DELTAprime
6th August 2014, 03:39 PM
The first release date has been given for AOE's Blu-ray and DVD. Unfortunately it's a US date but I will update this post with Australian and British dates.

Australian: 26th of November https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on-sale/action/transformers-age-of-extinction/638245/

New Zealand: 26th of November

British: 17th of November

US: 30th of September. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/transformers-4-age-of-extinction-home-release-info-and-release-date-180893/

TF3 was release here on November 10th (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=12061)... while it was released in America on September 30th. So we could be expecting the same here this time, despite getting the movie in theatres here first.

So... an almost 2 month gap between the US release and ours. And our government wonders why people download

If the wait is too long for you just buy the Blu-ray from the US. Paramount doesn't region protect their Blu-rays.

Or they could release them simultaneously.
If they can do it with games & books, a dvd shouldn't be that difficult.

Even with shipping it will probably be cheaper to buy from the US than here.

October 23rd here in New Zealand, odd since normally we are slower than AU for releases

Yeah well still no big Aussie stores have confirmed the date so it might not be on the 23rd.

I'm quite impressed that they're releasing titles onto DVD just months after cinema debut. Remember when it used to take about a year? I watched TFTM in theatres in 1986 but didn't find it on video until late 1987 or early 88!

besides, I've already watched AoE 3 times in the cinema. I can wait till November. :p what kinda bugs me is his they never fix simple mistakes for the home version. E.g. changing Devastator's name to Brawl in TF1 subtitles, Skipjack & Wheel bot to Rampage & Demolishor or Scavenger in RotF... I'd like to see Crosshairs' "Spike" line re dubbed to something that makes sense, like the actual name of one of the Dinobots. Not gonna happen though, I know... :o

Well I'm not going to count it as confirmed till the big guys like JB Hifi and Sanity confirm it but I find the idea that we have to wait almost till Christmas annoying as hell. Even tho I hate the movie it's still Transformers and so I want to see it again.

Anyone know if the digital download codes in US Blu-rays work on the Australia iTunes store? The included iTunes code is important to me.

Some movies still do. I think that they know that the sooner they release the blueray, the quicker they can ride whatever remains of the hype.

So Reckoner has an article that says the average delay between when the US gets a movie on DVD and Blu-ray when we finally get it is 57 days. I didn't realise we had to wait so dam long on everything.

No, it won't.

It will work in a US account though, which you can sign up for. Your device can playback from multiple accounts. :)

Two months later for the Blu-Ray and TMNT not released here until September 11.

Pfft...That's tiny compared to the one in your shed! :p it does look really good though :)

As for the Blu Ray, i don't see why it wouldn't, provided you have player compatible with Region A (US) discs, we're Region B.

Yeah, shed Grimmy is a tad larger ;)

Hmmm, well my blu-ray players are my PS3 and my PC - I think they might be compatible but not sure  But hopefully Delta is right and Paramount doesn't code them anyway

Apparently the statuette is 7.25 inches high and Grimlock himself is 9 inches long. That size is good enough to convince me to pre-order it :D

There must be a massive markup on Blu-ray's in America. I see the MSRP for the 3D version is $53 but Amazon is selling it for $30. 3D Blu-ray's RRP here is normally $50 but you are lucky if you can buy them at retail for $40.

When it comes to voting with my wallet I normally vote to keep Australians employed with games and Blu-ray's and buy the AU release of them but this time I think I'll order the US version because of the long delay and the massive discount Amazon has off the MSRP.

Trev, I feel fairly confident that AOE will not be region locked because only 3% of Paramount's Blu-rays are confirmed region locked so far. http://regionfreemovies.com/studio/Paramount

Anyone else get their copy from America yet?

I tried to play the 3D disk in my PS4 and it did not work. Fortunately it does work in my Xbox One and PS3. I'm wondering if this is a problem for everybody trying to play that disk on the PS4 or if I have a problem with my PS4.

I'm 3/4 way through watching AOE in 3D, just taking a break cause it's such a long movie. I cannot recommend this Blu-ray at all. In addition to the craptacular quality of AOE it's self the Blu-ray's director should be shot in addition to Bay.

In some shots they are using a beautiful looking Digital Cinema 1.85:1 image which creates a small black bar across the top and bottom of the image, but that means no cropping of the image. Then it will change shots to a traditional 2.40:1 ratio shot with film that gives massive black lines across the top and bottom. Bay obviously used two different camera systems shooting the film, thats bad enough, but then the Blu-ray director couldn't make up his/her mind which aspect ratio to use for the Blu-ray so it just keeps switching each time they switch camera.

This particular release of AOE has to be the worst Transformers movie ever.

Sound like maybe they've kept all the Imax shots in the mix? I seem to recall a Dark Knight release that did something similar.

Apparently, that's the case for the 3D version. (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Transformers-Age-of-Extinction-3D-Blu-ray/83887/) The 2D version (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Transformers-Age-of-Extinction-Blu-ray/83888/) has only 2.40:1.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to call you out for not knowing what you're talking about, or at the very least, not explaining your gripe very well.

They shot a tonne of the scenes in Imax so that it is more immersive in certain scenes. The 3D blu-ray retains that (much like the Walmart "Big Screen Edition" of ROTF did). The 2D doesn't.

It has nothing to do with the director (and what the heck is a blu-ray director? you mean the blu-ray producer? No.) not being able to make up their mind and has EVERYTHING to do with a director knowing EXACTLY what they want.

Now, whether the film is shite is another debate (and one best left to another thread), but dude, you're completely wrong. Whether, in your opinion, you find it distracting, is another thing entirely.

Sorry I don't know as much about films as Rodger Ebert you ass. But I shouldn't have to put up with constant changes in a movie between two different aspect ratios and changes between digital and film stock. It's not even a matter of one scene is in 1.85:1 and then the next is in 2.40:1 like The Dark Knight. They actual are switching aspect ratios and film mediums each time they change to certain cameras in the same scene. Clear enough for you:mad:?

Anyone got the BluRay from the US with a digital edition, and been able to access/view the digital version with no problem? Wondering if it's also region locked someway (to a particular service, like iTunes US account for instance)?

The DVD/BluRay/Digital version is only $13 USD at the moment which is tempting since there's no DVD/BluRay set in this country.

Some kind benefactor over the school holidays left the Blu Ray of AoE in my pidgeon hole at work :). Still havent found out who it was.

Interestingly the cover is slightly different from the US version. The Aussie version has a rating box on the front and is made of a light blue plastic. The US version (the one I have anyway) has no rating on the front and the plastic is a darker blue.

Very little difference I know, but enough for me to keep both on my shelf :D
