The images are only small (http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_CA/shop/details.cfm?R=E1471D4A-5056-9047-F533-B7227DC48B68:en_CA), because they are on one of the Hasbro sites (Canada), but gives us another look at the actual toy in and out of packaging.

Somehow the Jetfire mould done in blue does quite well for a Thundercracker homage... despite the different type of fighter jet and robot body type.

Thundercracker is wave 2, so it will probably be some time before it gets released. (Wave 1 with the two Megatrons is still yet to come out, and spacing of Leader waves can be anyone's guess)

He looks really good. I'm slightly disappointed that they abandoned the sky blue from the NYCC display's toy, but I'll still get him. My favourite character (and favourite incarnation) after all.

How can such a large toy have such a horrible looking jet mode, the proportions all look so squished that I thought I was looking at the Legends size toy.

At a full price leader price point, I'm not going near this guy.

Intresting to see Thundercracker but not Starscream, I guess it has something to do with the comics

Thundercracker's had a semi-important role as a bit of an outcast. This toy is his current body. Starscream's still using the Armada version, from last I've seen.

Can't get past the fact that they're using the new Jetfire mold. Sure it's been tweaked but it just looks...wrong. :p

It surprisingly looks really good in both modes. But won't get this.

do you think it would come with a little buster? :D

Well the cockpit does open...

As for colour, remember the lighting plays a big part in how a colour is perceived, so there may not actually be much difference between the in hand showings at NYCC and in person.

it looks like there have been some significant changes to the chest.

I really want to see either F-22 or F-35 seekers. I guess I'll just keep waiting.

It's accurate to the kickass comic design. The legs are shockingly accurate, even if they probably changed his comin design to match the toy somewhat. The robot mode wings are still different though.

I think that's what stands out the most for me in robot mode. very different profile.

Shame this isn't a voyager size, at that size they could of got some more mileage with the mold especially with seeker repaints. In my opinion, the ideal size for a reboot of the seekers is voyager. The original release Jetfire works better as a leader though.

It's kind of forgiveable as well though, considering the jet mode would look pretty weird with the IDW styled wings.

I keep seeing people saying things about it (and other GEN toys) being accurate to the IDW comic... but isn't IDW the one who is drawing based on the toys?
The toys are over a year in development, so unless the IDW design was more than a year older than the toy's release, wouldn't it just be IDW knowing what is coming as a toy, and draw accordingly to match the upcoming toy?
Like, when did IDW Thundercracker (in the Dawn of the Autobots era) first appear in that current "Leader toy" form?

The current comic Thundercracker is based of designs from as far back as Infiltration I think, but definitely the original ongoing series.

EDIT: I've said it elsewhere, but most toy accurate comic portrayals (or even inclusion) are post toy design, ie Scoop, Rattrap, Armada Starscream, Rhinox, Crosscut, Windblade etc.

Some toy designs are more or less based on the comics though, TC, Brainstorm, Skids, Tailgate and Springer for example

I'm not sure. IDW Thundercracker looks pretty independent. I'd say this is one of the few times where IDW had a bit of design leeway. If this toy was indeed made ready before the comics, then it probably is designed from the retool.

Someone in Asia has got their hands on a Leader Thundercracker toy, so it could be out soon. Some photos have been posted up (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generations-classics-44/generations-combiner-wars-leader-class-thundercracker-in-hand-images-182265/) of it in both modes, with the Legends Thundercracker toy.

I don't read the comics maybe that's why I'm behind :P

this is the look that Thundercracker and the other seekers had back in the first IDW comics, so this is probably one of the few times Hasbro based their design on an IDW one, instead of the other way around (unless the toy design was shelved for almost a decade). Brainstorm *might* have been another, but basically all the Thrilling 30 deluxes were toy first designs, regardless of what online commenters have said

How about stealth Megatron? He's been in there a while, from what I can see. Would they have designed a toy that looks like that first that deviates so much?

I must say, those images have made me really really REALLY want Energon Megatron.
