Coverage from the Japanese C3xHobby Convention (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/japanese-c3xhobby-convention-coverage---alternity-gt-r-convoy-stuntron-wildrider-and-more-165689/)

That Alternity GT-R Convoy is looking mighty detailed while Wildrider is starting to grow on me more & more... :)

:)It looks nice but a little dull in that colour scheme, the Black Hot Rod is growing on me, I prefer it to the Botcon version:).

It looks good, but Im not a fan of using that mold for Wildrider, Id rather they made a new car mold instead, coz everytime I look at it it doesnt click as Wildrider, but a "nemesis Hotrod". Love how they displayed MP Thundercracker in transforming series.

Not too fond of the silver colour scheme with the alternity but the robot mode is looking mighty fine. I really like the legs, especially in the back shot. Although the car roof backpack will remain a staple in these licensed vehicles. The detail is great and personally want the alternate red OP scheme.

Take the spoiler off the wildrider repaint. Should look a million bucks better.

Yeah the Alternity detail and engineering is impressive but I am not sold on the character chosen. Perhaps if they continue the line with better suited characters such as the Stunticons.

Henkei Wildrider would have been good if they had ditched the flame decals. It just looks like a Dark Gray Hot Rod with the flames.

I really like that, i like how it's kind of cold and boring. That's how i perceive a real TF to be.

The Alternity is brilliant. That's all that matters to me. :D

Wish I could afford more of them to bash into Streak.

The alternity looks nice, the only concern for me is scale.
The multi part Thundercracker display looks awesome.

WOW! I didn't notice that Exile Perfect Year Convoy (music label repaint). It looks as fugly as hell! I am surprised anyone approved that as I am unsure who would want such a garish thing!

I have to say the Alternity looks pretty damn awesome. To me it looks a bit like a missing link bettween the movie TF's and the Binaltechs. On one had I somewhat agree with Kup that character wise it doesn't quite feel Prime, on the other hand that mould is soo cool on its own that it doesn't need to be just another G1 re-hash, for once I'd like it if they made up some new TF's for this line. At the very least I hope they get a story line, like some sort of new universe where Prime is a hip sportscar. The Binaltech storyline was kinda cool but ended up being a mess trying to tie the Transformers multiverse together.

from transformers wiki..

Takara has announced the release of a new toy following a similar overall concept (licensed vehicle mode, diecast parts) to be produced at a smaller scale (1/32), under the new name Alternity. At this point, it's still unclear whether this is going to be limited to a single release or the beginning of a fully-fledged new line.

One day, I hope pics emerge of some-sort of comparison of him next to a figure we're familiar with (for size purposes)

Hmm.. they seem to keep shifting the release date. I heard it was postponed till December, then January, but HLJ are saying November again...

Yeah, from the initial announcement of 'towards the end of the year', it seemingly moved to January based on a magazine scan, then at the hobby show, there were signs saying Winter 2008, and now a few retailers have it pegged for November 21! All i know is that i'll be there day one for both colours!

Another JP online retailer has listed January 22nd for the release of Alternity GT-R Convoy and Henkei Ratchet, so looks more likely that January will be the new date.

This might be a side question, but are we going to see a Hasbro Wildrider or Ratchet?

If not I might have to get my first Henkei! :)

griffin
14th September 2008, 12:42 PM
Ratchet - should be, as it would be more markettable with the character name used in the movie universe.
Wildrider - maybe not, as it has very similar colours and flame deco to the BotCon Evil Rodimus.
But that is just my opinion. I don't recall anything mentioned about them yet on the Hasbro side of things.

Thanks Griff. I might go Henkei Ratchet anyways.

I heard the reason Henkei Ratchet is being pushed back a couple of months was because Hasbro initially weren't gonna be releasing a Classics Ratchet but later on they changed their mind - & not wanting TakaraTomy to take all their sales, They reached an agreement to release their respective Ratchets simultaneously (TakaraTomy as a part of Henkei & Hasbro as a part of the 25th Anniversary Line)

i would be super happy if there were additional mods to the toy, e.g extra additional equipment for his fists...

Where did you hear this from?

I've spoken with the head of TFs at Takara (Takagi) and he told me that Takara and Hasbro are contractually bound to remain as separate entities when it comes to marketing Transformers in their respective markets. He explained to me that Takara are not allowed to market or sell anything TF related in a Hasbro market (e.g.: Australia) without approval from Hasbro and vice-versa. For example, Masterpiece Ultra Magnus - a Takara Transformer - was sold as a Target exclusive by Hasbro - i.e.: it was Hasbro Australia (probably George Khoury) who sought permission from Takara (most likely Mr. Takagi) to do it (and thus it was Hasbro who distributed the toys to Targets here and thus why it was sold here for a relatively cheap price, not import price). Takara also sells Hasbro-Transformers typically as Toys R Us exclusives, but again, it's done with permission from Hasbro.

So basically it means that Hasbro and Takara are forbidden from marketing in each other's markets. Both companies have a binding agreement which states that each of them markets TFs in their own respective markets and that "never the twain shall meet" so to speak. So for Hasbro to take Henkei into consideration for their development/marketing of Universe/Classics feels like it could be a violation of that contract to me. Unless they've recently had a major change in their contractual agreement I would be surprised if Hasbro actually took Henkei into consideration for their own market.

One of the boards (I can't remember if it was Seibertron (http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?t=44310) or TFW (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/189439-henkei-ratchet-alternity-convoy-postponed.html))

Yes, I know Board-talk doesn't always equal truth... :o

Hmm the Alternity is a lot smaller than I imagined. Slightly larger than a deluxe, if those pictures are anything to go by.
