With all the writers and actor strike issues this year, plus a script that appeared to still be written right up to when filming started (and then editted during filming to accomodate Shia's hand injury), the sequel is scheduled to finish filming within 5 weeks.
Compared to the first movie, that seems to be a rather late finish, when you consider how long it took for post production animation and editting for the first one. Sure, the resources and budget are probably much bigger this time, but will eight months be enough to effectively computer-generate half of the movie, (music) score it, edit/cut it, and record the voices (should be a bigger cast of robots this time)? Sounds like a long time, but I think the first one had over a year after filming ended, with a full trailer out with 8 months to go. This time around, they only expect to have the teaser trailer out by the end of the year, with a full trailer ready by next May (only 7 weeks before the movie is released - but someone mentioned it could actually be the 2nd full trailer).

I personally feel that the plot flow of the sequel letting down the movie, with rushed post-production, and a script that was rushed to begin with.
Then again, Pirates 2 and 3 had the same problems (according to their DVD extras), and they still did well at the box office.
At least TF2 isn't aiming for a significant release date this time, so its release can be moved back as a last resort (Paramount's other big Movie soon 'Star Trek' has already been pushed back 6 months). If TF2 is pushed back, that'd spoil any BotCon plans related to the Movie (like an advance screening).
