T_T emotion, tears of pain, anguish, truimph or happiness
I think you mean emoticon.

Firstly, that emoticon should be written as (T_T) and secondly it's a Japanese emoticon not widely used on non-Japanese language forums. I use them, but I don't expect there to be an image conversion for it. The entire "art" of Japanese emoticons (and arguably emoticons in general) is creating images using keyboard characters anyway. If you go on Japanese forums you don't see emoticons being converted into images like you do here.

Sounds like a sub-group of depressed Decepticons. :p

#1 is a good idea if you are using a public computer, or one that is not your own (so bookmarking doesn't count).
#2 is probably like Goktimus said - it's not common enough, and this board has the most common already (how many emoticons do you need in a post?). However, there are custom emoticons out there, like TFs themed ones, that can be uploaded, so I'll keep it in mind.

If we are thinking of adding an emoticon, I'd like to suggest a drooling icon of some kind for us to use in custom and acquisition threads! :D

Personally, I think many of us manage to do that every time a female member shows up anyway. I am consistently appalled at some of the responses in virtually every female introductory thread.

When searching on the board, vBulletin by default will not allow you to search for words of 3 or less characters. Can that be changed? Even if only to include 3-letter words?

Jaydisc, I'm going to move your new post to this thread as it's another "board request"

jaydisc
17th September 2008, 12:21 PM
Sure, but I think each request gets diluted if all in one thread thead.

Just go google (http://www.google.com.au/), on the search field, type in:

AUD and it will simply give you the rate for the day. :p

P.S If you can get your arse on the computer to come here, you can simply go google and do that. Try it. It's google's special currency conversion

If you want, you can also try GBP, MYR, japanese yen etc

I've changed it from 4 to 3, but that's as small as I want to go, as it affects the size of the database with more words being included.

No worries. Actually, Mel's unrelated tip gave me everything I need

Just go google (http://www.google.com.au/), on the search field, type in...

I can just go to Google, type in my three letter word and restrict it to our site, e.g. searching: "afa site:otca.com.au" works perfectly as you can see here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&rls=en-us&q=afa+site%3Aotca.com.au&btnG=Search).

a-ha when my pinoy friend komikskolektor was introduced he got less helloes than the barrage when someone mentions they are female.

I hope Griffin you can use this thead to open discussion for members ideas for the boards

Arggghh.. How is my tip un-related when the first post on this thread was bread talking about adding an exchange rate function?

I only read the first post and didn't go on further, that's why I didn't realise how a currency exchange tool question can lead on to female members getting more welcomes than male ones... Men will be men... :D

Actually I've been on the board so long that I can't remember how my "welcome" phase was already... heehee :D Although I do get the occasional PMs "Wow, you are a female fan?!"

Back on topic - something I'd like to see is HTML code embedding so that we can do things like directly embed videos into posts (instead of just links).

Here's an example - this is YouTube video's HTML embedding code.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w7Wc5fetLjo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w7Wc5fetLjo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

If there were an option to allow for embedding then this code would appear as the actual video on the post/thread and users could simply click on play and watch it in the thread instead of opening a new window.

No no. All good. There was just some cross talk. Your advice was unrelated to my question. (see Paulbot, I told ya ya shouldn't merge the topics ;)). But yet, your answer to that other question gave me what I needed. Thanks!

Back on topic - something I'd like to see is HTML code embedding so that we can do things like directly embed videos into posts (instead of just links).

Raw HTML is very dangerous. An alternative would be to have a YouTube tag per se, like [YOUTUBE=yR02NDdsCCA]. Then the board can dynamically make the HTML required to embed the other tags. I know if I had raw HTML capabilities, I could do some serious damage.

They ain't showin' up for me Tober. Maybe they're blocking external embedding and you just see them because they're in your cache.

To make this work http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn204/Pulse_Warrior/Random/lolol.gif I had to save it as a pic, upload it to my Photobucket account & then paste it in - IMO too much work for one emoticon...

This has already been discussed, and as Jaydisc mentioned above, html coding in posts was deemed too unsafe for it to be a general posting option. Doesn't mean it can't be allowed with maybe the VM usergroup, who *should* be reliable enough to not misuse it and bug the board and its members. It'd be something I'd be willing to allow the board staff to do, but I'd have to think about it before modifying the VM group to be able to do it.
The youtube tag idea is interesting too. I'll have to look into it.
