Yep I can see from yours and Griffins point of view there seems no point in double dipping. I don't have the earlier Hasbro version nor the original Masterpiece Takara Thundercracker. This will probably be no more expensive than what the Hasbro one goes for on ebay and looks better to me so I'm a definite pre order.

I have the Starscream but have been holding off on the other two. I have MP-03, 6 and 7. and the US recolour of starscream. I was going to keep the original 3 as the original seeker trio in the original design but now I'm starting to lean the other way.

I really like the old vehicle mode, it's so clean.

$185 AU, a lot more than I paid for my HA MP11 Starscream but very tempting... Much cheaper than MP11 Skywarp.

Would be ironic that I have MP11 Starscream and Thundercracker but wont ever get MP11 Skywarp as he is one of my favorite Transformers.

As for hasbro it may come after they release skywarp next year.
Pretty sure hasbro has lined up Optimus for tru to release soon.

As posted in the previous posts Takara Tomy Mall price is approx. 165aud and indicated this will be released by Hasbro Asia as well.

I think the Takara Skywarp was more expensive ranging from 200aud to 300aud and seems more limited since it was only released in Asia.

Yeah but this is the current (RRP) price for that toy, not the aftermarket price! :eek: MP Starscream's RRPs were:
* MP3 = 10290JPY ($115)
* Hasbro's MP3 = $100
* MP11 = 13000JPY ($145) <---and that's w/ the extra bling (although no display stand? <--unsure :confused:)
I personally think that 14904JPY/$165 is rather expensive for an MP Seeker as a current retail price.

Although this wouldn't be the first time that TakaraTOMY's jacked up the price for a limited repaint; Gentei Skywarp and Thundercracker were freakin' $50 each. :(

You can't seriously expect Hasbro or TakaraTOMY to just keep reissuing these toys year after year just to cater for the section of fans who missed out on the previous release. MP Thundercracker's been done twice already -- this one represents the third version of MP Thundercracker. There's been ample opportunity for people to get one if they really wanted one.

I have no interest in any more redecos of existing MPs, I want new characters. As far as the Seekers are concerned, I want Coneheads. I wouldn't mind an MP Ion Storm (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Ion_Storm) either. Can't say I'd be massively interested in an MP Nova Storm (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Nova_Storm), as I'm happy enough to repurpose my MP Sunstorm as that character as well. :p

^Best. :cool: :D I honestly hadn't even noticed, as with the sole exception of Acid Storm, I haven't collected any Hasbro-boxed MPs after Acid Storm. And even if I did, what Trent said. :)

So, do you honestly want HasTak to reissue almost every MP in the new Generations style box and MP numbering, just so that collectors can purchase them all over again with a more consistent Hasbro box style? :eek: IMO, if having consistent looking boxes is your thing, just pre-order all the Takara(TOMY) versions. Advantages include:
* Absolutely more consistent box style. They haven't changed it since they released MP-1 in 2004 (well, Xmas of 2003, but it's effectively an '04 release; most people didn't receive theirs until Jan/Feb of '04 anyway :p) and are unlikely to change it in future.
* Smaller boxes. If you're going to be collecting boxes, then space is an issue (even if you flatten them!), and it's no secret that Hasbro's boxes are big space-wasters. Their MP Prowl & Bluestreak boxes are ridiculously huge, nearly double the volume of TakTOM's.
* No great loss if you can't read Japanese. TakTOM's boxes have all logos and names printed in English as well (unless you're a stickler for the Anglophone names, e.g. "Bluestreak" instead of "Streak"). Yes, the various blurbs on the back are in Japanese, but Hasbro's boxes don't really have much in the way of blurbs anyway, there's just a lot of blanks spaces. The Hasbro boxes won't translate any of that stuff anyway.
* You'll get the toys sooner. Hasbro's versions come out years (months at best) after TakaraTOMY's. At times not at all (e.g. Sideswipe, Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee, Wheeljack etc.); this is why Hasbro AU have resorted to directly importing Japanese MPs for our market, because they cbb to wait and see if Hasbro USA are going to do it. The sole exception to this is Acid Storm (who is the only Generations style boxed MP that I own).
* You'll probably get the toy cheaper. Especially if you pre-order and get an earlybird discount. The only exception has been Soundwave, whose AU RRP worked out even cheaper than discounted Japanese RRPs! And maybe Sunstorm too -- the TakTOM version was initially sold without any preorder discount (13650JPY/$151); how much is our local one again? :confused:

I suspect that only a small minority of collectors would honestly be willing to re-collect every MP re-issued with a new box. I don't think that the numbers would make it feasible for Hasbro to do it all again.

Up to you, man. If you want to sit around and wait and see if Hasbro releases all the MPs you want in that new Generations TRU style box, then go nuts. I'll stick with TakTOM. :)

Beats me, it felt overly predictable and came to me as a no surprise when starscream mp was released this year.
Those here who are just thinking in terms of hasbro has done it before and won't be reissue the MPs again really need to look at the bigger picture.
I can guarantee an Optimus is bound to show up in hasbro new box line up and is no surprises there either. The so called Asia exclusive means exactly nothing in the transformers mp context as grimlock was a good example it reissued regardless. And yes wait for it, hasbro may decide to do a rodimus instead of hot rod. With a reboot of numbering people do care and do buy despite I wouldn't care about it.

I guess next year will be interesting as if my prediction is wrong I be most happy that hasbro had finally had enough of releasing a seeker each year since acid storm.

