View Full Version : Reissue of Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime

Tober

From TFW2005

Coming via Transformers Asia, it looks like the Hasbro version of the Masterpiece MP-10 mold will be seeing a reissue in select Asia countries this October 2014. The Hasbro version you may recall was the very difficult to find Toys 'R Us exclusive. Unfortunately no price has been provided yet, so we can only speculate given past Asia exclusive prices.

Makes me wonder if I want to get a hasbro version one or if lucky settle with this.

This info just came before I wanted to bid on one on ebay, you kind of saved me some dollars hopefully but won't be surprised if they release at $300 mark but kind of feel safer than a ebay purchase.

Guess now its hasbro version or taktom version of the reissue...

I guess if its cheap enough and available locally, then i'll go for the cheaper one.

If you waiting on local, your only chance is a tru exclusive in continuation of their renumbered mp series.

Speaking of which, there is no longer a confirmation on the takara reissue as that was false information.

There is a slim possibility that prime will be reissued just like the grimlock pattern here but i wouldn't hold my breath.

For those who didn't know, the ko version was reviewed to be pretty impressive with more detailed paint on the figure, however the no trailer bit is the down side.

It appears that this reissue they are speaking of is on Oct 15.
I would like to see which stores in hk will open their pre-order soon

I was telling the people at Hasbro at Toyfair that they should reissue this, as it was so popular that it would sell out again easily... so hopefully through their partnership with Hasbro HK, this is being done so that it is released here as well.

For a "one-off" premium concept that Masterpiece started out as (one or two per year), we are now getting one or two per month that are new or reissues.
For 2014, we have eight from Japan, five from Hong Kong, and four from Hasbro... a total of 17 in one year.

^ I hope they didn't think yoth version was good enough as to some people they look at it and say is the same thing.

Big question,

Who is interested?

I am in, regardless of the stupid prices, is a risk but I just want to get one and move on. I lost this battle for RRP.

There may be a chance it will appear on TRU exclusive, sometimes when you see things like this is like the factory went "why not?" lets release one at high price before TRU's is released.

Pass. It it was a Takara re-release, I'd be considering it for completion's sake, but I have my Hasbro MP Prime and the box shot in the link is definitely that one.

If it is indeed a straight reissue, old box & all, then it won't fit with their current packaging style.

As Mayza said, Hasbro may decide to reissue it under the new numbering & packaging for a worldwide rererelease

i'd look at the asian online retailers also. You can always cancel your BBTS order.

The cheapest shipping option from BBTS is $59.99, so you're looking at least $240-$220USD ($258-$236 AUD) depending on which shipment month you choose for that particular item.

When RK say they don't like to hold orders too long, has anyone with experience found how long is too long for them? Say someone ordered MP WJ & UM, ranging from September to December in release, would they be okay with that?

Isn't that pretty much standard? I mean they're based in Asia, the stock doesn't have to get from Asia > USA > Australia, so it's bound to be cheaper both on item and shipping from BBTS/RK.

Ahh!

I usually get my MPs through Nexusnixx on the board, but figured I'd go with BBTS for the MP-10 reissue as I can cancel. I've already got the Hasbro one, but would like to finally get a Takara one. Not sure if this is Hasbro or Takara in terms of product and packaging.

I'm always rocking a POL at BBTS, so it comes out a bit cheaper, but the bigger benefit is by taking the slower stock arrival, I can cancel it if it turns out that it's just the Hasbro/TRU version. :)

Well is showing hasbro colours not takara.
If I am not wrong this is the first ever reissue of the hasbro mp-10?
Some people hate it others lover it. Me, I don't think I can complain for $207
In this stage.

Some people will debate the first mould will always be the best and reissues are worthless. But for someone who is going to open and play with it, I couldn't care less.

I think there will be another hasbro release of mp-10 within the next few years, I think i will wait and see what happens before I drop $200 on this reissue, I just got YOTH prime so as much as I want one, I'm not in any rush

Who knows what mps will be in next years line up.
Probably another seeker and small character like sideswipe, red alert, bluestreak, smokescreen, bee or wheel jack and instead of grimlock probably another large character like prime, Magnus or rodimus

But in my case, YOTH is still half the price of what this reissue will be. I paid $109 for YOTH. And I'm happy with that. I also have the first Hasbro MP10 which I paid $150 for on release but he is staying in the box.:D

Likewise he is now half the price of evil bay?
I almost spent $400 to get one as it didn't feel like there was any interest in reissuing mp-10.
I been bitching on the price, guilty as noted, for anyone who hasn't obtain him this is a fair deal. I calculated it to be 19,000 yen delivered and to me it beats paying 35,000yen exclude shipping.

I have yoth as well but I did not open mine and I be selling it off. The yoth version has its own likes as well but overall an original painted version is what I am after. If you already had hasbro and takara then this is not any news for you.
For me, is like a Christmas wish.

Just a matter of time people on ebay realised that there is an rerun going.

It is, is following cartoon accuracy whereas takara is G1 accurate.
My only problem is Takara tony is not reissuing theirs and when Asia hasbro reissue them, it cost an arm unlike the prices here.

I also mention the KO version is actually very nicely painted compared to these two which they both have their ups and downs.

I probably get the takara one down the road if the price is right.

A lot of newbies do not understand what's the big deal about this figure as they had the mp-1 version. Likewise I am guilty of that and hence missed the boat so many times for the takara and by the time you collected so many cars, you realise oh crap.

