I am a little put off by the trailer colors too but the robot mode seems fine but the blue seems a little flat (Could be the lighting on pics) and there should have been more red on the trailer sides. However I have noticed that the face is no longer the same shape as before but I can't tell difference as its too blurry on those pics.

I still can't wait, even with the over sized BFG. Magnus without armor is just a white Prime and I am grateful that its being done.

Ultra Magnus looks a bit bulky, but the colours seem to be pretty G1 accurate..

I'm still unsure if I wanna get it, getting it means I have to get another Classic Megs to add on the trailer kit. And since I didn't put my name down for Kyle's order this time, I might just wait for RK to release it and see how it goes..

I think I read in some of the other forums that the original design for the face made him look "too young". Thats why they changed the face to make him look ... older since UM is indeed a very old dignified bot. Oooh cant wait for this one, glad I bought my Classics UM before it ran out.

I just saw every pic. Truly Awesome, I am glad I made the preorder.

At first I wasn't sure about the the face sculpt as the previous pics/flash/shadows made it seem a bit odd but in the pics where those things are not a factor, it looks good.

I can't wait till it arrives!

The original face was a bit 'young' looking and recent pics (as well as some in this new gallery) had shadows on each side which made it look odd.

I really like the set overall.
But i still think the head is off the mark...
The main problem is the nose.. the first pic you linked Kup, shows it clearly.. his nose either connects to his mouth, or it's too close to the eyes... it's not clear!
My preference would have also been for smaller eyes and thinner pipes on his head.

the 2nd would be for MISB purposes. I kind of like the feeling of having something that is valuable. Kinda would give me some ammunition against my parents constant "you should waste your money on toys"

Compared to the Cliffjumper upgrade kits (that were limited to 300), won't there be a tonne of City Commander kits produced?

Sure they'll become wanted in a few years time, but their lack of rarity (compared to the CJ Kits) will probably mean that their resale value won't increase a 1000-fold (for example, how much do you think this'll go for? That sounds like pretty drastic action to take...
(Couldn't they have have just put it aside? I'm sure it wouldn't have taken up that much space... :))

If they were cast resin parts the mould would have been rubber. I think that they're good for only 15-20 casts before the mould is destroyed. I could be wrong but I doubt that the moulds were machined steel. They still might however have a master to cast new moulds from.

The CJ kit laid the ground work for CC. As such, the kit designer always intended to make 300 only, and the mould wasn't built to last. There's no way it could have been machined steel for cost reasons.

CJ was like a garage kit, while CC is like a real toy. I believe the final product will very well have better QC than Hxxxxx (which is sadly, not hard to beat nowadays).
