From what I can see in the pics, does this mean they have mini partners or something that transform into the bigger bots weapon?

If his height is 19cm tall, assuming that's to the top of the head? - I guesstimate that he could be somewhere between 30cm to 40cm long!:D

At 190mm, he should be on the tall side of classics scale.

And while it definitely has a different aesthetic to FoC, I'm not entirely sure it looks classics-y enough for me (I never thought I'd say that about Fansproject either).

The partners seem a bit tacked on and unnecessary though - although a throwback to the original drivers.

Maybe it's Paddles.

Was discussing this on Twitter earlier. Paddles seems to be the first guess (first official add on to the G1 Dinobot team). There's the medic in the IDW comics too who I forget.

My best guess is it will be a G1 version of an AOE Dinobot, the most highprofile of "add on" Dinobots. And of the two it'd be most likely Scorn, who is in the movie and a big dinosaur, rather than Slash, who's not in the movie and a small dino.

A spinosaurus transformer would be not too disimilar to a T-Rex, and LER-04 and LER-05 look like they have similar body shapes.

Paulbot
11th July 2014, 05:00 PM
Interesting bit of speculation of TFW is that if they wanted to repaint these guys as Dinoforce, the six bots and the "riders" make more sense.

In which case the missing one might indeed be Ankylosaurus (holding a club in robot mode).

Argh! - Seriously considering cancelling my Fanstoys Soar preorder in order to get in on this line :o, Sludge is (Like many it seems :D) my favourite Dinobot and I simply can't justify getting both Classics AND Masterpiece iterations of the Dinobots for both financial & space reasons. :(

I'd still be likely to pickup a WFC/FoC & Masterpiece Sludge, in addition to going whole-hog on these FansProject Dinobots, however - I really dig that these come with Dino-Riding Targetmasters (You're damn right SpiderKen17 :D) and that they're clearly going to be of a substantial size.

Very curious to see what this mystery 6th member is though; I too reckon it's going to be an Ankylosaurus, based primarily on the seeming Club-like weapon, but also as Paulbot points out it'd work perfectly for an eventual Dinoforce/Dinoking repaint of the set. ;):)

An Ankylosaurus or Spinosaurus would both be awesome. Looking forward to this line, I just hope they are less fiddly than some of the Causality toys.

Club weapon, doesn't really look like a Sludge-type body-shape (i.e. probably not a remold, which makes sense cost-wise), with visible non-flipper-y feet on the bot-mode arms in the silhouette.
There is this not-Sludge remold from Mechaform though. (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/993798-mechaform-mf-02-paddle-3rd-party-dinobot-paddles.html)

Hmm, i went from "nice but not gonna sign up for what will be about 800 bucks for the whole set"... to seeing that review, and starting to think "oh hey, it'll take years for them to release the lot anyway!"... to then realising that i prefer the Diaclone version ... mostly the chest plate, which really brings out the molding and gives a much better contrast.

http://i.imgur.com/bEKFniW.jpg

... but i don't really care for the gold chrome and $ markup/difficulty obtaining ... nor that he wouldn't match the rest of the standard team members. But now if i get the standard one i'll always be wishing it had the Diaclone version's chest! First world problems :D

That Mechaform Paddles looks to me can pass for the 6th member in G1 style. I wonder how big is it?

FP so far always comes up with the goods but will wait and see coz usually pricing is a hindrance.

Which version is it that combines again? got any links guys?

Man I wish Encore line would resurrect and give us Encore Dinobots. I could go for that definitely!! Even though it'll be my 3rd set, it'll be brand new and shiny so why not heheh.:D

I don't see FP as a smaller budget option to any of the rest though. CHUG-scaled toys with G1 aesthetics is exactly what I was looking for.

For the level of quality that FP releases, their slightly lower price points can only mean they're selling at a much greater quantity (when comparing similar like for like, such as M3 vs Quantron).

Should be much cheaper than $800 Kurdt. TF source has columpio on preorder for $102, and other stores will likely be a little cheaper. Unless some of them are on a different size scale, I figure a little north of $500 plus shipping. But that diaclone verison, it's going for double that on ebay right now.

Wish I knew how many were produced, and whether to bite. I'd love to have a diaclone figure, and don't like the target master weapon on regular columpio anyway.

Keep in mind that FP pricing is kind of similar to Apple in that they dictate what retailers must sell it at so it's standardized across the board. You might see maybe $1 or $2 differences but nothing major. Apparently in-store pre-orders for Columpio at ActionRobo in HK are ~$93 USD or so. Wholesale prices for FP stuff is supposedly extremely high and there is very little profit margin.

It's almost like Hasbro is holding these third party companies at gun-point demanding they produce not-Dinobots to make 2014 the Year of the Dinosaur(s), and advertise their movie.

Happy with the outcome - excellent dino and robot modes. Whilst the plastic quality is still the FP-standard of previous releases, the 'what the' flaws do water down the FP standard for quality.

