Okay guys, I succumbed to temptation once again and decided to get the City Commander upgrade kit. Now I will need a loose Ultra Magnus for the upgrade kit. Please let me know if you have one for sale. Thanks heaps!

If I wasnt getting the upgrade kit myself I'd happily sell you mine, I never cared for the mold much, and originally only bought the set for Skywarp.

But now the upgrade kit has made him so very worthwhile.

mei..try getting the Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime 2pack..that's the only way to go...

Yeah really the only way to get him now is to grab an Optimus/Magnus 2-pack from eBay or (less likely) try and get the Magnus/Skywarp pack from eBay. Both are fairly pricey options. I managed to get the Magnus/Skywarp pack from a seller in the US, total cost ended up being just over $70 but this was when the dollar was way up in the 90's.

Okay don't come and smack me people, I DO have an Ultra Magnus + Skywarp 2 pack that I bought last year for around AUD$60 incld. shipping. But I want to keep that MISB for the moment just like I bought an extra Cliffjumper for the upgrade kit. I know it's just an issue I have.. :o

So all I'm looking for is a loose one, buying another 2 pack will mean I have extra skywarp or extra prime as well... :o

As far as your question "will TakaraTomy release Ultra Magnus?" - I am pretty sure they will. He may however be an upcoming exclusive since he was released as a store exclusive in the U.S. There seems to be an agreement between Takara & Hasbro that exclusives in one country will remain as exclusives in the other.

Presently there are four Henkei exclusives lined up - Skywarp, Thundercracker, Clear Prime, and Nemesis Prime. Takara is probably waiting for these exclusives to be finished before announcing Ultra Magnus, especially since two of these figures use the Prime mold.

hmmm, I just hope it looks similar to the one on the hasbro box (red eyes, blue face-plate). It just doesnt seem right being repainted as if he was already in the armor.

Thanks for linking that pic though Pulse... that's the first time i noticed the moulded seats! I only have Henkei OP and his windows are dark enough that you can barely see them.

Realistically,
If there was to be a Henkei UM in the future, I honestly couldn't see TakaraTomy going to all the effort to cast a new mould in the form of armour upgrades (ala. the City Commander kit)

If there was to be a Henkei UM, TakaraTomy would most probably take this:

Thanks for the help and discussion guys. Omega Supreme has kindly sold me his spare and loose Ultra Magnus. *Super happy and dancing around now* :D :D

I can photoshop classics prime and give you guys a preview of how he will look like. Check back this thread again later today.

Also I think Henkei will release Ultra Magnus, but probably just leave it in Hasbro colours and add on some chrome here and there like they did for Henkei Prime. :p

I couldn't find a good image to edit in robot mode because in robot mode, he is actually pretty much covered by the upgrade kit anyway and unless you want to look at him from the back, the colours are not obvious.

He actually used Optimus Prime for the demo kit, but a pity it's not in its colours, just in its sample grey mold. But it does shows you the area in robot mode where you can see the difference in using Prime of Magnus.

Ah, i had forgotten about the prototype pics (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=1587) Kyle took.
Since the prototypes lack colour, it's easier to work in reverse, leaving OP the same, and colouring in the City Commander.
The bits that are grey in this pic are actually silver on the toy i think, but i can't make it look like silver! :(
