Finally a Takara MP11 Skywarp. Given that most of the second runs of TT MP's are actually Hasbro HK exclusives and the recent reissue of MP-8X is a Hasbro product I'm not shocked at this being a Hasbro HK exclusive.

Yeah that's my only complaint and they use the same color as the original toy but I actually like the lighter purple color then what MP06 has. Aside from that I'm still getting him at least he has the orange canopy like MP11 not yellow like the hasbro Thundercracker.

Apparently a Hasbro Asia exclusive, although that box has Japanese all over it...
Hasbro HK have reissued four Japanese Masterpiece toys this year, that didn't get released by TakaraTomy as well. This would probably the second Hasbro HK Masterpiece that hasn't been released anywhere else before (the first being the upcoming Gold Megatron).
For at least 10 years now Hasbro Hong Kong releases most of the Japanese stuff (any Masterpiece or Encore toy that came with a coin but no feedback form was the HK "version" - everything is the same as the TakaraTomy versions). Japanese writing is the same as Chinese writing - it just verbalises (sounds) different when read.... allowing Hasbro HK to take a portion of TakaraTomy's stock and sell it without any problems in their Chinese speaking countries.
The recent "JP" Masterpiece reissues in JP boxes have mostly been by Hasbro HK, so were never re-released in Japan at all. But the packaging and details are mostly kept the same for convenience/cost. Hasbro HK even used the Henkei name and packaging template for some of their exclusives in the last few years, probably because it was easier, or looked more exotic, yet still readable by their Chinese customers.
Any time we get a Japanese release here (like MP Ghost Starscream or Gaia Unicron), they are from Hasbro HK, not TakaraTomy... because that's who Hasbro Australia deals with.
http://www.ehobbybaseshop.com/?p=6&ev=&id=1100
UsD $169.99 or $193 AuD
Damn... I really hate the way Hasbro HK have been pricing things now based on demand and existing secondary prices (with their reissues), rather than standard profit margins.
If this was priced at past Seeker pricing ($70-80), I'd get one just to have the set of MP-11 moulds... as many people have been begging for on a number of fansites.
Hasbro America or TakaraTomy might end up releasing it in a couple years time, as they've done four so far between them with the MP-11 mould (Starscream, Thundercracker, Acidstorm, Sunstorm), and by then it might have been long enough since the last Skywarp was released in both markets to risk another release on a secondary character.
(Starscream and Optimus they could release almost every year and they'd still sell, but Skywarp shelfwarmed first time around, and is less well known to the general public.)

Looking on ebay, the JP Skywarp is actually selling for US$190-250, but the Hasbro Skywarp is only selling for $90-120. Still more than its original retail price, but still cheaper than this HK version, if people are happy with either version of Skywarp.

The Hasbro TrU version, yes, but that has always been cheaper. If you recall the Hasbro Asia reissue of MP10 with the black stand, that was going from $240US at Robotkingdom to $300US at TFSource when preorders went live.

Not disagree there but this piece lack what mp-11 and mp-11S has and is charging if not more. I know if I buy this piece it means I am only short thunder cracker. But I told myself three seekers were enough.
If tru does a sky warp I may reconsider getting one below $150 mark.

Remember folks, this is Hasbro Asia. They have made a MP by looking at the aftermarket prices and then releasing what the market wants at the highest possible price. EVERY. SINGLE. Hasbro Asia release has been like this. I fail to see why people are surprised that this one isn't different.
Another point is that if Hasbro Asia are doing this, then it is a good indicator that there are no plans for Hasbro US to release Skywarp in the MP-11 mould in the near future.
I'll be picking this up:)

The newly released mp-10 is not highly priced and is by hasbro Asia
My point is this piece is minus cape minus stand plus$$ I not disputing what they price is right is not great that's all. With anything is still below$200 mark.
It is what it is. But thought I pointed it out
I disagree with the fact hasbro us is not releasing though.
Grimlock was released after they did a white box version.
There isn't any indication on this box that it is a pure exclusive but saying that so was acid storm.

just wondering if anybody would be able to quickly tell me (off the top of their head) what other models Hasbro Asia have released as "exclusives" in the past before. I tried looking online but my google skills are obviously lacking.
Like a few others I am super keen on getting mp11 versions of the main 3 seekers - however, am grappling with the price.
I don't blame Hasbro though - a product should be worth what people are willing to pay for it, and if they get enough people willing to pay $200 for this, then they've done well. Releasing something that is in high demand at a higher price point is just smart business..

