But I'm disappointed that these are just more repaints. There's so many toys Takara could be rereleasing and instead they take Starscream and just repaint it. At least when they did that ambulance version of Ironhide they remolded the toy a bit. And not only that -- they make you buy two repaints to get the one you like instead of selling them separately. The blue repaint is good, but I am so sick of these "Nemesis"-type Black recolours of existing toys. :rolleyes:

I was reading a G1 UK comic where Thundercracker and Skywarp appear in a black and white comic... they kept referring to each other by name a lot so that readers can tell who's who, but a few times they don't and it's impossible to tell! Gah! :p

This is why we intentionally gave Deepcover, Tiger Track and Clampdown distinctly different looking heads (and subtle differences with the shoulder cannons) in the OzFormers 2003 "On Devil's Ground" comic.

He was a little large (although most of it is just fur) but he got real sick a few months ago and hasn't put the weight back on (still looks big thanks to the fur) :)

lcz128, they look to be part of the same line of KO transformers that Big W has stocked for years now.

The first 3 (Futuristic Tank, Jet and Sports Car could all combine into a bigger robot.

If they are of the same line and quality, then they are better made and designed than many KO's but still not great.

They are however great for custom fodder.

They have used the Armada Optimus Prime toy mould so although they have added a trailer it's still a KO of Hasbro/Takara product.

There are plenty of KOs sold in major chains. A few years ago they sold KO Constructicons (those black and yellow ones). And you can still find KO Machine Robo toys too.

I just came home from some early shopping and I got tomorrow's (now today's) prices. My receipt is stamped at 10:29 pm, so sale prices do start early.

This Kmart had at around 50 ea. of the leaders, and luckily, the 2nd Bulkhead I tried worked fine. They only had four Ultras, of which I grabbed three, so expect lots of leaders and look hard for Ultras.

I used the Target catalogue. Spurred on by Paulbot's scornful mockery of my suggestion that it might be possible, I deviated from my original destination of K-Mart Campbellfield and down the Western Highway onto Airport West. I marched in with my obese visage and begged for their sympathy to price match Target's Voyager sale price of $35. Wanting to get the image of my fat self from their sight as quickly as possible, they practically heaped it on me plus 10% the difference. :rolleyes: :eek: :p

In all seriousness, I was partially spurred on by Paulbot. So I have to thank him for this. :p I hadn't picked up the Robot Heroes yet and wanted to price-match at a K-Mart so I was heading to Campbellfield but then remembering Paulbot's dismissal I had to vindicate myself and prove that I could do it. I didn't even need the figures b/c mine had already arrived from the US. But I figured I'd give it a shot. I thought it out and figured the best and least problematic way of getting the deal done was finding a shopping centre with both K-Mart and Target. That way, I rationalised, I'd tell them there's a Target up the centre and they could check for themselves. As it turned out, it turned out to be much easier than that. I presented the catalogue and it was a very easy price match. She just called her manager and they just processed it and I had a long chat with them (including of all things how expensive TFs are). One of the things that made it easy was just amicably engaging them in very casual conversation. I wanted more but I'd already blown more than I could afford with a few F2F and eBay items to pay for. Otherwise, I'd have scalped got the rest for other board members.

And to think it all started with just wanting the latest Robot Heroes!

Be careful there STL. Price matching to another store's matching product or assortment (size) is okay, but tricking them into price matching Ultras to Voyagers would constitute fraud. No matter how bad the prices of TFs are in this country, if you manage to do that sort of thing, even for the benefit of others, please keep it private, don't post about it here (no illegal activity is to be posted or solicited in a posting, as per the board rules).

Went out to my closest Westfield. Picked up a lovely Animated Leader Megs for $71.20 plus my 5% staff discount at Kmart :D.

Not wanting to wait for general release, I went to see if I could get Animated Ultra Magnus from Myer for the same price instead of the $99 they wanted to charge me. A lovely young lady made sure that it was all in place (I was wary, its same class, but not same figure, as what Kmart had). "Bought" price according to her was $68.75 or so, so the $71.20 that Kmart was offering was a viable option. Made sure that leaders were on special, and bam, I now have Animated Leader Ultra Magnus just waiting to be opened!

I got a customiser to do this one up for me. I have a Movie Galvatron, done up Meg and just have to have the Cyclonus.. although not official, we tried to make this as close to G1 whilst giving it the movie feel.

I can live with Megatron with alternate modes aside from a gun. Armada and Energon gave us horribly unrealistic alternate modes & fairly simple transformations. Neither was especially clever. Cybertron was a little more clever, but just as unrealistic. The movie Megatron did a decent job of a really bad idea. Animated is, ironically, more realistic, than the Armadaverse toys, and has clever engineering. Gun or not, it's a worthwhile Decepticon flagship toy for a change.

