View Full Version : Transformers Devastation Australian release date - OCT 8th

Activision have FINALLY revealed their Australian release date for the Transformers Devastation game, and it is October 8th... just two weeks away.
Many people have already pre-ordered it, but the release date was never announced until now.
The US release date is October 6th, so they get it for a day and a half before us this time (when it was released at the same time, we got a half day headstart).
Most retailers in Australia have it listed for around the AU$50 mark.

Oh, another case of I didn't realise it was news worthy. The dates been on the Xbox Store for a while now. Sorry for not getting the word out sooner.

I've been checking every week or two, and one of the EBgames stores was quite excited that they could finally tell me the date today.

Don't rely on EB Games to update dates quickly. They were telling me for months "Rock Band 4 is not coming to Australia". What did they eventually start taking preorders for??? Rock Band 4, and we get it the same day as the rest of the world just like the developer Harmonix promised, not delayed like EB said. Also most EB employees are not hardcore gamers, it's just a job and they don't keep track of everything like a hardcore gamer does.
Anyway, if you look at any game on the Xbox One's store at store.xbox.com that is available to preorder it list the release date and what time it unlocks to play. Here's what's been on Transformers Devastations page since preorders started.
XBOX ONE GAME EXPECTED TO RELEASE ON 08/10/2015. YOU MAY DOWNLOAD THE GAME FROM XBOX LIVE BEFORE THEN, BUT IT WILL NOT BE PLAYABLE UNTIL 00:01 AEST ON THE RELEASE DATE.
So if you want to the release date for any game look there first.
Also note that store.playstation.com normally list the UK's release dates because Sony runs their online store out of Europe and does everything by European dates and times. Boo-urns!

So, a physical disc release is AU$50.
But a data only copy somehow becomes ~AU$70? Plus the cost of my bandwidth to download it.
What a joke. It can sit in my Steam wishlist until it's on a 75% off sale.

Transformers Devastation will be available for PC via Steam.
no local retailers seem to be stocking the PC version.
Also the pre order bonus will be available when pre-ordering via Steam

It doesn't look like the pre-order bonus pack comes with the EBgames' console versions this time.
It would be a bit late to be using it to push sales if they do end up having it.

Yeah I've noticed EB is not getting preorder bonuses for every single game that has bonuses at bigger retailers anymore. They probably think it's not worth doing the deals with the publishers unless it's a AAA game.
The game is surprisingly big at 11gb so those of you that want the preorder bonus will have to decide if you are willing download 11gb to get the preorder bonus.
Pro tip: If you are an iiNet or Internode customer you can download the Xbox One version and it won't count towards your quota because Xbox 360 and Xbox One game downloads are unmetered on iiNet and it's subsidiary Internode.

How are they providing a PC copy for that price when most places aren't even listing a PC copy?!?
I will probably order through them, I like to have a hard copy in the pocket.

Isn't that the company that is based in the UK, and that would be the UK hard-copy release (which I guess could play anywhere in the world)?

They are UK based, but as far as I know, all the products they sell are Australian compatible. I have never heard of any of the Nintendo products (as the best example) being unplayable to their Australian customers.
griffin

Yes they'd be compatible, but I think the UK was the only source of a physical copy of the PC game.... so I think people buying these might receive something posted from the UK and not from Australia. (I could be wrong though)

I think they can sometimes get cheaper imports from other regions, so you need to check the fine print first. eg i bought one of the madden nfl games for ps3 from them without realising it was from hong kong and so had to make a new playstation online account based in hong kong before i could update and play online etc.

I got notification that the game is ready for pickup tomorrow at EB games.
If they don't end up with the bonus extras, I'll see if they do price-matching to the BigW price of $44.

if you pre order generally you can still get the pre order bonus even if you price match, saved me alot of money :D
Edit: I haven't seen any indication that EB has the pre order DLC though :/ usually they have a spot saying so. I hope they do have it as ive only seen the Xbox store have it available

Yeah I got the same notification - Yay!!! :D
Considering the nearest Big W is 200km away I don't think I'll be able to pull the price-match trick though

The Big W $44 price is pretty nice, and there's a bonus on it for PS3/PS4 buyers according to the Big W website:
Limited time promotional offer. Bonus 3 months of Stan for your PS3™ or PS4™ when you spend $30 or more on any Playstation game, accessory or console.
Offer ends 31 Dec 2015. For all new STAN customers only. Valid in one transaction
Not that I have time to watch 3 months of TV via Stan at the moment but it's a nice extra.

Stan is one of the Aussie streaming TV providers, the off-brand Netflix - but they have a few good shows and movies in their mix.

Just checked this, you cannot buy it on the Xbox store. Saying that the preorder stuff will probably be exclusive for a while then become a paid add on at some point

Unless otherwise stated, preorder content almost always is made available. Give it time and they will make the preorder bonus available as paid DLC.

I picked it up today and as someone else noted, EB games were willing to price match. They didn't even need to verify the price, unless they already had it in the system.
Still no signage or listings for the game in the store... and as noted by others, no bonus content like previous TFs games.
It's just amazing (and disappointing) that pretty much nothing was spent on marketing this game to the public. I think most people will only know of it when they go to buy a game and see it there on the shelf.

It's also gotten better reviews than Rise of the Dark Spark averaging 7/10 on gamefaqs.

I wonder if that's for Australia only, or worldwide, as it would annoy those in American who pre-ordered at whatever location was offering it as an incentive, just to find out that it was being released for free.

Xbox store still has it listed as 'bundle only' for those who got the pre-order bundle. it still could be coming out later but i saw somewhere that someone had received the dark star sabre in a random unlock in the game so i don't know if some of the items are just unlockable through random methods or not

Just picked it up on PS4 from JB's today. But it was a pain. Had a JB gift card to use but noticed when I went into EB they had it on the shelf for $49.95 so asked JB to price match (it was $59 at JB).
So JB calls the EB store and is told they have it for 69.95! I couldn't believe it so I said I would call EB myself. Spoke to the same lady and told her I saw it on the shelf for $49.95. She checks it out and accepts I was right, so I put her straight onto the JB guy. Only she tells him it's a mistake and will take them off the shelf to fix the price. I was livid because I know they've been that price on the same shelf since it was released.
Amyway the JB guy ending up giving in and doing it for $50. The icing on the cake was when I came home I checked the EB price on their website and sure enough it is $49.95!!!!
Anyway I've just started the game and loving it so far.