I am not too sure, the white box grimlock which I don't even know what so exclusive about it.
Other exclusives are tiger track and silver streak. Oh mp-10 bath ape, and evangelion colours.

While I can agree with price point. It's not entirely great when you see what happened to grimlock. A $240 figure when as low as $120 or so and yes though there are differences but are not that major.
I probably wouldn't had made noise if it was the same price as mp-11 but being they reduced the accessories I felt short changed for the price.

thanks for the info..
and don't get me wrong - I also believe that it's the public's right to say that they think that something isn't worth the money; and of course they don't have to buy it. I just meant that I can understand why Hasbro Asia would be milking this for all that it's worth. And yeah, I get where you're coming from in regards to the regret at seeing a product then released elsewhere for cheaper - but that's also just common marketing, people who "must have this now" will also deem that product to be worth more than others. So after a period of time where those people buy theirs, the company can get more sales by pricing the product for the masses.
It IS quite highly sought after - and obviously is causing all sorts of internal dilemmas with people on this forum - and so it's working for them :p

I hate Hasbro Asia for this release. Why couldnt Takara have done this themselves along with Thundercracker?!? Now Hasbro Asia have screwed up the direction of the wing insignias, and god knows if Thundercracker will make it into this MP styled packaging as well.
After they cut corners on the reissue of MP-8X, I've lost my faith in Hasbro Asia. They just want to do quick and dirty repaints and charge a shit load for them. I mean, $200 for this when MP-22 Ultra Magnus (bigger, better, and a brand new unique mold) is only $150?!!?
And MP-11SW?!? You mean one of the core Season 1 characters cant even get his own unique numbering in the MP line? Hasbro Asia screwing up again. Makes no sense whatsoever.

The right answers might include chromed Sixshot, and the Autobot and Decepticon Specialist three-packs. There were also Generations Legends (Hoist, Motorbreath, Thundercracker and Bluestreak), Scouts (Dead End, Laserbeak, Sandstorm and Brawl), Deluxes (Springer, Swerve, Wheelie and Cliffjumper), Voyagers (Megatron, Hot Spot and Powerdive) and Leaders (Starscream and Ironhide) that were later also sold in the US. There was a Henkei Jetfire released with the Masterpiece Grimlock, (but I think that was TakaraTomy) and there's an upcoming reissue of Masterpiece-10 Optimus Prime too.

I'm still not liking their pricing policy when it comes to reissues or related toys (as this one relates more to the JP Skywarp, which sells for over $200 on ebay).
I might see if the Hasbro AUS people can find out if Hasbro HK have an official policy on this. And if this will be released here.
I am not too sure, the white box grimlock which I don't even know what so exclusive about it.