Thanks guys. I love these latest acquisitions. I dont know if you realised but I have sold off some of my collection on eBay recently. You can still grab a piece of the one of a kind. I have a Galvatron, Custom Megatron and also the Warmachine made Onslought and Swindle pair right now. Just search under Custom transformers on ebay.com.au.

DirtyDigger, if people are interested, I would be more than happy to create a thread for my collection of Alternators and any other range. I will put up the alternators/binaltech this week sometime if you like. I have quite a fair few shots of it.

Bogerman, I had the same reaction when Jaiba showed me his custom of these figures and I knew I had to have them. Lucky he would make them for me.

Yeah she is a beautiful repaint.

Kudos to Aaron Archer on that one as he appears to have led the repaint project. Let's hope we get more focused repaints such as this in the future.

It makes a big difference when the designer cares about what he is doing rather than repainting a figure only to make a quick/easy sale which is now all too common.

Reflector (Diaclone) but missing the lens and some missiles I think. But the 3 bots are good condition.

The condition is so so. The white have these brown spots on it.. but mainly bought it because I needed the Pretender bot.

G1 Whirl with complete weapon. Didnt get the chance to get pics of this.

And, one of the ebay sellers sent me a wrong figure and said I could keep this one and they will send me what I won.. so got lucky and for free.

I have lodge a paypal dispute and the seller replied he/she has over 200 TFs and that this figure must have been built like that! That is plain BxxxSxxx! He asked to send figure back for full refund, but I said it was too much hassle and asked for part of the refund only, see how it goes.

And no Kup, the 2 missiles are missing as well. :( But he did not include that in listing so it's okay. STL, that Lego technic set was only $25.50 after discount from the last day of the Kmart sale and Big W also has it for $28.88 I think. That was for the BF actually cause he said he liked the Technic series. But we shall not discuss that further in this thread, lest the complains. :D :p

The different coloured head was noted on a toy review I read, and is probably due to difference in prototype (packaging pic) and the production line toy.

The difference in Reflector and Micromax is with the middlebot. The metal rod that the arms slide through is so thinner than the ones on reflector. Reflector's has added plastic bulkring to the surrounding hole to make it more stable/secure while in Microman version there's just a hole the pole goes through and the pole's end slightly thicker to prevent the arm from coming out. So basically you can actually take the whole arm out if the hole becomes loose or wider due to playwear - Microman. Reflectors version has that extra mold of plastic which prevents this.

Nothing that would effect reprolabelling the toys.

The only substantial difference I'm aware of is the flash-weapon - I think the fitting is bit bigger on the TF version so if you took the TF flash and stuck it on Microx then it's kinda loose... maybe?? I'm not really sure. Otherwise I think there's no real difference between the toys.

In the variations page they also mention that one of the Reflector releases was also exactly the same as the Microx version. It was the Japanese release of Reflector that was identical to Microx while the US one had the mods.

Henkei has a darker yellow than universe one with the added chromes, but otherwise the paint jobs aren't really good as well. Some smudges around the edges of the windows.

Both the colours of these two are almost identical, except if you notice the top sirens are different, I prefer the Henkei one in this case.

I am the same. I hate minicons but love Micromasters.

The G1 factor may have something to do with it but I think that its more to do with their portrayal in fiction rather than the line it belongs to.

In G1, the Micromasters were characters like any other.

In Armada, they were little more than a gimmick with hardly any personality whatsoever. They were little more than beeping droids and the Pokamon aspect was very souring.

I will admit that technically speaking Minicons are better toys with better engineering than Micros but for me, they lack in personality and appeal.

The comic Mini-Cons were pretty cool. I also really liked how the Armada comics portrayed Cybertron as a caste society with the Mini-Cons as a low nigh-untouchable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Untouchable_(social_system)) caste (similar to say the Japanese "Eta" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burakumin)) and the Autobots as an exclusive warrior caste (similar to the Samurai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai) caste).

Well... the Mini-Cons didn't seem to be actively hated or discriminated against like true untouchable castes are. They're kinda like the Amish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amish) in terms of being very much excluded and detached from the rest of society (in fact, the Mini-Cons were even more isolated than the Amish - the Decepticons had managed to enslave every one of them before the Autobots even became aware of it)... but the Amish aren't a caste whereas the Mini-Cons do seem to be like that... arguably a separate sub-race of Transformer from Autobots, Decepticons and other Cybertronians (in the Armada comics Cybertron appears to be primarily populated by factionless Cybertronian civilians whom the Autobots were entrusted to defend, again, much like the Samurai of feudal Japan).

Yeah I know they had more personality in the comic. I will start reading the Armada comics soon and this may help me warm up a bit to minicons but I doubt that it will drastically change my opinion.