That rumour turned out to be false as the given dates for all of them has been and gone. But I wouldn't give up hope of a reissue since MP-10 and MP-12 are both seeing reissues.

But more recently released MP Seekers, like Acid Storm and Thundercracker, sold here at about the same price as MP3. It seems like a significant leap in such short a time frame. It feels the same as the price hike w/ Hasbro's TRU exclusive MP Bluestreak, having jumped to $130 compared to the $100 price tag on their MP Prowl just last year.

This reminds me of TakaraTOMY's pricing w/ Gentei Thundercracker and Skywarp; both sold at premium prices for no apparent reason other than because they could. Of course, the difference was that there was - at the time - little other choice for collectors. I paid freakin' $50 each for my Gentei Thundercracker & Thrust because at the time a regular retail version of a Classicsverse Thundercracker & Thrust didn't exist. My only other option was to hunt down a BotCon Thundercracker & Thrust, which would've been even dearer. Then Hasbro released Generations Thundercracker & Thrust few years later; I bought them both to support Hasbro's decision to release these characters in regular retail. MP11T's a bit of a different story because this is the third release of this character in the MP line.

Thoses who have bought for the box purposes have no choice but to buy this as you may not get a takara version in the end. I think it would be release at later stages.

Would I have liked to get some other accessories? Yes. Is it a deal breaker? No. I don't even mind that TT isn't including stands with their MP-11 Seekers because I feel like that's a MP-3 feature because they can't stand well without them.

I like the stands, I don't know what it is but I much prefer to put the vehicle mode on the stand 'in flight' rather than on the ground with wheels down.

All hasbro versions have stands including this coming mp11 starscream unless I am wrong please do feel free to correct me.

What can be a deal breaker for some is the decepticon logo is actually facing top when robot mode while some will hate it as it is not being consistent to mp11 and mp11s

HK releases are done at the same time as the Japanese release, so if one is November, the other will be as well.
Limits are possible for either version as the HK version is likely to be limited as well, but just not exclusive to one source like the JP version, and we don't get to know how limited either.

This and other recent photos suggest the colour is somewhat darker than the initial pics. I kind of preferred the light colouring of the initial shots. Still super pumped for this one, and a very nice box as usual.

it was well packed by PC yet im worried there could be mishandling in their warehouse as heaps of people are now ordering from them...or maybe this is how they got it from Hasbro asia (those from TT are lucky since I saw they are all bubble wrapped)

Too much hassle. It will be as good as repair this myself only I don't have the time lately.

Also this isn't a part, is basically the main body so is not very good chance Takara may give spare especially when their 2k units were all sold.

Finally the Thundercracker I've been looking for. I've had TT MP07 and the TRU TT, this is the cartoon accurate mold/colour I want. I'll admit I only nabbed it because Drifand was selling it at a bargain, the break wasn't a huge issue for me. Certainly found it difficult paying $300+ for something I've already bought twice.

Now for a MP-11 Skywarp to be released at a reasonable price...

Actually aside from my machine gunned box (heaps of small dents on corner of the front of the box) I just noticed a long scratch on the right leg. I cant complain on that after i saw drifand's broken rear wing, which i also rechecked mine again.

I actually found someone selling theirs with the exact same defect.
Is a shame that TT don't even check on 2000 pieces.

If my next thundercracker is still a flop, I very much may quit collecting MPs altogether, I definitely not buy anymore apart from hound, jazz mirage and that will be it.

If these toys were $120 a pop, I would just close an eye. They are not, and being they skip on stand and rockets, how hard is it to get QC right?

I like to transform them once then put them in bot mode for display. If you have any other mp-11 moulds pop there heads of the ball joint and you will see if it's longer or not.

I am normally like you, will transform once. I think due to constraints in my time available I was just "happy" to ignore everything else. I have three other mp-11 moulds and shockingly I have not attempted much in transforming them either other than Hasbro Acid Storm, rest were Takaras Sunstorm, Starscream, and this guy.

It might be worth taking some pics and post at the defects page like I did. Such a defect is actually major and I need to see it for myself once I get around to play with it again.

the ears (if you can call it like that) may be sometimes stiff with these new seekers mold coz i had the same issue with Hasbro Sunstorm, normally it should push itself inside when transforming to jet mode

Haha I was waiting for someone to mention this. It's actually the top of the head that gets jammed not the sides you can't tilt the head back far enough for it to slip through.

I'll try and get some photos up today to show what I'm talking about.

I probably mention more that this piece at least the rockets are painted and was told skywarp didn't? No idea why TT was lazy with that.

Overall the toy is great if you got it under $200 mark, but face it, is a rip off.

I would wait to see if Hasbro release a skywarp mp this year.

Update: so I was in the process of taking a few pics of the 4 mp-11 moulds for comparison when I noticed that Tc's ball joint for his head isn't actually longer it's back to front. Sorry about the photos this is the limit of my photography skills.

If you look under the head of starscream you will see a groove on the piece connected to the head. Which is on all the others

So you cant push his head through the groove? I need to go back and check again as I didn't need to remove his head to transform him.

From the pics, it looks like they got it backwards or something< sorry that is what you did say.

I am not sure yours is the only one like that as I have not check mine closed up. Anyone care to check?

Well you can see the difference in head height between Tc and starscream which makes it impossible to get through that arch. I even swapped the heads over just to be sure. Id fix it if I could but it's not something I'd feel comfortable with

Which was my first assumption but I have 4 of these moulds with no issues of getting the head through with them. I can push Tc's head so he's looking straight up at the ceiling, can't do that with others which proves it is on back to front
