The diorama packaging is the best bit... it will be on permanent display in most homes.

Lots of the shiny parts again - it has certainly been "year of the bling".

For anyone worried that Hasbro weren't going to be doing their own Gen1 colours of the Dinobots when we saw the two two Japanese ones.... see, I told you not to worry... but this wont be much cheaper, as SDCC exclusives are hard to get cheap here, and this one is going to be scalped like you wont believe.

A pity about no Sludge/Slog, but the good thing is that the regular release is dark grey and red, so might end up fitting in with this sets as the dark moody one in the back.

If the chrome they use on these guys is anything like the chrome used on mass retail releases, it may flake off if you look at them the wrong way

You go to SDCC (San Diego Comic Convention), or more likely, pay horrific eBay scalper prices.

This should have been a general release. Well at least the chromed dinos should be. It's almost like hasbro don't want money.

If it's anything like the SDCC Bruticus set from last year, it won't end up being all that 'exclusive' as Hasbro and Takara would end up releasing mass market versions of pretty much the same colour a few months after SDCC. You probably won't get the 'paper spaceship' though.;)

I actually think they look pretty horrible in those colours, even with all the chrome. The G1 colour schemes were always uninspired and uninspiring choices, IMO. I'll be sticking with retail.

That is stunning. Too bad I can't afford it, or go to SDCC. I hope they re-release them in the Platinum Edition line with Sludge/Slog like with Bruticus, but they'd probably remove the Ark.

$160 at the convention. Judging from eBay prices for BotCon toys so far, guess around $300+ on the secondary market.

$300? For that much, I'm willing to get myself an airbrush try replicating them myself, especially if Sludge isn't part of the set.
