Judging by the art behind it, this is from the "book wrap" (slip of card wrapped around the lower half of the book) from the reprint of the original Generations book. The back cover art of that book has Optimus fighting Megatron... and the original print of the Deluxe edition had the Primus Lucky Draw toy on the back of the book wrap thingy.

If that is the only place they print those bios, that could be a fairly valuable slip of card, as the Generations reprint wasn't supposed to be many copies.

I think it's probably a slip from the Generations Vol2 book (the one you have to purchase to order the toy itself), cause that was also available at the expo (prior to general release) along with the Generations Deluxe reprint.

Unless they copied the artwork from the back of the Generations Deluxe book onto the back of the 2014 Vol 2 book, it's the limited print of the Deluxe book that was also being released at the expo. I grabbed my copy of the Deluxe book when I posted the reply, and you can tell that it is the battle scene from the back jacket cover of the Deluxe book.

I would get him as I'm after all the Headmaster Jr's, but I'd rather spend the $100 or more he'll cost on the original.

Not quite that expensive. It's 5000JPY ($53) for one, or 9400JPY ($99) if you order two (making it $49.50 per figure). Of course, you have to purchase the Generations book to get the order form, and on top of that pay for international postage. Still too rich for my liking, so it's a pass from me. :o I'd rather spend the money on my next MP Autobot car. ;)

Please post links to sources that we can get this figure at this price, or under the AU$100 that Deltaprime was commenting on.

But that's my point. There is no way you can get this for under $100, and yet you said it's "Not quite that expensive" to Deltaprime when he said it would be at least $100.

There are three ways to get this toy for us here in Australia.
1 - for most of us here it is through a secondary source, and the prices of past Generations toys have been US$100-200 plus shipping... because there are limited options for non-Japanese fans to get it, so toy dealers punish us for profit from that rarity.
2 - if by chance non-Japanese fans can order the toy this time, add up the expenses - $42 for the book (with shipping) to get the order form, $53 for the toy, and probably about $25 shipping for the toy. That equals about $120.
3 - for the one person in Australia who has people in Japan to order the toy for them, it is still about $35 for the book with shipping in Japan, $53 for the toy, about $15 shipping to the Japanese address, then about $15 to post it to Australia with other items to offset some of the cost. That STILL is above $100, at about at least $113.

So, again I ask, how is it possible to get this toy for under (AU)$100 since you said it's "Not quite that expensive", so that people like me and others like Deltaprime can get one. :confused:

I don't know about secondary sources, so that's something I cannot comment on. But yes, even purchasing directly from the primary source isn't cheap -- at best it'd cost about AU$80-something (but that's including the cost of the book and toy - unless you know someone who wants the book but not the toy). But that's why I personally skipped United Stepper. On the other hand, if someone really wanted to have Go Shooter, even at AU$100, this toy may arguably be a cheaper alternative over purchasing the original G1 toy. :o

Yeah the best price I've ever gotten on a JP mail away figure (at time of launch) was $90 for Gentie Strafe. The secondary market prices for Million figures always runs at least $100 even if you don't buy the book. Here's BBTS's prices for the figures. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.aspx?menu=265&company=492

I'm tempted to get Artfire from them now that he's been shelf warming for so long and come down in price so much.

Yep, about $100 is what I've paid for past Generations exclusives (plus shipping), and am still missing the Infiltrator Starscream, because it was less impressive as an exclusive (not even a new character for that mould), and yet was more expensive than other ones. More than what I'm willing to pay.

I read that as being, putting that money towards buying an original, not, buying an original for that price... which as we know, costs hundreds loose, and very well a grand sealed.

But if he finds a source for them at about $100, I wouldn't say no to being hook up either.

The only book-exclusive mail order toy that I've gotten was United Artfire, which cost me $66 (for toy + postage), or $98 if you include the cost of the book. I wanted United Artfire because, as we all know, back in 2004 Takara reissued Stepper. But they never reissued Artfire, making him the only G1 Targetmaster missing from my collection. Ordinarily I wouldn't care about Japanese G1 characters, as it's not the G1 of my childhood, but it kinda bugged me that I had Stepper but not Artfire. So when news of United Artfire came out, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the TF Generations 2012 book and order Artfire. Even though it meant paying $66 for a Voyager (or $98 including the book), I figured that it'd be cheaper than purchasing an original G1 Artfire off the secondary market. :o So yeah, while getting this Go-Shooter toy is never going to be cheap for anyone, it would arguably be a cheaper alternative to getting the original G1 toy off the secondary market.

