How do you all feel about non-transforming figures? Revoltech, Action Master, Robot Replicas, etc.

I keep my figures in robot mode 95% of the time when they're not stored away. Despite that, I can never really feel the same about figures that don't physically transform. Even though they usually look way more screen/comic accurate than converting figures, my brain just says "Nope, not a transformer. No dopamine for you!"

Funnily enough, I do still like them 'that way' when it's a broken figure I've had to glue together that can no longer convert. My brain is weird sometimes.

I used to feel that way but I dont mind them so long as its not in vehicle mode lol.

It should also be aesthetically perfect and or super posable, which 90% of the time they cant do if it can also transform. Otherwise why bother?

If the figures have good articulation and good poseabilityI'm alright with them, unfortunately the latest non-transforming figures don't have good articulation, or much poseability at all :(

what about ones in vehicle form only? display TFs in both modes?

I love em. Robot mode ones of course. If they have good articulation, good show accuracy, or are just plain cute - like those mini figures and vinyls. It's hard not to collect a set of Autobots. :p

what about ones in vehicle form only?

I forgot about those. They're the worst. RPMs and stealth force are pretty pointless.

Depends, most of them are pointless but there are a few I will allow.

Meh. Not my thing. I'm an engineering nerd so I get my kicks from how it gets from one more to another.

I will however be very tempted by that ultimetal Ultra Magnus if it ever sees the light of day, at a price that won't make me destitute.

The only non-transformable figures I like are the Robot Replicas, which have good articulation and no extra vehicle parts (Weaponizer Bumblebee, I'm looking at you)

I don't really like the vehicle only ones. They don't really do anything for me.

The Robot only ones are alright though. I have some of the Revoltechs and love messing around with them.

I can kinda get past the whole 'non-transforming Transformer' thing because I just like robots.

I liked the G1 revoltech, I wish they had finer detents in their ratchets and that they had done more, largely because I really liked that visual style.

I personally don't get art vinyl.

I loved Robot Heroes, wish there were more.
I have some of the Japanese scf figures that are larger to go with the robot heroes.
I liked Titanium but not super fussed.

If I had the budget and space Id have ultimetal prime and megs, but I don't have either.

I prefer toys that transform generally, the others are more whimsical purchases.

Yep - feel the same

Yep and yep again. My wife really liked the Robot Heroes and Kreons - some of the few she would let me pop on our bookshelves. I only have one RPM and that was given to me by one of my students parents for Xmas.

This got me thinknig and I realized that out of my 1600+ TF's I've probably got over a hundred now that don't actually transform  I don't generally buy non-transforming ones but if it's G1 based I generally can't resist them!

I do like non transforming TFs but mostly g1 based.
IN my collection I do have non-transforming TFs
Actionmasters
Kreos
Robotmasters
Revoltech
MyClone
some Kabaya but generally no hehehe
Those little cute SD figures they've been selling off recently which included characters from G1 to TF prime and Bayverse.
TF Spuds - Potatohead

So yeah Im okay with them in general - prolly like the rest that I do mind if it's just stuck in vehicle mode - unless that's what the product really is - coz I do have Optimus and Bumblebee Tomicas - which unlike RPMs do not pretend to be transforming rolling gravestones - stand them up and there you have the robot mode, ugh.... theyre just vehicle modes of the 2 TFs, Op and Bee.

I guess I'm kinda impartial. If it transforms, its amazing. If its articulate or has its own unique function, that's just as cool. It's the brand itself which you should be interested in. Mind you, Hasbro can pull some really weird shit out that's kinda both transforming and nontransforming. I'm looking at you Hero Mashers.

I have a Revoltech Jetwing Optimus. Kinda really cool. Can get some super dynamic poses with him and his weapons. I'd get more if I could. A cheap DMK would be amazing.
I also have a custom Leader Class ROTF The Fallen, something I build myself. Doesn't really transform either.

As a general rule, I'm not a fan. But...

I would totally buy a Robot Replica/Revoltech Kick-Off (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Kick-Off_%28G1%29).:o

I don't go for vehicle only TF's at all. Stealth Force, etc. They strike me as kind of pointless.

Interesting question. My blanket response is 'no', because, well, the core of the franchise is toys that transform. However, I recognise there is a place for non-transforming robots, since transforming toys are 'compromised' in one way or another in order to accommodate two (or more) modes.

