There is a lot of info to read, and images to look at, so for those who have a bit of time this morning, or at lunch today, check out the "live" write-up and photos here (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/san-diego-comic-con-33/sdcc-2014-hasbro-transformers-panel-live-180745/).
Looks like there were so many photos taken, they were split into a second posting, covering the Robots in Disguise 2015 toy and cartoon (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/san-diego-comic-con-33/sdcc-2014-hasbro-transformers-panel-pics-part-2-robots-in-disguise-180790/).
(with some more photos of the sample RID-2015 animation here (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/san-diego-comic-con-33/sdcc2014-first-look-at-robots-in-disguise-cartoon-180789/))
As soon as I can digest it all, I'll write up some notes here for people to read that don't have the time to go through all those links.
Okay, brief details of the Presentation Panel....
- Boasting of Movie box-office stats
- promoting their licensing division, which makes them a ton of money these days
- showing the different games out this year on different platforms/formats
- Breakdown of their three main demographics (pre-school, kids, "fan" teen/adult)
- Rescue Bots toys shown (only thing "new" is the unreleased figurine 2-pack of Blades and Dani Burns)
- Battle Masters (new packs shown - Soundwave, Grimlock - no controller included)
- Angry Birds... Two types - Transforming Telepods and Jenga race & crash
- Kreo... "Battle Changers" - convert when built (no rebuilding required) 75-85 pieces, for November.
(Showed - Optimus/truck, Bumblebee/car, Starscream/jet, Grimlock/Dino - all are mostly Gen1 looking)
- Movie gimmick toys (nothing new)
- Movie Construct Bots (nothing new)
- Movie "Generations" (didn't even show anything beyond a graph and size class names)
- Movie Exclusives (nothing new)
- Masterpiece (just the three of this year)
- SDCC exclusives
- Voyager Slog (Sludge) will be an Amazon exclusive for those wanting to complete their set of five Dinobots (from the SDCC 4-pack).
Generations 2015
- started with a video of a couple Hasbro people talking about the new combiners - Superion and Menasor.
Superion - Voyager Silverbolt, DLX Firefly (Fireflight), DLX Alpha Bravo (Slingshot), DLX Air Raid, DLX Skydive, Legends Powerglide (third mode is a gun for Superion).
Menasor - Voyager Motormaster, DLX Dragstrip, DLX Deadend, DLX Breakdown, DLX Offroad (Wildrider), Legends (Blackjack?) (third mode is the chestpiece for Menasor).
IDW will also be focusing on the Combiner theme next year to coincide with the toys (because the DLX toys will keep having comics)
Generations Toy waves
Legends Wave 1
- Powerglide
- Thundercracker (redeco)
- Windcharger
- Bombshell
Deluxe Wave 1
- Firefly
- Skydive
- Alpha Bravo (Slingshot)
- Dragstrip
Deluxe Wave 2
- Air Raid
- Dead End

Voyager Wave 1

- Optimus Prime (same mould as Motormaster - now it makes sense why Optimus had this unusual form when revealed at BotCon... and is obviously a combiner core - art was shown of him with Aerialbot limbs)
Voyager Wave 2
- Motormaster (reworked Optimus)
Rescue Bots
