I couldn't sleep so I was looking at TFCon news and found out X-Transbots had revealed MX-I Apollyon (Megatron) and MX-II Andras (Scourge).

Scourge looks good to me. Megatron, I'm not sold on, and I still expect a Takara release soonish...

BBTS has MX-I Apollyon up for $150.

I'm really liking the both of them. Scourge looks freakin bad ass! I'm under the impression that TT will release Megs V2 also - but whatever...I'll get this anyway, depending on reviews and build quality of course. And if TT release Megs I'll just sell off this one. :D

I'm really struggling to figure out where all of Megatron's robot mass comes from, because the gun is fairly accurate as well... must have a very involved transformation!

That Scourge looks good. Oh another Megatron... as a gunformer, would of been better to be Cyclonus, who at least would go with Scourge.

Looking at the silhouettes in this pic I think Cyclonus will be MX-III.

As long as it's in robot mode should be okay. I got my tw hegemon with no problems. It would be nice having someone to face-off with mp-10

$150 is pretty good, though Takara putting forward a V2 is very possible.

Tfidownunder have it on pre-order, so if you're that concerned about customs and don't feel confident in importing yourself, I suggest doing it through them. They have a pay later scheme for preorders and they have a history of refund to customers for not getting items in (they cancelled the daca toys Kronos/skyfire because of all the QC problems reported, and refunded everyone)

I know RK has him for $125+shipping (though I haven't checked how much). I was hoping that TFi could have him cheaper, but it's not bad if the total cost from RK is more.

Chimungmung estimates postage cost around 30-35USD. Doing a mock order on Robotkingdom estimates about $41USD. $165USD is about $185AUD (not including Paypal fees). A mock order on TFIDownunder totals it to $171AUD shipped to Vic. I'd say local might be your best bet mate, lol.

A colour test shot video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0PszcYhjMM)! Damn this thing looks good... but so hesitant to preorder before in-hand reviews ... especially with an official one bound to happen at some point.

That said, i'm still thoroughly confused how it actually transforms. The thickness in his legs and crotch seems like it has nowhere to go for gun mode. I wonder if there's some degree of parts forming that they're not being open about.

Maybe they are not wanting the official toy company "stealing" their transformation idea of this ha ha.

Yep, this is my most anticipated s3p release this year (tracks being most official), i've never actually owned a megatron in any line, even as a (dumb) kid i thought g1 megs was too ugly to want... Mp-05 was a big no for me too, but this was a big YES and am checking tfi's facebook eagerly for news that he's landed. These pics just make the wait harder.

Considering ordering Apollyon from TFidownunder as with the exchange rate and all they probably will end up cheapest but have one important question.
Are they likely to open him up and shove ugly orange b*** plugs in his orifices?
From what I hear BBTS glue them in so that's a big NOPE for getting any gunformers from them...

It won't reach suppliers until early/mid May according to X-transbots on Facebook. And they could delay further. So it's not dropping "soon" unless you count 1 month minimum as soon.

X-Transbots Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/masterminiseries?fref=ts) has the following two updates regarding Apollyon:

1. It's shipping to retailers next week; and
2. "Several of our retailers have asked us to glue the plugs in place to comply with their respective federal laws. We're sorry if this causes you any inconvenience but our hands are tied. All plugs will be glued.
We're going to send one out ahead of the rest to get a tutorial made on how to remove it if you choose to. We can't "recommend" it but at least you'll know how, without damaging your toy. Again we're sorry for any inconvenience."

Sounds like although the orange plug will be fixed, it should be relatively easy to remove.

If they do manage to get this right then I'll be eager to see their take on MP Scourge and Cyclonus.

It could definitely use some work but yeah shopping carts aren't really my thing. Too much hassle from their unique requirements (that aren't usually clear until you've finished making it!).

