Combiner Wars Hotspot and Groove first look

The first look at the rumoured (I guess confirmed now) Hotspot and Groove, is from the fan-vote on a future Combiner redeco.

In the category of (Voyager) Torso and (Legends) Weapon pairing, one option is "Truck and Motorcycle", and since the fan-vote is using "regular release" moulds, this is our first look at Voyager Hotspot and Legends Groove (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generations-classics-44/first-look-at-combiner-wars-hot-spot-and-groove-181924/) (in vehicle mode only).


So, does this new Voyager mould look like it could have been designed to also fulfil the role of Onslaught by replacing the ladder with a cannon... similar to the Optimus/Motormaster mould - sacrificing the look of one, to accommodate two distinctly different character "homages".

Yeah, good chance Onslaught will be a re-mold of Hot Spot.

Fatbot suggested via Twitter: Hotspot, Contructicon Hook, Onslaught, RiD Optimus Prime and the Fan-Built bot - Your suggestion, Paulbot, of a Sentinel Prime too completely did not occur to me! :eek:

That a lot of uses for a base mold with some light retooling/repainting going on, all seems rather plausible to me too.

Hot Spot and Groove actually look kinda cool. Ofcourse a lot can change between concept line art and release.

I don't think that's concept line art. The Powerglide art looks like the shaded line art used in his instructions, so I'd imagine it's the same for all those pieces.

Anyone else get the feeling this line could have some fantastic repaints for traditionally non-combined characters?

OP/Motormaster as Thunderclash, Scourge

They look kinda a bit more like Technobots then Protectorbots to me, however it's hard to tell without colour.

Really looking forward to seeing more of that Hot Spot, looks wicked.
It will be a long wait for its release however in retail.