Sky Shadow beat me to it and added non-MP exclusives to his post... but yes, all those MPs were JP exclusives. The only HK Masterpiece exclusives that I can think of that aren't reissues (with maybe some minor colour changes) would be this Skywarp and the Gold Megatron.
(but naturally, their reissues would be considered HK exclusives as well... just not a new exclusive)
I hate Hasbro Asia for this release. Why couldnt Takara have done this themselves along with Thundercracker?!? Now Hasbro Asia have screwed up the direction of the wing insignias, and god knows if Thundercracker will make it into this MP styled packaging as well.
And MP-11SW?!? You mean one of the core Season 1 characters cant even get his own unique numbering in the MP line? Hasbro Asia screwing up again. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Hasbro HK won't have rights to create new MP numbers, as that is TakaraTomy's domain. This Skywarp and the Gold Megatron is already a first for Hasbro HK, in that they were allowed to use two sub-numbering designations that won't existing in the primary Japanese Masterpiece market. That's a step towards having their own unique Masterpiece deco/character and numbering in the future... if JP fans aren't too upset about a non-Japanese market securing two sub-numbers of "their" Japanese toyline.
(a bit like the 30 of 30 toys including some expensive HK exclusives - which sucked the fun out of the concept, and annoyed Hasbro US collectors since it was really a Hasbro US promotion)
As for the wing insignias - having them in the same direction as the nose-cone insignia is technically the "right" way, as the original Gen1 toys had it that way, making them the default format, but the cartoon got it wrong (like Rumble/Frenzy colours). So now that a number of cartoon fans have been working within Hasbro, we now have Rumble/Frenzy by Hasbro that matches the cartoon and not the toys... and we have most Seeker toys in the last 10 years have upside-down Decepticon insignias in jet or robot mode (in spite of what is on the original toys, just so it matches the cartoon - according to one designer at BotCon 2013 who is a toy fan, who did Acidstorm to make sure it had the Decepticon logos matching the original Seeker toys).
Personally, I wouldn't care if the original toys had it upside down in robot mode and the cartoon had it right way up... I just think it looks wrong seeing them upside down on toys, particularly in Robot mode (they are specifically located on toys to keep it facing upwards in robot mode). It's like having a flag upside down (saying that you are in distress), or saying that you are fighting for the opposite team (the upside-down Autobot symbol in RID used by Scourge).
It's wrong, and they should stop it. :p

So why does Hasbro Asia get to do this before an official Takara release? And what can one infer from this as to what Takara will or will not do with regards to the release of an mp-11 based skywarp/thundercracker?
Any qualities differences, patience and time differences between releases aside, its an issue of cost for me, as others have pointed out- Hasbro Asia's pricing have in the past been quite higher (chasing secondary market demand) than a retail Takara release of the same figure.
As a keen collector of the current MP line (mostly Takara versions), of course Ive been eagerly waiting for mp-11 redecoed Skywarp and Thundercracker. I'm tempted by this, but it seems overpriced so I will hold out for a Takara release.
My personal reassurance (although its a different scenario):
I remember the $250/$300 or so Asian Convention exclusive MP Grimlock a while back - in the special white box. Some vendors/people on other sites were touting this as the final chance to own an MP Grimlock, because Takara had already reissued MP grimlock a while back, and they would not do another. Secondary market prices were going for around $250 due to the hot MP line, and lack of supply. Heck I almost bought the MP Grimlock from parra fair for $230... insane when I think about it, glad I passed.
Lo and behold not long after Takara reissued MP Grimlock again- it was close to the original RRP - lower than the exclusive.
Just seems to make sense that Takara will release retail versions of MP11 Skywarp and Thundercracker.
tl;dr Tempting, but overpriced. Will wait for Takara Version. Logically, Takara should release MP11 Skywarp and Thundercracker down the line.

So why does Hasbro Asia get to do this before an official Takara release?
Because they're choosing to invest in releasing it and no one else currently is?
This mould must be on its way out too, surely - Starscream, Thundercracker, Acid Storm, two Sunstorms and now this? If anyone thinking of buying this is also the kind of person who likes to have a whinge here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=4882) or here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=13057) then this is definitely the toy for them.

I'm wanting to jump on this not only because I love the character and the MP11 mould but because I think that it may be the only opportunity to get this figure, I have a feeling that TT are not interested in releasing an MP11 Skywarp, I think their focus is on new figures and a repaint of each new figure. They already put out MP11 Starscream and a repaint into Sunstorm and perhaps in their minds the numbers aren't there for an MP11 Skywarp and Thundercracker. I may be way off though.
Defcon
26th October 2014, 05:52 PM
By giving Hasbro Asia the opportunity to do MP Skywarp, and also most likely a Thundercracker is in the works. Maybe its a sign, because TT has plenty of other releases lined up, and because of this, A theoretical release by TT, people would have to wait another full year? just my speculation. To me this is sound reasoning. I just think the price is unacceptable. With a Hasbro Asia release fans, can have it much sooner, and the demand is surely there.

