We know that Hasbro's MPs differ from TakaraTOMY's, and I think that's a good thing because it helps to differentiate them from TakTOM's and could potentially offer improvements over Takara's version (e.g. MP Starscream, MP Grimlock for people who prefer G1 comics > cartoon, MP Soundwave for people who prefer toy-accurate colours etc.). So, hypothetically speaking, if you were Hasbro, what changes would you make to a TakaraTOMY MP for their release in Hasbro markets?
Here's what I would do:
* Silverstreak = use Diaclone colours. TakaraTOMY's already done the cartoon colours and even the original toy colours, all that's left is the Diaclone colours which of course were the colours used on Bluestreak's box/tech specs art, stock photos etc.
* Red Alert = black helmet. I'm kinda shooting myself in the foot here, because I don't have the TakTOM MP Red Alert, so a Hasbro version would be ideal for me -- and I personally would actually want the red helmet... but personal bias aside, if I were Hasbro, I'd release it with a black helmet to make it more G1 toy accurate. Hasbro already did this with Universe Red Alert (whereas Henkei Alert had a red helmet). :o
* Bumblebee = shorter horns. Bumblebee's horn length varied between different episodes, but there were times when he sported shorter horns (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/4/1/8/2/Bumblebee_1402073714.jpg). Hasbro has retooled MPs before for their own releases (e.g. MP Grimlock, or even MP Rodimus w/ Overshoot, a whole new accessory), so the idea of retooling the horns is within the realms of possibility IMHO. They could also make the forearms black, as they appeared in the G1 comics (http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/5/5a/Fangrybumblebeeghosts.jpg). I would also include the Amazon exclusive mask, but paint it all yellow -- that would not only differentiate it from the original, but also be more comic accurate (http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/0/0b/Bumblebeemarvel1.jpg). I would also include a sticker for Bumblebee's chest, as seen on Bumblebee's original card art (http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/focus3.asp?CharName=Bumblebee&CharCoat=Autobot&CharSub=1984), and some other G1 media (http://www.ditko-fever.com/booksttbttrcb.gif). The sticker would come separately and need to be user applied, thus giving the owner the option of whether or not they wanted to apply it (much like the bonus stickers included with Hasbro's MP Rodimus).
* Smokescreen = fill in the holes on the front of the vehicle! I would also consider changing the eye colour to yellow, as per Smokescreen's G1 box art (http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/9/98190/1884592-smokescreen.jpg).
* Ultra Magnus = toy accurate silver chrome bumper and G1 box-art accurate (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MD06Y1lLlAo/UkssMgRCNEI/AAAAAAAAXJY/N73Mh_vPfzg/s1600/TAKARA_TRANSFORMERS_MASTERPIECE_MP-22_ULTRA_MAGNUE_WITH_TRAILER_PERFECT_EDITION_01.jp g) yellow eyes.
