It's in the G1 comic books. The Marvel UK ones to be slightly more obscure ;)

oooh, so that's why I don't get it, haven't read UK version of the G1 comics. So that's why even in Kreo - Ironhide Kreon was the one included in the set with the Constructicons set. Thanks!

That's probably a lucky coincidence, but as Paulbot says, by TFUK #264, the Constructicons can no longer combine into Devastator, so the Decepticons build an Action Master version (that is still gestalt-sized, but can't separate) which is foiled by Ironhide. :)