I currently only have one - Robot Replicas Frenzy, because I wanted a good representation of the character's robot mode.

As a Soundwave mold-completionist, I've had to learn to accept that many a TF product is non-transformable; Some can be actually quite nice and some even fun, then there's Actionmasters. :p

Actually between statuettes, Kreons and Robot Heroes I've prob got quite a few non-G1 non-transforming figures :o

Think I've got a at least a couple of non-transforming Soundwaves- a Kids Logic one and a Soundblaster Statuette off the top of my head, will have to check if I have more. One day I'll get around to buying Action Master Soundwave and Shockwave :)

Out of interest Hursty, how many Soundwaves are you up to? I know I've professed great admiration for you extensive collection in the past, and that was a while ago. I'm guessing you have a lot more now as my SW collection nears the number you used to have :):p

I'd love to pickup the Soundwave Palisades statues at some point, they're a pricey venture though and my dwindling display/storage space may help to dictate otherwise. :o

I REALLY want one of those Kids-Logic Soundwaves but as he was only ever sold in that 5-pack (Too expensive) and singularly he's near impossible to distinguish from the KO that's seen release, this one remains annoyingly at arms reach too. :o

Hehe, I continue to appreciate your admiration for my SW Collective mate, admittedly it has hit some-what of a backburner status over the past year but at last count I was sitting at 43x Individual Molds with no repaints. ;):D

43 individual molds is damn impressive mate!:D

The only Soundwave repaints I have are TF Prime & Beast Hunters Soundwave (as I wanted Ravage), FOC Soundwave & Soundblaster and Decceptihog Soundwave & Soundblaster. All the others are separate molds. Guessing altogether I have about 20 or maybe a little more if you count Soundblasters as well

Nice! - I consider TF:P & BH Soundwave to be separate figures, as there is enough retooling to be considered a new mold in my eyes (Gotta go for the TakTom colours on BH though). ;)

Can you believe that I managed to miss counting MP Soundave in that tally!? :p:D

<Tangent> Went to Big W hoping to score a "Hero Mashers" Soundwave, they were there literally on Monday... They are no longer there :(, they did have the Reissue TMNT '80s Party Van though after being decimated a year or so ago and for $30 I was happy to come away with that! :D </Tangent>

I don't think I have a problem with Transformers that don't transform as such, so long as they are decent toys. For example, I think the Hero Mashers are fine as their gimmick is almost a different kind of transforming, and they make for decent action figures with good articulation and styling. On the other hand, those Titan things are a complete waste of plastic and should be melted down; they're the cheapest, nastiest looking things that look like they escaped from the early 90s when the attitude was "f*** it, they're just toys". So yeah, decent toys with play value are fine, bad toys are unacceptable.

What I do have a problem with is things that aren't Transformers, but carry the TF branding in one way or another. I have been known to lump the Titans into this category, but what I really mean is things like Star Wars Transformers, Angry Birds, or Marvel Crossovers. They just aren't real Transformers product but still take up shelf space which ought to be used by real TF merchandise, and it makes me sad. They're kind of the inverse of third party products (which I also have a problem with) in that way.

I don't have a lot of time for super-deformed or cutesy TFs like the Q Transformers or Botshots, but at least they are actual Transformers products with Transformers characters. I'd still they rather not take up the shelf space though. I truly wish Hasbro would consolidate their resources and focus on making mainline and Generations figures the best they can be, but it seems diversification is the corporate mandate of the day, and as a fan who doesn't have a lot of insider knowledge of the toy business I can't argue with that - but I don't have to like it.

The worst type of non-transforming Transformers? The Movie Unleashed line (http://tformers.com/First-Look-at-Transformers-Optimus-Prime-Unleashed/7589/news.html). Transformers that don't transform. A figure that you can't pose. A vehicle that you can't brum-brum around. And the icing on the cake - seeing a wall full of large cool-looking transformers boxes from afar, only to find major duds.

I've always viewed the Unleashed line as being more like budget statues than action figures. From that point of view, they're perfectly acceptable - if not always good at doing what they're supposed to do. I thought the movie Optimus was kind of poor, but the first Bumblebee was awesome (and why don't I have it anymore?).
