I heard of the concept over ten years ago and was always facinated by it.
It would be like riding a two person train from your origin to destination with no other stops.
And more importantly no sharing
On demand so travel when you like
Sounds good in theory, but no one has been able to get it right yet

Like a pneumatic tube network across the city?

Or a series of catapults and nets?

They do sound fun.
It is point to point travel.
Imagine that the bus/train only had enough seats for you and one friend ( but there were many buses) and always one waiting for you at a station for when you wanted to travel.
If it was based on going fast they should be able to hit somewhere near 100km per hour.
But as I said, several have built them, and they always tend to be large cluncky cars on a rail.
I wanna ride a rollercoaster to work (smooth with no loops or similar)

Ill see if I can find a link

Are you thinking about something like the transport system in the movie Minority Report?

Only 100km an hour? Just give me Jonny cab and I'll be set.

I'm in as long as they take the Isaac Sumdac approach (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Fully_Automated_Rapid_Transit_System) to naming (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Bi-directional_Unified_Transit_Terminal).:D
