Havn't seen any reviews on this guy so thought I'd post one up. Skywarp is my favorite Decepticon I just love his color scheme the most and his ability to teleport in the G1 cartoon is pretty neat shame it didn't get more use out of it as I don't remember many eps where he used it to great effect. Anyway this figuire is your standard MP11 recolor has all the same articulation and transformation as you'd expect but lacks many accessories like the cape even though he doesn't wear the cape it still looks quite nice on him.

His paint scheme is just perfect in my opinion the paint apps on his previous outings have far too much black on him and very minimal purple but this has the right balance of color. I also prefer this shade of purple to the one used on the Takara one which seems closer to a lavender shade. In alt mode he looks stunning as an F15 in this color scheme.

Is he worth buying? I'd say no he's far too expensive for what you get. Especially if you already have a previous Skywarp in your collection. At $170 USD you're not getting much very limited accessories and a very outdated mold especially when you compare this to Ultra Magnus that just came out. The engineering is so dated on Skywarp compared to the recent MP's and his transformation a little finiky I still have trouble getting those legs to extend. Not to mention his torso is floppy. Personally I bought greenscream then skipped every seeker till MP11 and these 2 are the only MP11 seekers I have so far. I was not a fan of the 2 previous Skywarp's which is why I don't own them. Also the insignias on this Skywarp are not upside down like MP11 which is mildly annoying but I'm hoping reprolabels can fix that in time.

Yes the yellow is fairly noticeable but doesn't really bother me too much and no stand for him either. Also lacks the missile racks that come with MP3 but MP11 doesn't have them either. Would have been nice if they used a unique face sculpt like MP6/7 but at least his face is white and not grey like Starscream.

Same here, in some ways you are paying more just to for once getting the decepticon logo right for once. To be honest, I expected a darker black.

I am definately not getting it based on the price as I paid only $145 for my MP-11 starscream and sunstorm.

I selected the last poll option, but I don't think that I have "too many" Seekers/Skywarps (one of each character is enough for me :o); I just already have MP06. :o I think that this toy has nicer colours than MP06, but not really worth getting another one just for that (MP06's colours are still just fine - plus my thing with 'mould uniformity' :p).

My thoughts judging from photos and what I've read here:
* I do like the more toy-accurate colours, except for the red eyes. I'd prefer them to be toy-accurately yellow like on Hasbro's MP Skywarp. It's kinda weird that they've gone to so much effort to make the toy look so beautifully toy-accurate, only to omit correct eye colour. :confused: But otherwise this toy does look just gorgeous. :)
* The lack of additional/bonus accessories is disappointing, especially considering that this toy is approximately AU$90 dearer than MP06 was. :eek: I can understand not giving him a crown and cape - that would actually be really inappropriate for his character (Skywarp is absolutely a follower, not a leader), but surely they could've chucked in a base and stand! Interesting to read that he comes with the Dr. Arkeville pilot from the old Seeker mould and not the generic fighter pilot that comes with the new Seekers.

I personally thought that they were going more cartoon accurate with their colouring, and I think that they did a spectacular job. I'm glad that they kept the toon-accurate red eyes instead of yellow, as I enjoy the cartoon-nostalgia over the toy-nostalgia

I'd have to agree I prefer my MP's to resemble the cartoon more then the toys since I grew watching the cartoon and only had a few Transformers growing up. The yellow eyes was one of the reasons I skipped over the Hasbro Skywarp. The first Takara one as well looks off from the animation model too even the minimal purple they use doesn't match the animation model as much as this one.

You know what these guys are missing? That's right Takara, their frickin leader!! Why Takara has taken so long and still not announced or released a new MP Megatron is beyond me.

I would have thought with the teasers for the 3rd party Apollyon (ie. no-Megatron) MP scaled figure, that this would have been the kick up the arse Takara needed. But still silence from them!!

I will just have to keep on waiting I guess.....

Nah, Buzzsaw is in alt mode next to Soundblaster in alt mode. I like to have at least one version in the other mode with my figures, so tend to use the repaints for that purpose (eg. Soundblaster, Tigertrack, Sunstorm etc).

I received mine on Wed from PC. After Ramjet and Thrust this is my first 'regular' Seeker. It was still a bit fiddly getting him together into alt mode, I haven't tried putting him back into bot mode. There is a bit of a gap where the cockpit window parts meet. I was also expecting the black paint to be glossy, not sure where I got that impression from. Anyway those are my first thoughts :)

The stripes are a carry-over from the original MP-6 whereas the insignia position is G1-accurate (only the G1 cartoon inverted them, but the toy, comics, books etc. all had them upside-up).

Truth is, I have saved a bucket of money wanting all the newer seekers to match the alt deco of MP-11 and MP-11S.
Would it not have been cheaper to have simply gotten MP6 and applied the included stickers as you please (http://redalert.la.coocan.jp/toybox/tf/g1/TFMP06/TFMP06.html)? :confused: Unless you're really that keen to have an MP11 mould based Skywarp over an MP-3 based one :o (not that any of us knew that MP3 would be retooled as MP11 back then :p).

i see...Maybe I saw pics of that one? I dunno, I thought I saw this one and it looked like Loud Pedal and G2 Sideswipe, that nice rich glossy black, but nope :p

*I voted 'only if cheap'. I was able to use loyalty points from premium collectables to get a good discount. I like the overall look and I want the character but it is not good value for money and now I don't think it can hold up in some ways to the advancements and trickery of more recent figures.

The original MP3 design (which post MP11 Seekers are still fundamentally based on) by Kawamori Shouji was ... very Kawamori. It would be nothing surprising for Macross collectors, but it's a very different aesthetic for Transformers. I basically sum up the MP Seekers as being glorified transformable display pieces rather than playable toys. And post MP3 Seekers have attempted to rectify this issue, such as the use of more durable plastic, and of course the retooling done on MP11 (which does make it look less accurate in jet mode, but it is a better action figure in robot mode).

A lot of people complained about the prices for MP3, MP6 and especially MP7*, but post-MP11 Seekers are considerably dearer. I think that the pre-MP11 Seekers are just worth paying for at RRP, so yeah, I totally agree that post-MP11 Seekers are only worth it if purchased for <RRP.

I seriously almost didn't pre-order MP7 but finally bit the bullet because I just wanted to complete the set. It now feels like I'm biting missiles in comparison when I'm paying $155 for my MP Coneheads from PC with loyalty discount (it's otherwise $160 or 15984JPY (approx. $185) if I order directly from TakaraTOMY Mall, but including shipping would bring it over $200. And again, I'm only getting the MP Coneheads to complete the set. NONE of them are really worth paying over $100 for. :( The MP Coneheads are proving to be the most expensive toys that I'm getting in regards to price vs inherent value of toys. :rolleyes: MP Seekers are just such rip-offs these days... definitely only every buy them if you can get them cheaper (never cheap, just cheaper :o).
