i'm not massively into it any more, i watched the series on sbs years ago and didn't quite get it at the end but the purple would be unit 01, the main character's one. red would be unit 02 and the yellow i think is maybe a prototype unit from one of the reboot movies or series? i don't remember it being yellow in the original series.

i don't know if you would call them characters as such although they seem to have their own personalities. they are cyborgs piloted by children. someone who knows more can explain better :)

The Big Optimus looks to be based on that Gimmick Movie Optimus toy (http://www.toycollectors.com.au/transformers/2014/jp14a48.jpg) that was exclusive to Japan. The promo image in the link in the first post puts the RID Optimus as twice the size, so it isn't a remould... but since that Movie one cost a fair bit, this one is likely to be really expensive.

Also, from a wiki site, the three Evangelion Crossover toys appear to fit closest to the "Rebuild" versions of Unit 0 (http://evangelion.wikia.com/wiki/Evangelion_Unit-00_%28Rebuild%29) (yellow), Unit 1 (http://evangelion.wikia.com/wiki/Evangelion_Unit-01_%28Rebuild%29) (purple), & Unit 2 (http://evangelion.wikia.com/wiki/Evangelion_Unit-02_%28Rebuild%29) (red).
But that will just be temporary notations on the listing, as the actual versions or names will be revealed in JP Hobby magazines in around July/August. (these are due out until about September)

As some have speculated on other sites... the renaming (and likely redeco) of the Legends Groove into Override, makes it possible that the United Warriors Defensor comes with a Deluxe Groove (who may just be the Rook toy with a Groove head, as there are no motorcycle limbs at this time).

I've been wondering how Takara were going to handle Groove in the combined form.

I am looking forward to the new vehicon, perhaps a white version of the car vehicon? it seems to be named "Vehicon General" - so it might be the same grey the Jet Vehicon General was released in - be a nice addition to my Vehicon troops (PRID Vehicon/AM Vehicon/AM Jet Vehicon General, as well if I can find at a decent price the original AM Jet Vehicon and Botcon Pounce/Wingspan)

As for Groove -based on the "futuristic" design of Streetwise, I wouldn't be surprised to see a deluxe Groove made from Afterburner if Computron is released down the track - and who says Takara have to release their combiners in the same order/time frame as Hasbro?
