An announcement has been made (http://news.tfw2005.com/2015/09/17/transformers-writers-room-wraps-akiva-goldsman-scripting-transformers-5-301460) as to the writer of the Transformers 5 movie (Akiva Goldsman), plus a claim that Michael Bay is going to be directing it.
(soon after that announcement was made Bay has said that he hasn't committed to it yet.... but didn't say that he definitely wasn't doing it either.)

Yes... three times now Michael bay has claimed to not be coming back, and it seems that he just can't cut the cord and walk away from his baby.

Also announced was an animated movie that looks like it could be an origin story based on Cybertron.

I had to look the bloke up cause I have never heard of him...

But yeah, "From the writer of Batman & Robin" bit has me worried

to his credit though, the producers of the Batman and robin movie were going for Camp and oddball, like the batman comics from the 60's so he did hit the mark.

he also worked as a writer on
I Am Legend (screenplay)
The Da Vinci Code (screenplay)
I, Robot (screenplay)
A Beautiful Mind (written by)

all pretty good films in one way or another.

the rumour and reaction of Michael Bay is almost a bad joke.

We'll agree to disagree on that one (especially ABM).

I did make the initial comment in jest though. :P There's only so much control an early-career writer would have had with B&R and I certainly don't think he's to blame (for too much of it, anyway!).

Probably does not matter who writes or directs it at this stage. Make up a reason for them to fight, add some explosions and it's guaranteed to make a billion. Franchise gold.

Davinci code and A beautiful mind I haven't seen but I recall them both seeming wildly popular at the time of their release.
I have seen and enjoyed I robot and I am Legend, both have their flaws but make enjoyable viewing.

I never really thought about it but it makes sense that an early career writer would have less control over the script. kind of ironic, when they're most likely to have fresh ideas and be less likely to be influenced by the 'norm'

you make a good point but that has to wear thin with the general movie going public at some point.

And the previous 3 movies didn't have you worried?

Everybody by know should know exactly what to expect from the next movie.

Don't forget you need some token reference to China/Asia to pander to your larger Asian market... and if Bay is directing expect him to try and outdo his number of product placements from the last movie. ;)

I figure nothing can be as bad in terms of story as the last movie so there is room to improve whoever writes and directs...

That's what people thought after the second movie - Bay will always find a way to make it worse yet keep the box office high.

well I watch it on netflix when it arrives, not going to support this news especially if Bay is directing, as the concept will be the same regardless who tells the story. More human jokes and hardly any character development with any of the robots.

& all of the Baybusters throwing their 2c in.
Oh, I simply cannot wait for 2017 now.
