Robot Mode
A good representation of G1 Arcee, although she is carrying most of her alt mode on her back. Her articulation is impressive with a large range of motion in her arms and legs, aprovimately 70° at her elbows and knees. There is no waist movement or wrist rotation. Attachment points on her thighs, forearms and backpack for her weapons. Light-piping for her eyes.

She feels a bit frail but I didn't notice any fragile areas. There is a double joint on her hips that is a bit loose.

Cybertronian Cruiser Mode
It looks like G1 Arcee's cruiser mode. Her weapons can attach to any socket. It doesn't roll particually well tho.

Transformation
Reasonably straight forward, but there were a few tricky areas like folding her arms down and getting the rear of the cruiser to line up. Transforming from cruiser to robot was much easier.

Overall
This is the G1 Arcee we have been missing for 30 years.

Because i don't find either of her modes appealing. The only reason i'll be investing in her is to complete my MiSB/MoSC Generations line -if that wasn't the case, it would be an easy pass. While this may be the Arcee figure that everyone else has waited for, it isn't mine ;)

I know many of us (me definitely included) have disturbing collecting/hoarding habits/issues. When I buy a toy that sucks, at least at the time I buy it I assume it's going to be good, it just turns out to suck once I've transformed it and held it in my hands. But you're saying that you're specifically buying a toy that you neither like nor want. Is that not a bit of a worry?

A bit of a worry? Not at all. i only have two collections which i can say are 100% complete while every other line is cherry picked.
It's like those who purchase every piece from G1 so they can have a complete collection. You can't tell me that they all hit the 'buy it now' button with the same enthusiasm when they're buying Bugly as opposed to, say, Targetmaster Scourge... but they still do, to complete their collecting goal, regardles of how they feel about Bugly ;):)

I want this toy so bad. Since 1986 I've never been able to fully recreate TFTM and other G1 stories with my toys because I didn't have Arcee (or Unicron, but that desire was satiated 11 years ago ;)). As some of you know, several years ago I started making a photocomic adaptation of TFTM (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=2800), which I've since stopped (:p), but I actually did have a lot of future scenes photographed (but not MSPainted with "effects" and speech bubbles), including the Junkion battle scene with Binaltech Arcee. Needless to say, BT Arcee stuck out like a sore thumb against my G1 toys. So would Animated Arcee, and yeah, so would Generations Arcee -- but I'm not expecting Hasbro to go and retro-actively give us a 1980s engineering level style Arcee toy. :o This toy is the closest (legitimate) representation of a G1 Arcee toy that I've ever seen, and for that reason...

Can't say in super keen on this either. I pick and choose entries into my generations classics collection based on how cool I think they are. And Arcee ain't doing anything for me. Particularly when I have a PE Motorbot that imo is a much better version of the character. Because G1 accuracy is not the be all/end all.

But I'm happy for those who are thrilled with her. It's certainly about time Hasbro released her.

I've transformed her back and forth a couple dozen times and I notice she's developing stress marks where her headlights join up with the rest of her bonnet. I couldn't see how to fold her chest into place for alt mode, without exacerbating it so I clipped the tabsso the bonnet flexes less than before during transformation.

Edit: and clipped the base of that dorsal fin. It is extended so the flap can be lined up with her butt but I find it just pops out the fin more often than not.

A few thoughts on ol' Arcee:

Cons
*She's really small - like super small for a deluxe
*Pink hands - I don't know why but it bugs me - makes it look like she's wearing those long fancy gloves ladies wear to the opera or Oscars and such
*The nice smile. It's very, very G1 cartoon Arcee, I'll grant you that. But I think Arcee has hardened up over the years and I would have preferred a grin or smirk or something to indicate she can cut you in half if she wants - as it is with that expression she looks like she really should be Daniels babysitter.

Pros
*Great colours
*Awesome alt-mode
*Good robot mode
*Guns to represent the old cartoon and comics, swords to represent the Animated series and current comics - very good!
*FINALLY GOT A PROPER ARCEE TOY AFTER 28 YEARS!!!

Pro's outweigh the cons for me :D

She is an interesting figure, certainly more G1 styled than from the comics. The profile is much more comics inclined, so her polite smiling face is jarring to me.

Lots of weapons makes me think she is meant to be the modern comic take on Arcee, but with toy modes that geewunners have been crying themselves to sleep over for the last 25+ years.

Excellent and simple transformation, spider thin arms that are much stronger and dexterous than you would think and she looks fantastic in both modes.

Not my favourite Arcee (Animated), but a lovely toy and worth having in your collection.

I got my Arcee today from BBTS. I received the version with the open hands. This is one of the best figures I've probably ever held. The alt mode is gorgeous and the transformation, while a little simple, works.

Robot mode is very poseable. The backpack is nowhere near as garishly huge in hand than compared to photos.

I would complain that the swords easily pop out of all the slots. The guns don't love being in her thighs either.

Bought two, gave one to my daughter so we could open it up and play with it. Love the simple transformation. Sure, she's a bit of a shell-former with heaps of back kibble, but everything tucks away so nicely underneath the car mode. They couldn't have designed her any other way and retained that sleek robot mode which is true to the animation model. A great figure (no pun intended) and well worth the wait. A++

I'm just amazed by the awesomeness of Generations Arcee and how close HasTak managed to get the toy to the original G1 model. Bear in mind that in the G1 cartoon, Arcee transforms from car to robot with almost all of the vehicle parts disappearing into thin air. While it's true that Gen Arcee carries about half of her vehicle kibble on her back, they've done an impressive job in incorporating it with the robot mode as well as compacting it. I'm impressed with how they've actually used some of the backpack kibble to form the pylons that sit behind Arcee's shoulders in the cartoon model. We typically see these sorts of feats being achieved with Masterpiece Transformers, but Arcee manages to achieve this with relative success at a Deluxe Class size and budget/price point! Furthermore, we know that this toy has to be intuitive to transform, as well as fun and durable to play with. Considering that this is a mass-produced toy for the general market, I think that this is one EXCELLENT toy. :D The backpack kibble is unfortunate, but also unavoidable, but I think that they've done a pretty good job in trying to work around it.

