's no public holidays in December except for the 23rd which was the Emperor's Birthday. There are no public hols for Xmas. The only public holiday for New Year's is 1/1, then on 12/1 for Coming of Age Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coming_of_Age_Day). So it seems that HLJ are still running as usual on all days that aren't national holidays, whereas Anime Export may have decided to give themselves an extended holiday, but that's not unusual either. Several companies in Japan elect to give themselves a 年末年始休業 ("year-end/new year's break"). TakaraTOMY's closed (http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/support/other.html) from tomorrow and doesn't re-open until 5/1. :o

Just like in the G1 cartoon, Convoy's trailer appears from nowhere when he turns into truck mode. Nice touch. ;)

It's close enough... and maybe that was all the people in charge of the commercial had on hand at the time.
There's no need to be picky on everything you know, as it is upsetting people in the way that you do are doing it.
It is actually okay to just let some things go without a comment or "correction". :)

The intention of the video was to showcase MP22 Ultra Magnus. It includes enough other MP Autobots to demonstrate:
* How MP22 scales w/ the MP Autobot Cars in vehicle and robot mode
* How MP22 scales w/ an MP Autbot mini-car in vehicle and robot mode
* How MP22 scales w/ MP10 & also how it looks (e.g. how both Freightliner FL86 truck cabs look the same despite being completely different toys :))
* How MP22's trailer interacts w/ MP Autobot Cars and comparing it w/ MP10's trailer interaction
* MP22's transformation

Can anyone who has Magnus confirm if his arm ramp can go flush with the feet/ramp so the cars can drive up it like the G1 toy? All the promotional pictures and reviews I've seen no one has demonstrated it. The G1 toy you not only have to point the arms down but bend the elbow joint to achieve this. I notice the elbow joint is in the same place for the MP version but no one has bent it to to show it off the cars have to jump to get on the ramp.

Hehehehehehehehehehehehe.
I have an MP Ultra Magnus! I've been waiting for this for a while :)
Anyway, to the point:
The good far outweighs the bad. His size is awesome. He is just so imposing. His proportions are perfect. He looks like he stepped right out of the cartoon.
I managed to remove the gap between his ramps and shuns by sliding the ramps past the tab that holds them. They now sit flush against his shins :)
And some bad:
Very bland. Could have used more paint apps to liven him up a bit.
My copy has trouble tabbing the arms together in alt mode. It takes quite a bit of fiddling to get it to stay in position.
He has very limited shoulder articulation. It is somewhat helped by the transformation pivot but still not ideal.
No waist articulation.
Matrix holding hand is a bit of a cheat. I was a little disappointed at this for some reason.
That'll do for now. Sorry for the pinkish photos. I was looking after the little fella while taking these and didn't realise the white balance was all screwed up. Plus I don't have the time to fix it in Photoshop :o

I'm not seeing any "Pink" at all via my tablet Trent, your shots look amazing. :D
He's a beefcake huh? - A poseable one though but I dig the diecast slabs he has for "toes", he feels to me like his heft starts solidly from his base and tapers gradually as you move up.
I've transformed him once thus far and found him to be entirely intuitive, instructions are wholly unnecessary too as tabs and hinged-panels all seem to be exactly where you expect them to be. :)
I look forward to seeing more of your shots when you've got the time mate - he does have some bland spots that I think are exacerbated by his sheer size, but for a big bloke MP Magnus sure does hold up to the preceding car bots and deserves plenty of coverage. ;)

Actually, HLJ are also closed from 28/12~5/1. It's just that for any orders that HLJ were posted before they took a break would be in transit, as that is the work of the postal service(s). Also, HLJ are a bit more expensive than Anime Export (although HLJ only charges you once the toy is ready to be shipped, as opposed to AE's immediate charge upon preorder).

He's referring to the Battle Station Mode. It's something that Diaclone Powered Convoy had, but was not included in G1 Ultra Magnus' instructions, but obviously the original G1 Ultra Magnus toy could do it anyway (same w/ Battle Convoy/Optimus Prime's standing repair bay mode).

Which is possibly why Hasbro omitted them for Ultra Magnus (http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/instructions/autobot/1986/instr_ultra_magnus.jpg). ;) I guess it was just part of the 80s Japanese mecha thing to give them intermediate modes. Jetfire's Gerwalk mode is arguably a mis-transformed jet, although that is actually shown in G1 Jetfire's instructions (http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/instructions/autobot/1985/instr_jetfire.jpg) (see: "Alternate transformation").
Anyway, here's a photo of the Battle station mode (http://diaclone.net/orid/dia057/pcon01.jpg). Also, there's an alternate variation of the Battle station mode with the ramps pointed forward as shown here (http://www.cybernetspacecube.com/tftm/images/toys/diaclone_powered_convoy.jpg).

I've yet to see a screenshot of the arms sitting flush to the ramp as well as they do on the original G1 toy the closest I can get the MP to do it is by bending the elbow and it creates a very steep ramp and still isn't as good as the G1 toy. Even the stop motion masterpiece video they don't do it and all the reviews I've seen have yet to pull it off.
If this is possible can someone prove me wrong and post a picture of it?

Perhaps someone else on this board isn't interested in keeping their box. <shrugs>

Just out of interest, are Nippon Yasan's boxes marked "Handle With Care"? (cos HLJ's are)

No they arent. Ordered from them a few times and this is the first time this happened. Probably inevitable given how they pack it.
The box was bubble wrapped and literally 2 pieces of news paper pointlessly lined the inside.
The shipping box is small enough to prevent the box from moving on the inside. So it wasnt loose or anything but theres a bit of empty space in there. All they had to do was scrunch up the news paper to create some actual padding and that probably would have been enough to prevent the damage.
Gonna email them about this and let them know to mark handle with care.

HLJ's box have those "air bags" on the top and bottom to stop it from moving, but the sides weren't protected any more than just fitting perfectly into the box. So any severe damage to the sides would have also damaged the side of MP22's box. I guess the "Handle With Care" labels were enough. They're really big w/ the "fragile" logo and is bilingual (Handle With Care/取扱注意). :o

We've all seen those handlers at the airport videos. Handle with care/Fragile sticker or not, to some people it makes zero difference.

Yup, those words are like part of matrix code they see it ever so often that they will not be so particular over your parcel.

Australia Post don't have "handle with care" or "fragile" stickers anymore because everything is automated within Australia... so they can't separate items to guarantee their safety. :(