It's no surprise it's bad, cause a good site should be a hefty investment and he's probably been burned by someone not charging enough... and not really knowing what they're doing. Since that's most people in the web industry... including me when it comes to shopping carts :D

Yeah the site is made in word press and all the features are plug-ins, it's not ideal at all, the thing I dont like the most is not having a user account to be able to view like all current orders and which are paid for all at once etc (unless I'm missing something). I've dabbled in php a lot over the years, but honestly I'm a lot more comfortable with ASP/VB... Unfortunately I've been out of the game since .net was gaining momentum, and have never had anything to do with encryption/payments etc. I made a prototype of an online store for a mum'n'pop computer store, and a mock up of a custom web based forum using xml as storage method instead of a database (cheaper hosting maybe, or not having to pay sql license), and was so glad when I was given the forum project, which I wrote from scratch for RMCH, but our company went belly up before it went live

Tld;dr Tfi is lacking features and needs an update, but I' not game to put my hand up, though I'm sure I could take a fair wack at it and give it most of the features and a good look/layout...

Edit: also i'm crossing all my fingers that I'm in the first batch of apollyon, however from the price I paid I don't think I will be, and if i'm not then i'll just gear up for an amazing June with UW superion, CW defensor, apollyon, sever, tesla, and hopefully spinout and brawny!

Just got the X-Transbots Apollyon yesterday and fiddled with it:

Only issues are:

1. Yes the right arm won't hold outwards with gun attached BUT he will hold the gun up with NO problems (stock shoulders no replacement)
2. One of the hand's thumb keep popping off (KFC hands are notorious for this)
3. After collapsing the torso it's very very difficult to pull him back up again
4. One of the arm's elbows can get a little stuck in the arm cavity
5. the left leg wont tab back in as securely as in the beginning after pulling it out (EDIT: nevermind - you need to tab all THREE pegs in - the last peg in the middle is very fiddly as that peg doesn't hold up at all - a design fault definitely)
6. It can be hard to pull the legs back out when transforming back to bot mode.

I think that's it - the arm problem I fixed with nail polish and attempted to do the same with left leg as well.

No breakages to speak of, no scratches to speak of and I think a lot of breakage might be due to incorrectly attempting to transform him - as it is quite complicated. However I think he's far more solid than MP-5 ever was and robot mode is spot on.

Yes you should try it - it's a collector's best friend I'd say if you ever had to fix loose joints etc - just get some clear nail polish from cosmetics section etc I got mine at Red Dot lol - start off with thin layers nothing overboard and see how it goes.

I don't know why so many people who posted on TFW2005 have so many issues with this figure - some are nitpicking like paint overspray, paint nicks etc - but some maybe due to improper transformation - leading to breaking of arm hinges etc - which can be FRAGILE if you twist them the wrong way.

Overall I reckon the transformation is no more scary than MP-5 and at least the figure feels a lot more solid - it's G1 Megatron realised - cartoon accurate nuff said.

My Apollyon's right shoulder ball-joint also needed the nail polish fix.

I found collapsing the torso more difficult than pulling it back out.

Mine also has a tendency to lean back due to weak ankles.

Appreciate the run down of QC issues. Still, all things considered it's a decent figure and definitely the most accurate G1 Megs to date. Mine just arrived yesterday but haven't had a chance to take him out of the box yet. Only thing I noticed through the window was a minor scratch in the centre of his chest. A deception label should mostly cover it up. I'm inclined to wait for Reprolabels though. Sounds like they're already working on a set. Hoping to have a play on Friday if all goes well.

Regardless, it's nice to finally have him in hand. I hope you guys all get yours very soon.

From my point of view transforming Apollyon is no more difficult than say transforming MP Rodimus or MP-Megatron - I followed paik4life's youtube Apollyon review as reference.

But yeah those spindly arm armatures/hinges and that spindly waist filler bar can be a killer if you're not watching what you're doing during transforms as they can be very easily snapped off, but at least it's not like MP Rodimus with his rubbish plastics where things fall off for no particular reason due to stripping of poor quality plastics used.

I'll just leave him in bot mode after initial transform as the gun mode is too fat anyway - I can always use the G1 as a gun - much more closer to proper size I think.

As for the Decepticon insignia - I just used the free holo-insignia from Reprolabels - works a treat.

