View Full Version : When will it end?

I am sick of the Movie line. It's clogging up store shelves with space that, by now, should belong to Animated and Universe, which are the only toys right now that I want. The only things that are really left at the places I usually buy TFs are the deluxes, the screenbattles, the bumper battlers, and a Starscream-Optimus Prime-Arcee threepack that isn't going to move any time soon. No-one is going to buy that crap, especially since there is no movie that's keeping people interested in them.
And now Hasbro show more repaints.
Here's a hint, Hasbro, via the words of Simon Furman: the movie is over...finished! Everyone wants Animated and/or Universe now. Wait until the next movie to peddle the movie toys to the public.
Anyone else really annoyed at the Movie line?

Btw SD you know that Transformers is slated to be a trilogy and that there's only 297 days left until the second installment hits cinemas right? ;)

Maybe they should have had the bulk of the toys on the shelves when the movie was out eh?! You gotta wonder who makes the distribution decisions etc

You seem to be right about people wanting Animated... the Animated toys seem to be flying off the shelves in my local stores (Except Voyager Megatron...)

I can't say Animated is flying off shelves near me, although it is moving better than the movie junk like the screen battle packs.
SD, if there is anything you want me to keep a look out for, send me a PM (:

My local Kmart has 8 leader class Brawl's for $95. These things have been on the shelf since the movie release! I makes me sick, then they fill up the TF stand with key rings and those die-cast 3 pack things. (sorry, these apall me so much I haven't bothered to learn their names.)
I've seen one animated TF Prime Megs two pack and NO universe items. Thank heaven's for online shopping!

I have not been toy browsing that much in the past couple of months but from what I have seen, Animated isn't moving all that much around my area either.
But I do agree. There is like a tiny spot dedicated to Universe and Animated and all the rest is shelfwarming movie figures.

Maybe all this leftover stock will lead to more sales/clearances to get rid of it all?
(Which will hopefully include discounts on Classics 2.0/Animated... :))

I wonder if these movie figures will be on shelves until interest for the sequel picks up, then Hasbro can sell them all then while people are waiting for the 2nd movie's toys to reach shelves???

The movie toys ends when TF2 movie comes out, me thinks... but then the retailers will probably have a massive sale to get rid of the old stocks.

K-Mart (and Myer earlier) were the only ones that have been trying.to do so. They did it twice before Animated was released, I believe, and they still couldn't move the stuff. All the Australian retailers got shafted bigtime by having stock the US didn't want after the peak of the line (ie. last Christmas).

The Major Retailers never seem to learn...
I mean, They have to blame someone - & I'd point the finger at their respective buyers who purchase in bulk from Hasbro... (eg. K-mart with their Battle-Damaged 3-pack = What the hell were they thinking?)

I think the stores got sucked in, the Movie toys sold very well during July, then they had no stock through September-November, and then they sold out when they finally got the stock back in for the Holiday period. Then we had nothing on the shelves again in February, so when Hasbro said they had much much more movie stock stores were probably very happy, and over-ordered, not realising that the fad was over.
Just seems very odd that there is now a heap of non-movie and movie repaint figures on shelves when there would have never been the same amount of actual movie characters figures on shelves when the movie was first released.

Yeah, I know that. I'm looking forward to the next movie. I don't care if it adds more toys, I just care that the toys from the first movie, which is now gone from cinemas, are still clogging up shelves when there should be more new product.