Mine got delivered today and gotta say, I was intially unimpressed when I opened the box. The vehicle mode is tiny and so much robot underneath. But Transforming is rather fun and very clever. Some nice (cute) touches that I noticed on my forst go, ut will have to play with a bit more to se if it really is what I think it is.

I have about 2 complaints though, The guns don't quite fit into the leg holster holes on mine and you can't slot the guns into her hands properly. Aaaargh.

She's not the greatest transformer in the world but is definitely by far not the worst.

I am in love the bot mode on this fem, its very articulated, beautifully sculpted and despite being a 'backpack' former, she is incredibly easy to balance in many poses. (Which would have been the case with Windblade too if not for those darn inadequate heels)
I also love that she comes with no less than 4 accessories. The attention to detail here makes her feel like a real collectors item.

All that aside: It's about damn time.

The leg holes have way too much sideways play in them, with a wiggle you should be able to get things to peg in properly. The hands thing bugs me too.

Finally got my mitts on an LG10 Arcee today. From a G1 fan's POV, this version is absolutely fantastic as it's gorgeously accurate to the G1 cartoon model. G1 bias aside, the Hasbro version uses more blacks to break up the monotony of the all the pink and white that otherwise dominates this mould. The metallic blue also looks really nice on the bottom of the chest panel and vehicle headlights. However, the TakaraTOMY version also uses grey to break up the otherwise monotonous white belly on the Hasbro version, as well as painted taillights which the Hasbro version lacks. So both versions have added and reduced paint ops in different areas, but overall the Hasbro version has more paint ops. Whether you think that this is a good or bad thing is most likely a matter of personal opinion. On one hand, I can see that the Hasbro version does generally work better in breaking up the pink and white, but on the other hand, one could argue that TakaraTOMY's is an example of "less is more." The pink rifle on the TakaraTOMY version does just look daft though. :p

To me, Hasbro's Arcee works better as a representation of IDW's psychopathic killer Arcee, whereas TakaraTOMY's works better as a representation of G1 Arcee. :o

Anyway... pics!

for me i think the white/pink scheme of the TT version hides the thunder thighs a bit, it just seems to flow more naturally. I think the black parts make them stand out more and breaks up the visual overall, not just breaking up the colour. I pretty much went for the TT version just because of that hehe.

Always thought the TT version was a little plain as there is not a great deal of contrast overall but I have to agree with you there; it works in looking a lot more natural in bot mode. The black however does make the alt mode more striking, although at the expense of G1 colour accuracy.

Only that Arcee isn't a poorly articulated brick that's overcompromised by gimmicks like many Armada toys. I was recently playing with my Micron Legend Shockwave (Armada Tidalwave) with some of my CHUGUR toys as I was playing out something based on Sins of the Wreckers. When you play with an Armada toy alongside other contemporary toys, it becomes abundantly clear just how badly engineered they are... and Tidal Wave is what I would consider to be one of the better toys from Armada!

Badly engineered is pretty harsh. I think Armada simply had a different design philosophy, one that was more G1-esque where many bot modes were still statues with wiggly arms. This design philosophy didn't really get shaken off until the Galaxy Force/Cybertron revolution! :D

Hear Hear, I reckon Tidal Wave might even earn the title of best toy from Armada (Unicron excepted!)

Badly engineered is pretty harsh. I think Armada simply had a different design philosophy, one that was more G1-esque where many bot modes were still statues with wiggly arms. This design philosophy didn't really get shaken off until the Galaxy Force/Cybertron revolution! :D

The philosophy was very simple, but produced a few fun toys.

Blurr's flip out wings was genius; catered for two very important playability factors - zooming and swooshing.

Also, loved Sideways' double headmaster that combines into a rider. As a race of robots in disguise, you'd imagine that there are a whole lot more spies around. With such an awesome gimmick, the fiction left much to be desired.

Hear Hear, I reckon Tidal Wave might even earn the title of best toy from Armada (Unicron excepted!)

The problem with Armada is that it went backwards from the previous series (Beast Wars) in it's engineering. Beast Wars achieved articulation that previously could only be expressed in the G1 cartoons.

People complained about the G1 toys being bricks without articulation, which lead all the way up to the redundant non-transforming action masters, then beast wars went mental with articulation at the expense of everything else.
Articulation on articulation on articulation.
Didn't care for beast wars toys when they came out. Some (not many) have grown on me since. Only one I have is transmetals rhinox, his articulation is minimal and he reminds me of G1 slag, I even keep them together as they look cool together.

I'm glad Beast Wars went mental with articulation, and those experiments led to better overall toys down the line, but to me overly articulated shellformers are not my kind of transformers. Many of them look more like Digimon or pokemon to me than anything I would call transformers.

Much preferred toys from the Unicron trilogy lot, particularly Cybertron line, which was one of the best lines ever imo.

I wouldn't say they're like Digimon or Pokemon because they don't have the cute and comical factor.

Although I definitely agree 100% on the last line. Cybertron is the best because of how it takes the best of the previous two series.:D

Sorry to bump but wasn't sure where to ask, just wondering if anyone could post a picture of either Hasbro/Takara version with some of the recent deluxe Titan Returns deluxe class figures. I'm interested to see how she looks with these headmaster figures ;)
