The TakaraTomy site (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/robots-in-disguise-201x-48/takara-website-update-transformers-adventure-181909/) has announced their name for the Robots In Disguise cartoon/series, as "Transformers Adventure" (hence the "TAV" code for the toys)... and some toy images are now being revealed as well from other sources.

The TakaraTomy site shows the Warrior Class Bumblebee toy, which we saw in the recent Figure King magazine scans... and gives us a closer look at the circular "barcode", which has six different colours compared to just two on the Hasbro ones. (the Japanese "barcode" unlocks animated clips on a Japanese app, as the Hasbro game app is just for the western Markets and the Hasbro toys)

As for toy reveals, a toy dealer site has been tweeting the toy images, which will probably be mirrored in the one news article at TFW, but as soon as the images were tweeted there were about 6 different news postings by fans trying to be the first with the news.

There look to be two groups of images, one lot that are toys for the TAV/RID cartoon, and one lot of redeco toys that are not from the cartoon.

The first batch (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/1032199-takara-transformers-adventures-figures-revealed.html) (cartoon toys)...
TAV01 Bumblebee (RID warrior)
TAV02 Grimlock (RID warrior)
TAV03 Strongarm (RID warrior)
TAV04 Steeljaw (RID warrior)
TAV05 Fixit (RID One-Step changer)
TAV06 Underbite (RID One-Step changer)

The second batch (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/1032197-takara-transformers-adventures-exclusive-repaints.html) (non-cartoon toys)...
TAV07 Roadblock (light green/purple redeco GEN DLX Scoop)
TAV08 Rival Strongarm (mid green/orange redeco RID Warrior Strongarm)
TAV09 Swoop (black/red/grey redeco Animated Swoop)
(TAV10 Snarl - NOT SHOWN, probably Animated Snarl)
TAV11 Knockout (grey/black/red redeco Beast Hunters DLX Knockout)
TAV12 Dreadwing (dark blue redeco Beast Hunters Dreadwing)
-
TAV13 Transformers Nemesis Prime (black redeco RID Warrior Optimus)
TAV14 Transformers Ultra Magnus (minor redeco Beast Hunters VOY Ultra Magnus)

The release dates of these were previously noted as...
TAV01 - TAV12 - March
TAV13 - TAV14 - April
(might change)

One thing I noticed on my RID One-Step Sideswipe toy was the same Kanji character on his chest and car front... but I'm having trouble trying to work it out.

The closest I could get to was 速 (which translates to Fast, so is related to the character)... but the sculpting on the toy has the top cut off.

On the Japanese version of this toy (http://takaratomymall.jp/shop/g/g4904810828105/) it has the Kanji panted, making me notice that there are two more on the rear of the car mode on each side as well... the second Character is the same as on the chest, but the first one is too distorted by the rear tyres for me to work out.
Anyone able to more easily recognise it?

Never mind, I was able to track it down by the 3-square box on the left of the character - 瞬 速 (which google translates to instantaneous speed).

Confirming that your translation is correct. :) 瞬速 (Shunsoku) means instantaneous or blinding speed.

I hope Bombshell, Shrapnel and Powerglide are all in G1 decos, otherwise I'll have to go with Hasbro versions.

As the 21st of March approaches, and the impending flood of these Japanese toys... we get to see the packaging to look out for, with photos of Bumblebee and Strongarm in packaging (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/robots-in-disguise-201x-48/transformers-adventure-bumblebee-strongarm-in-package-182271/).

The 17 Adventure toys in wave one are...

TED05 - Junkion (AOE Power Battler - blue/grey redeco) - March 21 (1900yen)

Just note that some are not from the RID cartoon, but are just being released under the same banner... possibly as it was easier and cheaper than creating another "series" and packaging to sell to retailers.

Wave 2 items that gets released next month (April) were on display at a Japanese convention (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/japanese-transformers-40/images-from-anime-japan-expo-2015-182328/)... and despite the massive amount of wave 1 items released this week in Japan & Asia, wave 2 is just three toys!

Two "non gimmick" and one "gimmick"...

TAV13 - Nemesis Prime (black/aqua redeco RID Warrior Optimus) - (2,500yen)
TAV14 - Ultra Magnus (Beast Hunters VOY - minor redeco) - (4,300yen)
-
TED06 - Big Optimus Prime (RID 3-step - minor redeco) - (3,600yen)

The odd thing here is that in the Japanese Adventure (RID) toyline, they are releasing a black redeco of the Warrior Class Optimus toy, before the regular version... IF they ever release the regular coloured version as a toy in Japan.

After getting my first wave in over the weekend, I was surprised by the extent that Takara has gone to in order to hide the QR codes on the bots while in package. Every single toy had a plastic covering over the real sticker, with a larger fake sticker.

A bit late to the party, but I really had to figure out what the TED meant with the gimmick toys.... and now I do, so want to share, so that all future references by me on this site are not confusing. (to differentiate them from the TAV Adventure toys)

Since I'm still waiting on mine from HLJ, I've had to resort to hunting down photos on the internet (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-in-package-photos-of-takara-tomy-transformers-adventure-wave-1/32467/) for actual package labelling, which wasn't easy because collectors are prioritising the main TAV toys, and mostly ignoring the gimmick TED toys. (just like with Hasbro toys)

TAV - we know stands for Transformers Adventure... but does anyone know for sure if the V is from Adventure or actually stands for another word starting with that letter?

As for TED - all of the online stores that I looked up (including HLJ and Amazon Japan) were calling them Adventure toys as well, but the Japanese writing on the TED toys has different words on the packaging instead of "Transformers Adventure" in Japanese Katakana (to roughly sound out the English words).

The top two words are Easy Dynamic (in Katakana), which is the ED in TED... which should mean that the T is for Transformers.
The third word underneath is Series (in Katakana), which seems a little redundant, especially since it isn't even included in the TED acronym. (it also makes it the Easy Dynamic Series series :p )

So I'll be editing existing resources on this site to change any titles that call them Adventure or Adventure Gimmick, to Easy Dynamic, and noting it on any of the reference images in future.

There are toys in the TAV line that I'm sure people will argue should be in the TED line. One Step Fixit and One Step Underbite are in the "kid line" in Hasbro's lineup yet they are TAV in Japan.

I just picked up a few of the TAV's (Grimlock, Swoop and Bloody Knockout) and a TED (Junkion) today.

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7623/16821975598_cb76c5ab43_z.jpg

Without reading I just assumed the TED's were one-steps, but Junkion is 6 steps to transform so it's a little confusing as their packaging is very similar in size to the Hasbro 1-steps (and they are actually on the same hooks mixed in with the Hasbro one steps in the stores here).

I actually quite like the TED toys aesthetically... I was tempted to pick up Prowl but because I recently got my son the Hasbro 1-step Prowl gave it a miss. Now I know they aren't that simple I might go back and get it if they still have stock.

griffin

Yeah, it's kinda confusing, having a couple of easy one-steps in the "regular" TAV line, and then having a Power Battler of six steps in the Easy Dynamic line.

And it's not like the Fixit & Underbite were included because they were wanting to have the main cast in the TAV line, because the one-step Sideswipe was in the TED line.
So really doesn't make any sense. (plus all the non-RID toys thrown into both lines)