So of those who are purchasing this guy, where are you getting him from?
Ehobbybaseshop seems to have the best price ($169.99 USD) but adding in shipping it is still expensive. You are looking at around $230 AUD. Any other options?
I will wait for eBay sellers as I know some who may sell them cheaper maybe.

It just seems so...over priced. For a Seeker mould? Nearly $200 I've heard. That's crazy. They need more than just Dr Arkaville clone and stand to be worth it. That's like third party prices :( so depressing... double :(

Even more, at least compared to stuff like Fanstoys Dinobots which are similar priced an bigger. It's a bit of as ask seeing as how he doesn't have all the fancy cape and other accessories that Starscream had. Annoying because I really wanted this guy, but at that price I would rather get a 3rd party toy as at least that would be a whole new mold. :(

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind getting this one and Starscream in the new mould, but, I have 2 Seekers (Starscream and Skywarp) in the old mould and 3 in the new one (Acid Storm, Thunder Cracker and Sunstorm...Actually I have 2 sunstorms now one Hasbro...so make it 4). I like the idea of the fact that, there's variety in the transformations breaking them up into individuals, rather then 5 of the same moulds just with different colours...

Not too sure why the supply is limited? to artificially created a "jump" in pricing due to lack of supply...

That's the thing with Hasbro Asia stuff. Being 'Asian Exclusive' is a terrible excuse to jack up the price.

Ok.. I should say the prices of Asia Exclusives are really exorbitant from ebay, tfsource and Amazon, US.
But the English version TFs are cheap from US.
Aisa Exclusive and Third Party like maketoys, FPJ and unique toys have nice price from Japan and China.
Even I have been in Australia, I may still purchase transformers from Taobao, China. What a pity..

Right, www.taobao.com if you can understand Chinese.
Or http://www.upgradecommander.com/ its from Japan and will teach international buyers about purchasing. But the price is not as good as Taobao.
However, I am sorry to say that one of the two languages is essential for buying cheap figures such as Asian Exclusion and many Third Party products. The price in TFsource, bigdaddy and ebay may be much higher due to the high incomes in US and Australia while in China, the price must drop otherwise no one can afford that.
Raynoryin
2nd November 2014, 09:14 PM
Yeah, right. But you can take time to find 735RMB for the whole-price deposit.
What I am going to say is that Do not pay deposit, when the products are in stock, the sellers will struggle to offer a better price so as to beat their peers. Mp11 Starscream on Taobao is now around 700RMB(121 AUD) which from my view, will be the same as Mp11W.

Only if you can afford it. It will be the third MP Skywarp so far released, but is likely to be the most expensive of the three. Not just because it is super limited, but because it is using the altered mould of Starscream (the last two Skywarps used the original Starscream mould).
The original Hasbro version is the cheapest on the secondary market, while the original black-box Japanese version is about twice the Hasbro price.

Yes to your mp11 question
As for price, it's what people think it's worth. You can be happy one moment buying it and then next moment you actually see a proper release or hasbro release. There isn't an indication to say this the ONLY release they be doing.
I do not feel or see the exclusiveness for this piece.
But if u want it, here is a chance.
There are also hasbro releases of the old mould going off cheaply.
For me, about the same price, I can get star saber mp or Magnus which are bigger toys. But I understand seeker fans who must buy it.

I saw that they were sold out the other day. Lucky they aren't cheap, or else I would have been bummed about missing out.
Despite the secondary price of the Hasbro America Skywarp not going up as much (and it shelfwarming a bit during release), I think there will be enough demand in 3-4 years time for them to do one of this mould version as well. After all, unless they can do cone-heads or make up some more new character redecos, they have to start redoing characters now, and Starscream would be first within a couple years, and then Skywarp would be next (because it was second in the first run).

About 100%.

