Reprints Marvel comics #1 to #8.

It's a packaging of the same content (sourced from IDW classic reprints) as the pack of 8 comics released last year (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=19126) - though the paper is a lighter stock, the binding isn't as tight, and it's all in one hardcover volume.

As it's the same source is has the same pros/cons of the original (some line work lost, some recolouring) discussed in the previous thread.

It's labelled volume 1 but I wouldn't hold my breath for volume 2. Although of it did continue with eight issues per book, volume 3 would be a good Combiner Wars tie in with the introduction of all four original Scramble City teams.

You've probably given this 200 times more thought than anyone at Hasbro Australia has.

They also have this unusual book (http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/hardie-grant-egmont-290792440-290791360--1) - TFPrime papercraft (build ten robots) currently discounted to $15 (down from $25).

Got this for Fathers Day. I'll read this while I keep my NM first edition copies in storage ;) Funny thing, my son had his 5th b'day last weekend and received this as a gift from another parent. I'll read his copy instead :p

Saw vol 2 which also comes with the 2 small Goldie figs (bumblebee and Soundwave) at big W on the weekend. Think it was $24.

Volume 2 is still a box of separate comic books (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=22113).

Vol 1 was originally released the same way (also with minifigs) a year before we saw a single hardcover book release. Hoping they'll do the same with these next eight issues but would expect it to be some time away.

I was right, a second hardcover collection is coming (http://www.angusrobertson.com.au/books/transformers-classic-comic-collection-transformers/p/9781760127312) with a release date of tomorrow, reprinting #9 to #16.

I'll be checking Big W to see if they stock it (since they've stocked both comic sets and the first hardcover).

Also on Booktopia (http://www.booktopia.com.au/transformers-classic-comic-collection/prod9781760127312.html).

So is that the only difference.... hardcover rather than single issues? Kinda hoping they do the rest

That was the only difference between the first set and first book.

Still think a third set would have been a good Combiner Wars tie-in.
