Just a question for those of you who get items from North America (and in particular ebay).

How much does shipping cost you for single mid sized G1 figures? I'm looking at the shipping charges for various loose Headmaster figures, and the US$30-US$50 prices I am being quoted by the sellers seems far too high considering I have had larger items sent from the USA (TRU Re-issues and DBZ figures, etc) for much much less (about US$15-US$22).
However that was back in 2005 and 2006.

Just want to know if these sellers are purposely overcharging on shipping, and if so by how much. I'm on a much stricter budget than I have been and don't want to waste money I could spend on figures on shipping.

Thanks

I can give you recent examples of my postage cost via Global Priority International as quoted by my sellers:
- 3 Rocklords, 3 complete Terrorcons US$27

Upcoming acquisition:
- 1 Energon Beachcomber (no box) plus 3 Micromaster Teams (12 figures) and 1 Erector US$30

If you have several loose headmasters (not just the heads), it could cost more than US$30 i think, so the seller could be right.

I'm getting quoted about US$27-$33 for single headmasters, but I'm looking at various single Headmasters from individual sellers, not many sellers out there with multiple Headmasters.

Had one seller quote me US$48 shipping for an incomplete Hosehead. Knew that was a ripoff.

Go to the USPS website:

http://ircalc.usps.gov/default.aspx?Mode=Intl_Single&CID=10013

I usually do that myself to see if seller is "cheating" on postage rates. It gives you all the options available. Shipping from North America is pretty standadize just like how we can get a quote from the Australia post website to post overseas.

I usually ask the weight of the item from the seller (if not listed) then I ask for a quote from seller and then go to the USPS site to check myself. I usually get them to quote me:

1) Priority Mail International - Guaranteed 6-10 business days (Incl. tracking)
2) First Class Mail International - Delivery varies (but can add extra insurance of US$2.75 if you're not fussed about getting item asap but worried it gets lost)

or you can go with Express Mail International which is usually the most expensive about $10-$20 bucks more than Priority Mail. (Incl. tracking definitely)

trunks, a single headmaster's quote is pretty correct at US$27 as no matter the weight...the post office still charges the minimum rate of 1 pound. so that's very basic

Or you can be like me & allow yourself to be tempted to purchase a 2nd & a 3rd figure off the same seller to save a few bucks on shipping... :o

just remember that usps recently changed their shipping, with priority mail essentially becoming the base shipping rate (there is first class mail but its not used much)

i had been quoted $27 for one MOSC spychanger 2-pack, but i got 8 mosc packs and classics ramjet combined and he charged me $31....

so the moral of the story is, as daniel said, the postage for the first pound or so will be similar for an average sized box (unless you were buying micromasters or something)

well..sometimes it can save cost, sometimes it won't.
some sellers still will charge your more than the shipping cost so just be aware.