I be honest here, it's targeted at the collectors main stream hence the price. It's slightly more for less but it is what it is.
If tru hasbro numbering is a reboot we may see it down the road, maybe not so soon. Again I can be wrong and this may be the only one . However I only like thunder cracker if that's my last seeker I ever wanted and it is not a must for me.

This item is brand new, however, all MP-11SW are opened (Not sealed), because this item is China exclusive, by law they must open all boxes to insert the additional chinese instruction into each box (So each box will have 2 instructions, one in Chinese, and one in Japanese).

Or they could do what Hasbro Australia's done w/ MP Wheeljack, Bumblebee (presumably) and Ultra Magnus and just replace the Japanese instructions with the translated instructions while the toy is being packed and sealed in the factory. It does require more fore-planning (e.g. I had to complete my work on the MP22 booklet by mid October for a late December release), but it's definitely doable.

To a collector it sure well can, and for people who look at it logically, I would buy two Magnus. But each to their own. You can't stop a seeker collector if he is only missing this piece and needs it.
Then again, there will be consequences when this piece is released as a non exclusive. As far as I can see, the exclusiveness is that it has way less for paying more.
I will like to see Thundercracker by TT. Mind you, they could make their own version of Acid storm which they have not and only Hasbro has.

Putting the word limited is marketing 101 to put a price premium on an item.

I don't know if "shelf-warming" is probably the word to use, because it was being snapped up in its earlier prices of US$150-170... and even sells on ebay at US$200. Some online stores may still have stock, but they either intentionally over-priced them or raised the price, to cash in on the demand. If they have some left that don't sell at the higher price, they'll just drop it back a little and still make lots of profit.

It wasn't aimed at anyone (I didn't even notice who was mentioning it)... I was more complaining about the price-gouging of dealers, as I would have bought one at regular retail pricing.

It appears that MP11-SW is back in stock here but listed as new:
http://www.hobbyshop2go.com/en/shop/products/masterpiece-mp-11sw-skywarp-asia-exclusive---d416f06ad-4ae2-4cfa-9f16-a44d00bce04c.html
Price is ok however I wont buy from them due to a previous bad experience.
I noted on TFW2005 that I had read previously on Taobao where one of the sellers mentioned a second round of MP11-SW would be coming. These ones apparently with out the need to open the box to insert the Chinese instructions if I understand the translation correctly. I took this with a grain of salt as you would but perhaps its accurate?

I don't really bother, since Hasbro is releasing TRU mp starscream, I am already assuming this would be available down the road, and just a matter of time.
At that price I can obtain an mp-10. I do not see how a seeker with less things except an extra Chinese booklet should cost so much more. Perhaps the exclusiveness wasn't meant for the rest of the world. Well that's how I see it.

well this is Skywarp and not BAPE or EVA MP10, Hasbro/Takara may just find a way to bring this back in one form or another...The MP Toyline is the most expensive line of TF so it is really just about patience since reissues are most inevitable as the number of collectors of the line keeps growing. (just have fingers crossed that there are no issues on the reissues as usual :D)

To be frank, I am surprised they have not gone full blown and still taking their time on seekers. I mean, some of us are sick of this. Hey look, a new decepticon, well not really is just a repaint of mp11
Meanwhile the other coneheads are like not bothered, and is just shame on the decepticon side that there isn't anything to really go for.
Sure, I do get the don't release too much at one go. But its the same thing every year. This year Hasbro Starscream mp11, with any luck "hey look Thundercracker in mp11 from TT.
Sigh.....has it became that predictable that is not even fun to wait for them.
Hence, I be calling quits once I have obtained all my cars. There may be a Masterpiece Jet fire or something different but is highly an autobot.