I missed the original MP-10 Takara release, and I had the same thought. I have MP-01 and MP-04 why would I need this new version. Boy am I glad that I read alot of the reviews and managed to get the Hasbro release for $110, and because I really like it I ended up getting one of the reissues of MP-10.

I also did the same thing with MP-11, cause I already have MP-03, but thanks to Sunstorm I am now a proud owner of a reissue of MP-11.

Same here. :) I already have 2 different MP Starscreams (original MP-3 and the Hasbro version), as well as the MP3 versions of MP Skywarp and Thundercracker... I really couldn't justify getting MP-11. But Sunstorm and Acid Storm have now allowed me to own two versions of the MP-11 mould as new characters. :D I also personally like my original 3 Seekers as MP3s and the two new Seekers as MP11, as it makes the two sets of MP Seekers look distinct from each other. :) I wouldn't mind it if they retooled MP11 for Ramjet, Dirge and Thrust either.

Looks like its not just me who thought i was just gonna get milked for an mp10 when i have an mp1 n 4.

And now i was an mp10.

Been into the darker colour tones lately and special editions only, and love the yoth colour scheme and dig the gold and clear trailer. Does make it look like a premium edition.

This hasbro reissue does look rather toy like. I know its suppose to be more cartoon accurate, but doesn't do it much for me. I would rather go for eva green convoy.

Or wait for diaclone magnus

Hope the taktom one gets reissued… again… and again lol

It will but way over priced by Asia hasbro.
Some people prefer hasbro version over takara.
Me, I am happy with either one.
The ko did attract me as it actually quite well done and better painted of the two.

Some people would mix and match parts and choose what they want.
I will get the takara if it is Japanese rerun.

Just like the reissue of the Masterpiece Grimlock in Asia having a bonus item (that throne), the reissue of the Masterpiece Optimus in Asia is also getting a bonus item... Vector Sigma and the Key (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-masterpiece-47/vector-sigma-free-gift-included-with-transformers-asia-masterpiece-optimus-prime-181322/).

$150 then. Now? Look at eBay and then you will just shut up and order this.
Will it come again? Yeah it could, but is not like this is breaking your pocket at $207 delivered when rates were better.

Not forgetting the whole rushing for it in stores.
And you probably won't get the free gift.
In honestly you can't even compare because you do not know if they are ever going to reissue. Roll a dice, I prefer to pay for this now as compared to takara last version or current ebay pricing.

I am actually okay without them, if it keeps the cost down without I wouldn't mind either. But because I have missed mp-10 due to already having mp-1 and 4 and didn't know that they were going to release so many cars. I think they're switching to Vietnam. I did a quick check and my MP-10B and Jetfire are both made in Vietnam and they're Takara and Hasbro releases respectively.

I think it's to combat the chinese workers that are using their molds to make the knock-offs. It won't be entirely successful but it'll make it a bit more difficult.

I don't know what's the fuss about as the thumb is not mobile and you need to get KFC ones to make it look good. Thus is not perfect as such but is a piece in scale to the cars.

Chances of tru releasing will be high. But is a waiting game. This reissue isn't too costly unlike the takara ones at $300 to begin with.

while mp10 is not as large or imposing as mp01 i feel it "looks" a lot more like the cartoon and looks like a better robot and better truck. but the mp01 oh man i have mp01 mp01b and mp02 and i love these things, im very tempted to track down mp10b to go with mp10 when he arrives. and im tempted to paint over one of my YOTH primes to turn it into mp10 sleep mode (the trailer wont need much work)

I have to get the KFC hands. Mp 10 is good just isn't worth anywhere $300 looking good. I will get a takara one if it reissues by jp or a reasonable hk takara version.

Not at all interested in ko as their fingers are horrid.

How so? BBTS has pile of loot which when stocked would give you fairly cheap shipping on him so would be about that price

I think you missed the point by a mile, I said their pile of loot option which you wouldn't use if you had one item

No they were still more expensive.

You missed the point they are $20 more to begin with.

Pile or not you are still paying more. You need a couple of good deals to justify. I didn't and I got it in hand without needing to wait.

Not to be confused that they are now considered reasonable price.

How is $139 more expensive than what bbts is currently selling?

I understand what is pile of loot, my loot is just mp-10 so show to me how this is cheaper?

Bbts is at $160 +

Air Mail $54.24

Estimated delivery time is 10 to 45 days. Contact local customs office for duty and tax information. Tracking is not included.

Equals more than $207au

The point was if you had a full pile of loot then shipping to add this would be nowhere near $54, it would be like $20. So at $180US it would be around $210AU.
And tracking is included with BBTS

That is all

You tried to how so. I explained it not cheaper and I can almost gurantee you cant get it that price as I worked out from my previous order the rates has gone up. I like to challenge your pile vs my price paid. I believe you going to have a huge pile before you can even match my one piece which was what I really need.

I only buy what I need and in this instance your pile will not work unless I order 5 mp-10s, I only need one, and I do not have anything else I need from bbts. so that's how so.

You clearly stated "if" you have a pile. Yes for anyone who already a current pile. No if your intent was just to buy mp-10

People should be commenting more on the news and their perceived value of the items, rather than worrying about what other people think or value the item, or how much they paid.

The news was the price has increased everywhere.
The initial price is no longer available . Hope that sums it up .

If you've mentioned something once, even if people aren't understanding what you are saying or able to read your post, you don't need to keep at the point.
It's like the expression of talking to a brick wall - if the brick wall isn't able to understand you, why keep talking to it.