Wow... I'm surprised to see that Artfire has appreciated (arguably depreciated if its initial after-market price was higher than this or vs. the aggregate cost of purchasing the book + toy) so poorly. If this is the case, perhaps it might be worth waiting to see if Go Shooter will similarly depreciate. <shrugs> :confused: Then again, Go Shooter isn't nearly as obscure as Artfire, so there may be greater demand for it. <shrugs.again> :o

The only book-exclusive mail order toy that I've gotten was United Artfire, which cost me...
* Transformers Generations 2012 = 2625JPY ($28)
* United Artfire = 5700JPY ($60)
* Postage for book and toy ≈ 1000JPY ($10)
+ Total ≈ 9325JPY ($98)
^Double the AU RRP for a Voyager. :o Although the base cost of the toy plus postage (i.e. not including cost of the book) would be 6260JPY ($66), which is what I consider to be what I paid for the toy itself. While the purchase of the book was a prerequisite to buying the toy, I still see it as a separate purchase.

At any rate, I wanted United Artfire because, as we all know, back in 2004 Takara reissued Stepper. But they never reissued Artfire, making him the only G1 Targetmaster missing from my collection. Ordinarily I wouldn't care about Japanese G1 characters, as it's not the G1 of my childhood, but it kinda bugged me that I had Stepper but not Artfire. You forgot postage to Australia... and even if you picked them up in person, it is only fair to factor that in when making it known how much less you paid than everyone else here who has to pay for postage.

I did actually edit my last post to try and make it sound less boastful, which was never actually my intent, however you appear to have replied (and quoted my pre-edited post in its entirety) just a few minutes after I edited it. I actual intention was to point out how, even when purchasing the toy directly, it's still quite expensive, as even I still ended up paying $66 for a Voyager. :eek: The point that I wanted to make was that there is no cheap method of getting these toys, only some methods which are less expensive than others, but they're all expensive. Even if you were living in Japan, Artfire would've cost at least 5700JPY (that includes the cost of domestic postage), which is about 1920JPY ($20) above JP RRP for a Voyager. Every conceivable method is expensive. :( <---that was the point that I wanted to make. :o

You forgot postage to Australia...
No I didn't. The cost of domestic postage is included in the base cost of the toy (5700JPY). So everything that I said about postage was about the cost of postage from Japan to Australia. I get my Japanese stuff posted in bulk, which makes it cheaper per unit (e.g. the postage cost for Artfire worked out to be 560JPY ($6), hence the total cost of that toy + international shipping was 6260JPY (≈$66)

I've never collected train bots before, but an Autobot character that can transform into a shuttle is mighty tempting......Plus a train bazooka mode. I'm going to have to bigbad Shouki I think. Even Artfire is on clearance too, and he's voyager sized

The second volume of the 2014 Generations book came with a poster like the first volume, and it is character art of Movie characters.

The odd thing is that it is a Hasbro poster (no Japanese and no TakaraTomy on it) in a Japanese book. I understand the usage of some English on packaging and books, but it seems lazy that they used a Hasbro poster without changing the language or even the name of the movie on it, from "Age of Extinction" to "Lost Age" (the Japanese name).

I do agree that it feels lazy, but the majority of people who get this in Japan are unlikely to be able to read/understand the text, let alone notice/care about the differences in names. :o

Apparently these are some new images of the Go-Shooter toy (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/million-hero-exclusive-go-shooter-new-images-181464/)... for anyone thinking of getting one.

Looks like it comes with a redeco of the Legends partner of Bumblebee (the helicopter - Blazemaster), to represent the human partner Shuta... but looks to be missing the rotor blades. The earlier image had yellow blades on the back, so I'm not sure if that is just a mock-up, or if Shuta will end up being a helicopter that can't fly.

More images have been released (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/million-hero-exclusive-goshooter-in-package-and-more-new-images-181481/), of the box, and an attack/flight mode... which has the helicopter plug into the back a bit like Armada Hotshot.