So in my quest to find this guy I stumbled upon a rather dubious looking site named kotoys.net that claims to have Skywarp in stock here:
http://www.kotoys.net/takara-transformers-asia-exclusive-mp11sw-skywarp-p-7129.html
Communication was surprisingly good, I had 8 emails back and forth with him over the weekend. He made it clear the boxes had some defects but it was not a KO. However since I am fussy on the box condition I requested photos of his best box available but he wouldn't send any. That combined with the fact that on the webpage it says the site is Paypal approved yet they only accept credit card as payment and not Paypal made this all too risky for me to go ahead. Heck, I can't even seem to buy Skywarp on its own, but it seemed to work if I added another item to the cart.
I did some digging on user reviews of the site. I couldn't find anything on this site but there were some threads on TFW that were quite scathing of an old site named kotoys.com which was later shut down. It's highly likely this is a reincarnated version of that site (since the logo says "we are back".
If anyone has a higher risk appetite than me and wants to give it a shot then I'd be interested to hear back how it went. But I think there is a good chance of something going wrong with the transaction and then you would have to try doing a credit card chargeback. I'm not that desperate to want to go through all that.

Guaranteed a scam. If the larger retailers cannot get a hold of Skywarp and given their rarer than hen's teeth listing on ebay, there's no way some random schmuck can casually sell these on their site. All the stuff you've mentioned (especially about Paypal - my safety net) further makes this guy suss.
I'll continue to live in hope that TT will reissue.

For a redeco of the MP-11 mold with minimal accessories, the item was already over-priced on release at around $US200.
Thanks to rarity, Skywarp is being sold on ebay for around $US600. The closer you can get to the original RRP, the better. But it won't happen.

Nowadays, the MP-11 mold model comes with less accessories. the MP-11T was released with only the pilot.. not even with the megatron gun.. I am yet to get MP-11NR but I think the only accessories would be the pilot..

I think TT is pushing to the limit to see how desperate people will go for minimum effort with maximum profit. Less for more in their case.
I have no regrets not buying it though. If we technically look at reviews the rockets in the intakes were not even painted.
Even if TT does not issue it, Hasbro Asia will release it again, chances are you see this piece before you even see a new MP Megatron.
I did predict Hasbro to come out this piece this year being Hasbro MP-11SW was never released but we are yet to hear anything about any MPs from Hasbro at all.

They aren't made in the Has/Tak factory, sometimes the plastics are cheap garbage but other times they are better made, the colors are generally the same as the originals.

That's interesting... stolen molds!!? Is there stories of this happening? There's a list of known lost/stolen molds here http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Mold there's no real way to know for certain which ones were actually stolen, though most say that the G1 Dinobots were definitely stolen what with the sheer number of fake G1 Dinobots there are out there.
There's also lots of stories of different MP molds and/or CAD files being stolen, what with the accuracy of some of the fake MPs, but it's mainly speculation on those.
On topic, considering the price and how little different MP11SW Skywarp seems to the Hasbro release I can't really myself picking this one up

Tenso is not fantastic, I had been cheated once and I think I will just post my feedback.
They had a protection option be careful if you intend to ship by boat as Australia has a size limit , they do not care which country you plan to post and if you exceeded the limit is your fault. They will not I REPEAT WILL Not remove the protection option once applied and you be forced to use whatever express option they have resulting in $200 just to ship three seekers?
I had once check on protection options and instead it automatically applied without my consent and they refused to remove or refund.
Be very careful when handling with them as they don't care as much as I thought they are.

Nice to know gotcha for sea method but how long ago was that? As I only see the insurance options nowadays and none showing that expensive as you have describe, has the options / policy changed since?
But shipping topic wise I guess if one is using takmall/tenso combo they are doing it to get stuff fast and would likely be doing ems. It is the recommended option imo as if your going to all the trouble you might as well ensure you get the stuff in the fastest and safest way possible
Sea option of 1-3 month wait is kinda a drag of a wait for anything

That's a shame. They added extra bubblewrap to my MP-14+ order for free and even sent me photos pre and post doing this. I use MYUS as my US freight forwarder and while they are also good, they charge for extra wrapping and don't do it as well.

Yes I will be using EMS, the boat option I'm not sure about since I don't know how they are handled whereas EMS has always been safe, quick and reliable. I have recently gotten an order with NY shipped by boat to try it out and I'm not as fussed on the box condition in this case because these were doubles of MP's I already have that I want to open to display.
