Hi All,

Just wondering that TF AOE movie is rated M and do you guys reckon it's too much for a 11+ year old and 7+ year old?

Both of them are excited about the movie but I'm worried about the language use on the movie.

Thank you for your input, everyone.

I would say its in-line with the last three films. A bit of sexual innuendo (that really doesn't need to be in the franchise).

I don't think language is a problem. I'd be more concerned with some of the heavy handed actions of the shady government taskforce. Things like holding a gun to the daughter's head to get Cade to give up Optimus Prime, which was pretty prominent in the trailers. Ratchet pleading for his life while he's hunted down and shot to pieces, awful camjob footage. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G5CTeAl_U4).

I feel that film does drop the F-bomb more frequently than the previous ones.
Here are scenes which I personally chose to cover my 5-year-old's eyes up for:

* In the scene where Cade & Co. have jumped out of the car park in Shane's car and are attacked by Lockdown, Lucas (bearded hippie) fails to escape from the blast which completely incinerates him and leaves a gruesome standing burnt out corpse
* In the fight scene between Optimus Prime and Lockdown -- it ends with Optimus Prime cleaving Lockdown in half

And I found that my daughter was particularly scared when:
* When Cemetery Wind (the taskforce) come onto Cade's property and attack Cade & Tessa
* When Tessa is getting out of the car inside Lockdown's ship, and she's attacked by those oogly-eyed drone-bots and has to kick them away
* Any scene where the Steeljaws (cybernetic wolf-like creatures) appear
* The close-quarter fight between Cade and Savoy (Cemetery Wind commander) inside the flat in Hong Kong.

I let my daughter bring Slumblebee along and told her to hug him extra tight if she got scared, and both my wife and I were sitting on either side of her, so she hugged onto either of us as well. ;)

Optimus Prime shoots Kelsey Grammar in the chest. Violence doesn't seem as violent to kids when it's robot on robot.

Heh, that was another scene that I covered up my daughter's eyes for. ;)

There was just one F bomb wasn't there? ("What is Chinese for GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY")

There was a lot less visceral robot on robot violence in this one compared to DotM - but then my friends and I started a gratuitous robot decapitation drinking game for DotM so I suppose it was at a peak in that film.

Too much, but its up to the parents. This was a way more serious movie in many levels.

In HONESTY I will let my kids watch the cartoon versions first and see how they cope with prime's death before introducing a movie action flim.
