Make sure the ".au" is in the address bar at checkout, as the discount code is not likely to work on any other Ebay site or country code.

that has to be the case, imagine the outcry if ebay forced everyone listing toys to have a 20% loss on their sales for the sale period and charged fees.
they would have a lot of listings suddenly just disappear, I know I would pull all of mine, assuming I had some up at the time.
I have a whole bunch of stuff that I've had listed here for ages, it's all boxed and weighed, all I have to do is list it. I think I might have a busy Saturday.

Usually the discount is a code you add during the payment screen. It should be possible to wait a day without a penalty or reminder, or perhaps stall the seller with a question. (if they don't have a condition of immediate payment)
I've sometimes forgotten items that I've bid on, and don't check my email for a couple days, only to find a payment reminder 3 days later.

Would that work?
Not sure if I'm recalling this correctly but the previous sales required purchase within the coupon period. As it's a PayPal code, still worth a shot of you need to buy something a day or 2 before the weekend. Don't forget that this is via PayPal payments only as they will pay the seller the full amount so if doing pickups pay by PayPal first and don't rock up to the exchange with 20%less :) Also postage it's not discounted this time around.
griffin
6th November 2014, 01:54 PM
Would that work?
I don't know if the system checks when an item was bought, but best not to risk it if you can wait on something until the 9th.
I was only suggesting it as an option if something ends before the 9th, or if something is too hot to wait... provided you are willing to pay full price if it doesn't work.
(on the last discount day,e I was worried about getting an invoice of a bulk-buy before the discount code expired, so that's why I'm assuming that it is the day of payment instead of the day of committing to buy... but maybe the fine-print says BOTH must occur during the sale period - which looks to be for 3 days, so should be long enough to process purchases if the seller isn't away)

Paulbot
6th November 2014, 11:16 PM
I bought a game in a previous 20% off sale - but that one also had people getting good deals on PS4 which may be why the No consoles restriction is in place. I'd guess there's a good chance console games would be eligible.

(second release MP-08X Grimlock for US$150 before shipping, after discount :D )
Also, if you are struggling to find something you "need" to use up three discounts, consider looking at buying pre-orders from reliable and/or long-established ebayers, on upcoming higher-priced items. Just take extra care though, as pre-orders can be more problematic and risky.

I wonder if the recent issues with the site (probably due to peak evening period), is responsible for the delay in processing my transaction.
I had 7 items in the "cart" so that I could pay for them all at once to get the discount, and after going through the paypal screens and a half a minute wait, it told me that the transaction is still processing... and none of the items have shown up on my purchase history screen yet.
It took me ages to track down and swap out items so that it was all the one currency for the checkout to accept them... so I hope it hasn't all just disappeared on me to have to do it again.
I guess I can try it again tomorrow morning if it failed. (they were a lot of little items, that aren't really worth importing with expensive postage without the 20% off sweetener)

I usually don't like pre-ordering things in general on ebay, because of the greater risk of them closing up shop at any time before it is released, but the discount was just too good, so was willing to take the risk on a dealer who has been around for a long time with thousands of feeback.
As for the 90 days thing, Bumblebee should be out in two weeks, while Megatron should be out within 40-50 days at the latest.
Short enough to be paypal safe... hopefully.

The dealer is called "Happytradehouse" (http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/happytradehouse?_trksid=p2047675.l2559), which I've probably not noticed before, because they mostly sell 3rd party stuff. But if you search for Transformers or even Masterpiece, you'll get their AU$ items from that link.
Gold Megatron was AU$212, and Bumblebee was AU$87, both with free shipping so that the 20% discount is effectively on shipping as well (I made sure I looked for free shipping items, to get the most back on the 20% offer). So if you get the discount before the end of today (make sure you select items of the same currency), Gold Megatron should be AU$170, while Bumblebee should be AU$70 (total price shipped).
 While typing up this post, I noticed that the seller had bumped up the price for Bumblebee by $7, as it was AU$80 last night when I bought two.... which made it AU$64 shipped. That's cheaper than buying it in Japan at regular retail. The current price ends up being $70 after the discount, which is still about $20 cheaper than buying from most online sources.
Maybe do a search for Masterpiece Bumblebee on ebay America for other Asian sources that ship worldwide, to see if any other free shipping sources are now less than this guy's $87. His Megatron is still the cheapest that I could see... but still do a search just in case.

