I know what I'll be using the code towards.

I wonder how this works on the sellers end? Do they not get that 20% or does ebay give them the missing 20% out of it's account?

So international items won't work with this sale? I'm reading the terms and conditions and it's only for listings in aus eBay, but I've seen on the forums where codes were used for international items too.

DELTAprime

International items should work. I bought an item from Taiwan when they had a Sunday sale on site wide. That was ebay.com.au only also. I guess what they mean is you can't use the code at other ebay sites checkout.

Am I correct in assuming that there is no "limited number" of coupons available this time? If I remember rightly, last ttime there was a 20% off sale, there was only a limited number of coupons.

Ah my bad. I meant for the overall sale. I think last time they said about 60,000 coupons were available in total, and that once they were all used, the sale ended regardless of whether Sunday was fininished or not.

Actually there was a limit on the number of coupons for the site wide ebay sale. 60,000. But I was able to use it very late in the sale so they didn't run out early if at all.

Yup but then one of the Ebay reps announced that its going to be time based after all. Anyway here are the T&Cs for tomorrow:

wheekjackslab usually lists under toys; I would expect that it _would_ work. Hopefully it's not the dreaded GSP that's causing the issue (PayPal pays the courier separately from the purchase price when you buy with GSP).

my frieza was under Toys & Hobbies>Action Figures>Anime & Manga
and that worked, however they are situated in Hong Kong.

I tried buying a SDCC vegeta under the same category as frieza but that didn't work. Maybe it's the item location that's the problem, as all the SDCC vegetas are from the US.

could be.

my frieza was under Toys & Hobbies>Action Figures>Anime & Manga
and that worked, however they are situated in Hong Kong.

I tried buying a SDCC vegeta under the same category as frieza but that didn't work. Maybe it's the item location that's the problem, as all the SDCC vegetas are from the US.

I don't thin it's location, it's what intl site the seller posted to. Most US sellers list on .com

Same reason I didn't buy an SDCC TMNT Raphael today.

oh ok. dang...guess i'll have to wait for bbts to stock him. I'm not going to pay the current prices these ebay sellers want for SDCC Vegeta.

you can either add the item to cart and type it in the redemption text box or commit to buy and pay it at checkout in the same text box.

you buying on a mobile? on the desktop version, when you proceed to checkout at the very bottom there's a text box with an apply button next to it directly under "Redemption Code".

Mmm go into the transaction in question and scroll down to " funding source". If there isn't a anything there that compensates 20% of the purchase, then u'll need to contact PayPal.

I'm sure it's what category they have listed it under thats the problem. When I bought a Knights of Unicron set earlier it was listed under TV's Movies Comics and I didn't get the discount. I still went ahead with it because it was the best price including shipping from a seller with a perfect rating I could find.

I've found if you're buying from a seller thats part of the Global Shipping Program, then the sale wont apply the discount. I tried to purchase from wheeljackslab who uses the GSP and the discount wouldnt apply but when I bought from sellers from the UK, US and Netherlands who didn't use the GSP, all applied the discount without a hitch.

U hit the nail on its head. I was finally able to purchase a sdcc vegeta that didn't use the global shipping program.

I have and I've still paid full price.

I got stung by paypal for this as well.

Ebay checkout applied the discount and yet paypal took the whole amount omitting the discount (worth $120)

Spent 2 hours speaking to different paypal operators - one refunded me $20 (thinking it was a $20 off deal instead of 20% off). Explained to him that its 20% (?#%^!!) and he assured me that he'll refund 20% in the next 24 hrs. 15 mins later he refunded another $20(!!). Rang paypal again and this time the lady operator told me the discount is not applicable and the $40 refunded is a goodwill gesture (!!!!!). Was boiling at this point so asked to speak to the manager .. Waited another 15 mins .... Manager has no clue about the discount and was reading the terms and conditions while trying to speak to me.

In the end, they decided to refund the amount probably bcoz i was polite on the line despite my boiling blood internally.

Call paypal to try to get the discount applied. Be nice..

Commercials playing on TV throughout the night, for "20% off toy purchases on ebay Australia" suggest that this could be a weekly thing, because of the way it was worded.
I guess we wait and see if true... and then Sundays become one hell of a fun day for us while the promotion lasts.

Considering the amount of money they are likely to have forked out just with this weekend's while it is only new, I don't think they'd be able to do this every week.
And why just toys I wonder.
It's almost like ebay Australia was targeting the Australian toy industry or Retailers for some ulterior motive... as increased online sales and much of it going to foreign sellers, would ultimately hurt those two industries.

If they run it for a month I'll be happy. Yesterday I finished my beast wars collection and if they continue the sale for the next three weeks I'll be able to finish off a couple more series.

I used the code on a small purchase and it worked great. Couldn't decide on something else, as when I checked out some masterpieces the prices seemed inflated so I just gave up. They are probably doing this promotion to compete with retail toy sales, as well to attract more people to ebay and online purchases. Not only does it attract buyers, it attract sellers to list more. So its really a two way street. I wouldn't say they are losing money as they still collect the final value fees from the sellers when their items sell. They are just not making money, or making as much as usual.

Hope everyone got what they wanted and resolve any issues with the full price debacle for the few who experienced this.

Cool deal, I was looking at a BIN Japanese G1 Scourge w/box but that got bought before I could nab it. I thought about getting that Justitoys boxset of all 5 WST Dinobots, but then the BIN price went up by ~$25 and I lost interest. Good to hear that people managed to get some nice scores though.

Only concern is the MP being KO versions, but they were from reputable sellers stating they were genuine... so fingers crossed

Good luck :) I guess it depends on the price. The KO usually go for $30-40. What a fun time shopping and reading reviews. I did not get much but it was indeed entertaining.

I wouldn't expect eBay are doing this specifically to compete with retail stores; they're doing different things every Sunday it seems. They may have an eye on what the the retail stores are up to & decide what specials to run each week; of course.

I'd be more inclined to say they're trying to drum up business. Given that eBay is covering the 20% (or whatever the discount is for the given promo) I expect it's more about raising awareness of eBay's brand or bringing eBayers who rarely use the site onto the site & getting them more active.

More to that it encourages sellers to list more items, or perhaps sellers who weren't previously on ebay to sign up. Judging by the quantity of stuff I've observed that was previously 'baywarming' getting moved, I'd say sellers are singing praises for ebay.

I think this promotion is in part a way to get people to think of eBay as an online store and place to shop (find items, put in cart, checkout) rather than just bid on things.

Ideally I would get this but I'm not convinced they'll ever revisit g1 as I remember it. It would be a reboot or reimagining. Until it happens, this'll be the best representation I can find.