But man Apollyon is really the best Megatron so far whichever angles you view him it's pretty spot-on - the downside is it make the MP Megatron looks like s**t LOL.

Same with me, to be honest I've never transformed Hasbro MP soundwave, MP Prime, any MP-11 seeker apart from acid storm... However my cars, di(n)oblts, and ultra magnus get transformed at least once or twice weekly. Apollyon will be forever in glorious bot mode between soundwave and quakewave.

I'd love to help you out but I didn't get Scoria. Hopefully someone here who has both can be of more assistance.

I opened my Apollyon last night. He's a bit scary to transform, you definitely have to be careful of a few pieces that could easily bend or break. I think transforming him will be a rarity now. Once you've done it once it's not too hard, just fiddly. I'm more concerned about those fragile pieces.

The orange cap from the gun tip was removed easily from mine, there was no glue. I might've just been lucky. However the cap on the silencer was a bit more effort. There only seemed to be glue on one side, and by poking it with a screwdriver from the other side and slowly working my way around the tip towards the one glued spot by applying pressure, cracked the glue relatively easily (still, that part was scary too).

Had to apply some clear nail polish to the shoulder joints to tighten them up as well. I was reluctant to use the included ball joint fixes after reading that they were far too tight and caused stress marks. The elbow rotation issue that presented itself on the review samples seems to have been corrected.

The paint apps are very well done though, and they seem to be reasonably resistant to nicks during transformation, especially the chest collapse.

I must say though, he looks damn fine standing next to his nemesis, MP-10 Optimus Prime. He was well worth the cost.

Here's a couple of pics:

Picked mine up (along with a few other people) in person last night. Can confirm his box is smaller than scoria's (so it fit in my backpack, wife had the car so I took the bike nust hoping it would fit otherwise I'd have to get it another day).

Edit - after playing around a lot (but not transforming), I can say that his gun arm is only loose side to side, ie he can hold it up pointing no prob all day long but if you pcik him up it swings horizontally loosely, not a prob for me atm. Also I tried displaying him with his gun out on the side, but his heel spurs ?? are just a tad too lose and he'll lean backwards (but not fall), so I've got him displayed with the cannon on front (which looks better anyway but also means that it's not as much of a squeeze to fit everything on that shelf), and then he's fine unless you nudge him, even jumping up and down in front of the shelf doesnt move him. Overall so happy, but I am really wanting a sticker for him, and Quakewave I guess, time to buy some reprolabels for prowl, smokescreen and wheeljack too then to make the order worthwhile.

Finally got a chance to check out my Apollyon, quick summary is that overall figure is good. I'm happy with it so far.

He has a bit of weight to him (although not as much a FT figures). Only a minor scratch on his abs (or could be left over glue or smudge, hopefully can fix/paint over it), everything else seems to be ok.

Plugs were stuck in with a dab or two of glue. The barrel plug I was able to wiggle out with a little bit of force, making sure not to bend/stress the swivel bar. The silencer plug was a bit tougher. I dunked it into some hot water to warm/loosen the glue, then did the screwdriver trick to pop it out.

He has the usual floppy right arm (when fusion cannon is attached). I think maybe the ankle tilts are a little loose but need to try out some more poses to be sure.

I haven't had a chance to transform him yet though, will have to give it a try tmrw. Hopefully it won't be too frustrating. I think like most I will transform him at least once to say I've done it, and confirm it's all good, then back to robot and he'll stay like that for display/play purposes.

Do need to find a Decepticon label for his chest too, just doesn't seem complete without it ... a little nekkid

Mine came today. It's a great figure, if quite flawed in the transformation and engineering, which is terribly complex. A few minor QC issues on mine, including a missing screw that holds on of the feet on - it still stays on and he stands fine, but during transformation, it falls off on occasion.

Transformed him to gun mode and back once, and probably for the last time. He's going to be the centre piece for my MP Decepticons, and will look damned fine doing so.

Is that worth the money I paid? Perhaps. I don't (yet!) regret the purchase, despite the flaws.