I think the most annoying transformation are flaps when first flipping the legs out from dino mode. Can't seem to find a way to fluidly transform it without a small amount of resistance (not as bad as the feet of Car Crash and T-Bone, but I dislike resistance or bending hard plastic when transforming). The other annoying transformation is getting the 'wings' over and under the chromed frill (paranoid of scratching the chrome). The hip t-socket is extremely loose on mine (almost able to spin like a helicopter's blades), so I'm not able to unplug the tail and use it for hip rotation.

A sturdy figure, with awesome movement in the shoulders. Really wished they are able to allow the Targetmaster's handle to fold back all the way down. Also, to fix the tightness of his hands when holding the weapon. Lastly, they should have done something about the sword hilt, so he's able to hold the sword properly in a slicing stance.

Lord_Zed
20th January 2015, 06:42 PM
I found Cubrar awesome after Columpio, as he seemed to address almost every major issue I had with Columpio, and the joints on mine are all solid by comparison. The only issues I have are that he can't quite hold his gun secure, while they improved his grip on the sword, the smaller handle of the gun does not seem to benefit.

Also his robo lips are a little odd, like the previous toy.

Can't wait for the next one.

He stands slightly taller than a big voyager in robot mode, and is way more bulky than a voyager would ever be. Don't have a pic on me at the moment.

So I got my back-end of 2014 PoL from BBTS in about a fortnight or so ago and decided to actually delve into it over the past week. :)

Yesterday I took some photos of my latest FansProject acquitions, in the forms of:

Columpio & Drepan
Sigma L
Cubrar & Tekour

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-V9zAgCMAAzq2J.jpg:large

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WG2PICYAANqP7.jpg:large

Rather annoyingly, Tekour seems to like to grip shafts with a greater amount of firmness than I'd of liked, as he refused to relinquish the tip of one of his Axe's handles and the bloody thing ended up sheering off! >_< :(

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-V_z11CEAAwQJI.jpg:large

I decided to focus on Columpio for yesterday's quick shoot, as Sludge was my first ever Dinobot toy as a kid and hence is my favourite also.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WJe43CIAAPw0u.jpg:large

The thing with all 3 figures is that they're all awesome in terms of detail, paint apps and engineering; One can see a clear progression in terms of build quality and design from Columpio to Cubrar, but the former really only suffers from some looser than desired ball joints in the shoulders and hips.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WVXykCMAAbzHF.jpg:large

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WVYnsCEAAJniQ.jpg:large

With that said, this bloke feels great, is more sizeable than what I was expecting with plenty of mass in the right places, all whilst being able to pose WAY better than any Dinobot that preceded it (With the exception perhaps of some of the "Masterpieces" ;)).

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WWGsZCcAAr32M.jpg:large

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WWHenCcAANikJ.jpg:large

Drepan in Bot mode suffers from the WELL publicised protruding proboscis out of his back that is honestly entirely undesirable but as a "Targetmaster" of sorts he's certainly no worse than any of the recent Power Core Combiner Minicons that were supposedly meant to fit the same role.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-WWdXzCQAA3K6x.jpg:large

His Alt mode is somewhat ill-fitted in that he has WAY too much mass to really be considered a proper blade and I think he'd off done better as a straight-up mace or morning-star but he is what he is and in the end I think I would've preferred the "Diaclone" man that came with the Convention Exclusive version of Columpio. :o

Where Drepan shines is as a "Dinorider" for Columpio in Beast mode! :D:D:D

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-W0WLhCQAAyy60.jpg:large

As a HUGE fan of both Transformers Dinobots and the old 80s line Dinoriders, this gimmick hits me squarely on the nostalgia button and is a great carry-over from FansProject's original G1-inspired combiner, the RetroFuture Glacialbots.

Columpio as a Dino looks gorgeous and really nails the look of a modern Sludge brilliantly; the weapon placement, the Rifle even having a degree of transformation itself, is a complete nod to the original toy from the Diaclone-era. ;)

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-W0Vc9CQAApyxW.jpg:large

Just look at this head, ALLL Robo-Diplodocus up in here! :D

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-W0UwCCAAAV8Pr.jpg:large

I'm absolutely in love with this figure, it's exactly what I'd hoped it'd be and apart from a slight issue with ball joint tolerances, I'd say this is the perfect modern take on a G1 Sludge if the Cartoon is more your focus and you're not after a WFC/FOC look or "Masterpiece" figure - Definitely recommended, with & without bias-glasses. :D:cool:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-W0T9KCMAALMnn.jpg:large

I'd hoped to take more photos of what I got today, been a bit busy though so maybe next weekend or something but next up will definitely be Cubrar. ;)

^Great pics and review, mate :)

I got me the convention exclusive FP Sludge and haven't opened that yet.

Cubrar's great... Really tricky to transform from beast to bot.
Hated the panels scraping each other and all that.

It's a pity your Tekour snapped... I was given fair warning of this risk from one of the FB TFs sites about this... Think it was from Daim Choc.
The trick is to pull with gradual force and not to twist, this will prevent the plastic from shearing off.
I've done it once but I won't attempt to place the weapon in Tekour's hand ever again... That grip is just nuts!
