My Transformers Story Plan

I have been thinking of doing something like this for a while: a re-write of the original 80's movie. It's not because I don't like it, don't get me wrong it is the best movie/episode of the original series. No, I'm re-writing it in a different continuity. Now I think this has probably been done before, but I am doing Unicron Trilogy as the original TT:TM

So I am asking some character questions. Mostly the plot will be the same but I will be changing the characters and dialogue. Some important characters in the movie need big roles, so here is what I have so far.

Also Starscream has a different fate.

I think I should reverse them, Demolisher (instead of Scourge) becoming Thundercracker and Cyclonus becoming Skywarp.

For G1 Characters who had big roles in the cartoon but basically only cameos in the movie I'm just going to put in random Mini-Cons.

I will love to see what comes of this. I remember having the same grand plan while at uni, but nothing ever came of it.

My ideal cast was:
Hot Rod - Powerlinx Hot Shot or Cybertron Excillion
Rodimus Prime - Energon Rodimus
Ultra Magnus - Energon Ultra Magnus
Springer - Energon Bulkhead
Blurr - Cyberton Blurr
Kup - Cybertron Brakedown GTS (or normal if colour isn't a big deal)

Bumblebee - Armada Hot Shot
Galvatron - Energon Galvatron (of course)


My vision however was more a direct retelling, not the reinterpretation that you seem to be thinking.

You should make the mini-cons the new version of the junkions.

What I try to do with my collection, is to find a way to put them all in the same continuity.

For example, in my personal canon, Movie Jetstorm is actually the brother of G1 Jetfire. G1 Prowl gets injured badly and is taken by a group of evil undead decepticons (who are the moviebots :P) and rebuild Prowl into Barricade. The humans also try to create a clone of Optimus Prime by getting a bunch of different optimuses from different universes and create 3 evil optimus's. The first one is a failed clone, and uses AOE Galvatron. The 2nd one is more sucessful, but still doesn't look exactly like Optimus (this one is the AOE Voyager one). The 3rd and final one looks the most like Optimus, but due to a bug in the system, he turns black and gains subwoofers (I know they are shoulder cannons, but hey I thought they were speakers of something :P ). This one uses RID Scourge.

The Optimus I use is the YOTS one because he is meant to combine with Omega Supreme and Star Saber (who is used by Energon Wing Saber)

Most of the characters are using their CHUG toys, however Beachcomber uses his Energon toy, Big Daddy uses his Movie toy, and whatever homages I can think of, I use.

Oh and Megatron starts off with his Classics toy, then later appears in his CW toy. Then gets rebuilt into Galvatron, which is based off his RID toy (the original Megatron, not the Galvatron redeco)

Also for the Junkions I am going to use the Scrapmetals from Cybertron,
and one will be orange (instead of yellow, red, blue) which will be Wreck-Gar

With Devastator coming out tomorrow, I decided that if I were to get Universe Devastator (the one that was a redeco of RID Landfill), I could repurpose him into another Construction combiner, what would his name be? I don't know but I already have the names of this 2nd part of the Construction team:

Hightower - Hightower
Long Haul - Overload
Bonecrusher - Rampage
Scavenger - Demolishor