I ordered MP Bumblebee from the same seller, I was 1 of 9 units from his original listing so it was the $64 shipped. I did notice that he sold that first 9 units pretty quickly. I was also wary of buying a pre-ordered item from eBay although I did this for MP Wheeljack during the last 20% off eBay sale (at a delivered cost of $58) and despite him being delayed by TT he still showed up and had no issues luckily. Fingers crossed the same will happen for Bee.

Ah, so I wasn't imagining this. Had this on the watchlist at $80 and had a look last night and it was $87...

I remember last time they did the 20% discount I had some BIN auctions from Hong Kong sellers sitting in my watch list and they all shot up in price during the promo period.
I managed to take advantage of this promotion and picked up some cheapo display stands. Curious to see how they turn out.
Link for those interested (other sellers have them too): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181539013732?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Correction is now 180 days not 90 I believe was stated changes a while back.
Our Policy Update will come into effect 18th November 2014, including our extended 180 day dispute window.
Though it say 18th?
yea so the new policy probably doesn't effect any purchases before the 18th of November.

I recently did a pre-order through him and received my item after around 10 weeks+.
The 3P figure I got had a price bump of 8 bucks after a couple of weeks so I guess it's common practice for this seller.
One thing to note is that he/she packs items in thick white foam without a box... It's just taped together with clear tape.
My figure's box thus came badly crushed on one end... seller has promised to send me a new box and I'm waiting on this before I leave feedback.
Communication is swift and you get a tracking number plus email notification when the parcel is at your door step... Had to rush home to pick mine up but it was there as per email.
Would suggest that you ask them to ship your stuff in a sturdy box or you'll go through the headache of seeking for another one when it gets damaged

Man this is frustrating...
Won 2 auctions from the same seller last night about midnight, and I'm still waiting for a combined postage price from the seller after 2 emails (one early this morning, one about 10 mins ago)
Looks like I'm going to miss out of the sale discount now, which sucks because I don't really want to pay full price for the auctions I won :/

the 20% ends in 1 hr and a half! is the postage greater than the 20% discount?

Paying 2 lots of postage+item prices (with the discount) instead of 1 will be more expensive than just paying the full (non discounted) amount of the final auction price. In all honesty, combined shipping shouldn't be any extra than just one of the items due to small size and weight, but I can't pay until I get a combined invoice :/
If I had of known this would happen, I wouldn't have bid as much as I did. :(
I figured a whole day would be enough time to get it sorted.

Mate just request to retract your bid and let them know. You don't have to pay for the items as long as you communicate with the seller. They can cancel the transaction, offer to next highest bidder or relist etc.

Ebay noted AEST instead of daylight saving time... so I'm thinking you might have had another hour. Not that you'd want to risk it.

If they have postage amounts listed for each item, perhaps pay for both separately just to get some discount out of it... and if they are an honourable seller, they will refund the excess postage later. And if they don't ask them for it if it is an excessive difference.
If they do refund the difference, you'll end up getting the full 20% discount, plus combined shipping.
If the timing really is EAST and not DST, you still have 25 minutes left.

Hmmm... looks like it might have been DST, as the promotion isn't advertised anymore (unless there was no point in advertising it with less than an hour left).
Moot now, as it's midnight here too now.

I thought about it, but a commitment is a commitment (my father was a real stickler for that when I was growing up. haha) And, in the grand scheme of things, its not so bad I guess.

I don't like doing that sort of thing without consulting and organising with the seller first. If I do it without talking to them first, I'm worried they wouldn't refund me the extra postage because we didn't come to an agreement beforehand.
Anyway, it's all paid for now. I missed the discount - which sucks - but there are a lot of worse things that can happen I guess. I'll just chalk it up to a lesson learned for next time :o

Yes. I've bought from him before and he responds fairly quickly to messages should there be problems.

My experience was with pre-ordered stuff and it was past the Paypal and eBay protection/feedback periods when the items were released... He did reply to my messages fairly quickly.
I'd say be patient and the parcels will get here...