I did the shoulder fix, it went from loose, popping out constantly to OMG I can't move his arms it's so damned tight. Due to the arm hitching on the white tab from the body, I can only rotate his arms in one direction, as the arm pops off the white tab if I go the other way.

Swapped the loose ball joints for the tighter ones supplied seperately. Used the cute little screwdriver, also supplied.:)

There's also a little black cylinder/cog looking thing that I have no idea where it goes. Need to look that up I think.

watch the emgo shoulder fix video M-Bot

he just rotates the arm around and around until the ball joint is worn in and its fine after that

It's to do with the combined mode of all the gun pieces that form apollyon's "battle station" thingy, I'm pretty sure.

Did you find they were ok? I tried a tight one and it was an absolute nightmare, so much so that I'd warm others not to install them.

Though it may vary from toy to toy, I guess.

I had a little trouble posing the figure with the fitted ones, so I decided to do the fix. It's easy enough to do (can be done by removing only one screw - I can do a pictorial fix tutorial on the weekend if you like), but I made the mistake of putting one of the ball joints on the body before attaching it to the arm first - it was so tight I couldn't move the socket without the arm attached as leverage. So I had to insert the socket into the arm while it was attached to body, which was tricky.

In all, I much prefer the tighter ones. Posing the figure is a lot easier, even though I can only move the arm in one direction, as I mentioned before.

Transformed mine back and fourth a few times, not sure what everyone's taking about as I find it quite easy. Only thing I try to make sure of is supporting the metal armatures the am and leg assemblies are attached to.

Got mine today, finally!
Out of box and first impressions are good, very solid, no major QC issues apart from a faint scratch on the chest that's only visible from certain angles and will be covered in no time with a Decepticon sticker anyway!

His shoulders are a little loose as expected but will see about fixing that up later on. One thing to watch out for, i almost lost the tip of his thumb since it wasn't quite wedged into the ball joint socket out of box.

Got mine yesterday, thanks TFIdownunder. First impressions were good, but on closer inspection, the quality of the moldings and plastics are not as good as, say, fans project/maketoys. The black bits are all quite dirty and scuffed, I had a scratch on the right shin, and a QC issue with the left thigh panel not springing back up fully. The left thumb was also very loose requiring a little mod to fix. Shoulders are loose as expected.

Still happy with it though, looks great in robot mode - would have been perfect if the plastic quality and mold quality were of better quality.

I feel like the plastic quality is fine, but some of the cuts on edges are a little rough looking. It could be something to do with the silver paint job though, not sure. I was happy to see that the chest dimples are pretty much non-existant on mine at least - even under various lighting and angles. My collector card though, looks like someone went over it with a metal scour brush!

For the price (especially with all the accessories), i think overall it compares very favourably with the official MPs of this size.

yes, my chest dimples were not there either, but had some little paint defects on the silver, little drops of missing paint. The accessories are nice, although I would have liked a silver gun that came with the G1 toy. I saw a you tube video stating that the extra black bit which came with the extra shoulder parts was for the cannon/gun mode... can anyone verify this?

From TFW (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/1006189-x-transbots-mx-i-apollyon-mp-megatron.html)

Additional Adapter: If you're wondering what the aditional black adapter is for. This was added at the last minute. To convert your alt mode accessories into the secondary battle stand. You'll notice that one of the attachments is a (+ to o). This adapter fits between them so that they can be attach. If you configure your accessories in apollyon's battle stand where the handles are at his handheld level, this adapter is not needed.

Can someone please post me a pic of what these "chest dimples" are supposed to look like?

No :) If you can't see them, be happy and stop looking for them! They're virtually invisible except under camera flash i'd say.

4 attempts at trimming stickers later, mine is now inaugurated :)

found another QC defect, this time uncorrectable. the little silver tabs that swing up from the arms to cover the parts above the trigger. My right one was put on upside down, so doesn't sit flush with the other tab that swings up.

In must have done it the wrong way. My metal contacts didn't touch the batteries well, had to bend them back in.
