View Full Version : Unite Warriors Bruticus with Blastoff space-shuttle?

The usual Japanese Designer (Hisashi Yuki) has been tweeting something cryptic again, and this time it is of Gen1 Bruticus with Groove as the arm instead of Blast Off (http://news.tfw2005.com/2015/07/05/takara-unite-warriors-bruticus-rumor-new-blast-off-295775).

So what does it mean?

The most likely thing is that TakaraTomy are continuing with their tradition of making sure their Combiners are Gen1 accurate, and Blast Off will be a space-shuttle instead of a fighter jet.
Or, they are having Groove recoloured into Blast Off... :p

It might be some time before we find out though, as this is an early 2016 toy for Hasbro, so it isn't likely to be released in Japan until some time after that.

I'd be surprised if Takara didn't make a Blastoff space shuttle, and that tease seems pretty blatant. I have said before that I was quite happy with Hasbro going down the route of making him a fighter jet as it makes more sense with the whole military theme... I did realise however looking at recent pics that the head sculpt was still the same as Quickslinger (terrible name btw)/Slingshot mold??? Hopefully Hasbro will do a head remold... they have been pretty good about remolding thus far in CWs. Also didn't think I would be interested in CW Bruticus but the plastic crack once again takes hold and I have to have it!!!

I'm sure they could explain this away in a hilariously undecipherable pack-in manga :p

The tweet itself just says that Hisashi Yuki is just toying around with the samples and admiring how the new Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors line is a big leap from the G1 scramble city toys...bit the picture looks it wants to tease more

More evidence of a new mould for a Japanese Unite Warriors Blast Off (http://news.tfw2005.com/2015/08/13/hisashi-yuki-teases-possible-unite-warriors-blast-off-299619)... with Hisashi Yuki posting up a sketch, and some comment that appears to suggest that it is already underway.
With Bruticus being the first of the 2016 Hasbro combiners, which is likely to be out by Christmas (based on what happened last year), if they are still working on the design stage of Blast Off, the Japanese release of Bruticus won't be out for at least a year, which would be a huge wait after the Hasbro version. (unless these teases are intentionally misleading, and the toy is already nearing prototype stage, for a release soon after the Hasbro version like the other three Japanese combiners)
I guess we just wait and see... and then hope that Hasbro releases both Groove and Blast Off like they did for "Slingshot" and "Wildrider".

If Hasbro do release Groove and Blastoff, that's four "extra" limbs which along with one of the extra torsos (pick from Optimus Prime, Cyclonus, Battle Core Optimus Prime, Sky Lynx, or Scattershot) is enough to make a complete extra combiner. Pretty cool for those that want the full Geewun but have already bought the Hasbro versions with the new limbs, or for those who just want to make another new combiner with the extra releases.

Soon we will have 4 spare limbs. Soon Rejector will rise!

It's been a while since it was first teased, but now we get another teaser (http://news.tfw2005.com/2016/01/08/unite-warriors-bruticus-teaser-image-307513), which suggests that the Japanese Bruticus is still some way off.
But now we see a silhouette of Blast Off not looking to be a redeco, and Vortex with four rotors instead of two.

I'll hope that this is true as Tak/Tom are pretty good at coming up with the goods on this kind of thing, but I think the article is reading a lot into that silhouette

As Grand Galvatron is due end of April, it is probably on a June release as this one will need heaps of retoolings and some new design considerations that we only have seen since Defensor (which got delayed still btw)

Anyway im happy im going back to UW series since i skipped both Convoy and Galvatron sets :D

I know we've said this before but I do hope we get Hasbro versions of Groove & Blast Off like we did Slingshot & Wildrider. Even if this Blast Off is a minor reshell, I'll pick those up in an astro second!

i can see that it looks like more rotors on the helicopter but how can you tell all of that stuff from looking at that??

This should be really good. CW Swindle is so good but I'd have to get rid of him if I got Takara Bruticus.

You could display UW Bruticus and CW Swindle? I'm keen to grab a cheap CW First Aid if it ever pops up to display w/ combined UW Defensor.

You can see an aerialbot cockpit connector on blastoff, but this goes to a more rounded, larger front piece.

Also shots of Computron show what could be larger wings in the rear of a plane mould.... Another thing blastoff could utilise

I picked up Swindle the other day even though I'm (still) waiting for the whole wave to arrive for this very reason

In my position, my answer to that is funds... with a little one due in less than a week I've gotta cut down on my spending.

I don't think I've seen any combaticons around while I've been out so I might just wait and see how this one turns out and maybe get it instead of the hasbro version.

TFW2005 is reporting that Blast-Off will be a completely new mold AND Unite Warriors Bruticus will be a mass market release!

http://news.tfw2005.com/2016/01/20/unite-warriors-blast-off-new-information-308026

That's a double win for us collectors, can't wait to get it.

I'm also holding off on the Hasbro Computron, I reckon the Takara one will be better and also hopefully a mass release.

I'm definately looking forward to a unite warriors bruticus. This comperion box set leaves a lot left to be desired but here's hoping takara do something about the head sculpt

I'm still grabbing Hasbro Blast Off, but I'm repurposing him into a new character because I will eventually get the proper Blast Off, whether it's the Takara or Hasbro version (and if it ever arrives  )

GDI I just want to know if Hasbro are going to release special editions of Groove, Blast Off and Vortex like they did with Slingshot and Wildrider or do I have to buy the Takara version... I know what I'll end up doing but damn why can't they just let us know.

Just pre-ordered! I'm glad this will be getting a mass release, but I'm a little surprised its not a TT Mall exclusive considering what happened with Defensor. Next is to order the PE upgrade sets ;)

There goes more money!

Edit: Looking at the pic, I don't think Blastoff's shuttle nose becomes his hands (like in the early scribblings we saw from Yuki).

Not a dealbreaker, but it would've been nice...

Shame there's no squarer nose for vortex, but happy i waited. Will be getting a brawl for a custom idea but besides that UW all the way.

(Any idea yet if shockwave will be in the set? Otherwise better get a hasbro one soon, guessing not as no powerglide or blackhack in the other sets).

Great that its a mass market release. Since I don't have an Onslaught for my hasbro set, I preordered this. With this set I get Onslaught and the new Blast off as a space shuttle, sounds good to me.
