The awesome thing about Pixar is that they put something in thier films for all ages, and there aweomse storytellers. Damn!

The two most awesome things about Pixar are that they put something in thier films for all ages and areaweomse storytellers and they have amazing animation.

The three most awesom things about Pixar are they put something in thier films for all ages, aweomse storytelling..... etc etc you know the drill.

And yes I saw Wall-E and it was excellant, Once again Pixar hit new heights.

Personally it was my favourite Pixar film to date, edging out Monsters Inc and the Incredibles.
The visuals are fantastic, I'll need another half a dozen viewings to catch them all. While Ratatouille seemed to rest on it's laurels visually wise, Wall-E works wonders with new Particle generators, heat effects/ haze effects and a very pretty and (very obviously used to show off) flame effect. I believe Pixar also had to create all new rigging systems too.

Characters are charismatic, I doubt anyone will be forgetting Wall-E, Eve or Mo any time soon, the Va work was top notch, even the bleeps and bloops of the automatons is expressive and easily understandable. The lack of dialogue does not hurt the film at all, and while it may not sit well with some younger viewers, the comedy in the first half will keep them very entertained.

Loved the references to other very well known Sci Fi movies, although I was the only one in the group I saw it with who got them, as they had not seen the Sci Fi movie. Again, like all Pixar films, there are plenty of jokes for the young, for the old, and for everyone.

The animated short beforehand was very entertaining, and again visually very solid.

Only regret is that the film feels short, it runs for about 90 minutes but the film just zips along, it's just that good and engrossing.

Just saw the movie. It's great.

I only go to the cinema on average once a year, this movie was totally worth it.

Also unlike most movies that I see, I go "it's good, I liked it", but I never have the compulson to watch them again. This movie I would like to see again. :)

This is also a movie that sort of just came out of nowhere to me. I remember seeing some shorts of it earlier this year, then nothing. I thought it had its run and was done, but no, they then announced it coming to cinemas not too long ago, and last week, we decided to go see it today. So glad I did.

I've seen it at the cinema with my boys... so i'm trying to hunt down a good torrent version. Anyone? PM me

it's not feasible to watch it again with the upcoming school holidays, it would be crazy!

I find the 6-9pm sessions on a Sunday evening to be the best time to watch movies almost any time of the year, especially in school holidays... even Batman 4 days after it's release was 1/2 empty on the Sunday 7.30pm session...

Awesome! Saw this today. So much tributes to so much sci-fi stuff.

I was worried the story will degenrate into some good and evil fare but they handled it extremely well. The focus is still with Wall-E and Eve. A truly superb narrative with an excellent sci-fi plot. Perhpas the best sci-fi plot I have watched in a movie the past decade. Also, Sigourney Weaver as the Axiom voice. That was a neat tribute.

Sci-Fi buffs should definately check it out. The short film at the start was brilliant fun!

Yea, I thought it might have too, as in they went to some evil robot world or something, but it didn't. :)

I liked when Eve was in the garbage on the ship; the mice. :)

Also apparently there was a easter egg there too in the garbage, but I missed it. Apparently another robot that looked like a certain other scifi robot.

Sigorney was the Ships voice? I missed that one.

And the cartoon at the start Pixar:Portals. ;) It was very funny.

Did anyone else watch the whole credits? I watched the little animations, which was very cute right at the end of them, then the pixar animation came up again, then the ... .... :)

I only got the B'n' L logo at the very end, then we heard the projector being turned off. (Saw it at Gold Class, and won't be going back).

Did I miss something?

I was amazed at all the production babies (babies that were born during the films production).

i'd say!

Parramatta Gold Class? suxs! everything cost near double! they even tried to refuse entry and said that I must have got it mixed up with another cinema (when someone with the same set of first & last 4 digits on the credit card) swipe through before me

Probably just not worth it?

They were gift cards for Gold Class from Christmas, so I'm not too peeved.

Went to Gold Class Parra, Staff were extremely rude (to everyone), cinema was messy and small, (I think the screens at the old Blacktown cinema were bigger), really annoyed me having the staff walking infront of the screen all the time to bring people expensive food that smelt fairly ordinary. People needed to talk fairly loudly to one another due to the gap between seats, but thats just people being rude.

I also couldn't find a good position to have the chair, but I think that was more because I was sore from spending the entire weekend working on and under a car.:D

Just not worth the cost really.

I thought this movie was magical!

And also very topical!! Strong references to consumerism, obesity, being too "plugged in" and the environment.

being too "plugged in" and the environment.

What I want to know is:
If the only two people who actually physically interacted with one another (and realised there was a pool) because they were unplugged and returned to the real world (hello Matrix!), how the hell were there so many babies?

It's a Pixar film, there are joke and references on 3 levels:
-Kids
-Adults
-All of the above.

Nah that was it. :) I thought that was something cool. :)

And yea, I'd always wondered that about gold class too, like, how watchable is a movie with a bar behind you and people walking around all the time? Not very I imagine, so I've never bothered.

I chose to ignore all of that stuff and just enjoyed the movie. But I'd replace that obesity thing with "too heavy a reliance on robots". It was those damn chairs. :D

I'm going back to watch it again in two weeks. I've never ever paid to go and watch a movie more than once, that's how much I liked this one. :)

I think that Wall-E might be one of those films that is fun to go watch with a cinema full of kiddies. I think I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda more because the kids in the cinema were laughing at heaps more stuff than any session of teens/adults would.

I have a feeling that I missed heaps on in jokes and references inserted just for the kiddies.

Gotta be honest, if there was any one thing from Wall-E that we could have right now, it would be those automated "lines" for travel... would be great in the city and in shopping centres! :D

ok i saw this last night

This pain inducing experience began when the missus and i decided that we wanted to have the experience of going to an outdoor cinema, i foolishly said that i was up for any filum.

So when she told me we were seeing Wall e my tummy fell down a bit, but i thought, its a pixar film it can't be that bad!

I lost interest pretty much as soon as the film started, i think i watched for about an hour and then she lost interest so we started ripping the film and laughing loudly and making up our own story.

When the Fembot got the plant we said she was up the duff etc

Unlike previous films from Pixar, this one i found had the least amount of balance between adult and kid humour, even 'the Incredibles' was more appealing then this.

I found the whole environmental message praisworthy, as well as the whole consumerism throw away society theme quiet good.

but im looking at it from a cynical adult perspective, but im sure as a kid-myself, at that age, i wouldn't have liked it.

At the end of the film i proclaimed loudly "Toy story was 10 times better" im sure some of the parents there agreed with me:D

After the film i got a card telling us what films were on for the rest of the season, turns out every other night has films that are a million times better, i want to see Breakfast at Tiffanys

I thoroughly enjoyed it as an adult. It does have a very strong environment and consumerism theme that we see in other animations like Miyazaki Hayao's Spirited Away.

There was also the personal journey of Wall-E as this desperately lonely yet selfless character. His interaction with Eve helps her to evolve from being a mere automaton - seemingly uncaring and at times down-right brutal and merciless, obsessed only with her mission and obeying orders like a good robot, to developing a moral conscience and learning to care for others. This in turn manifests into a romantic bond with Wall-E.

And we see Wall-E have this effect on virtually everyone he touches. All the characters from the Axiom Prime are self-indulgent and incredibly inward looking... which is typically American. When I was at uni an American international student once published an article (in a student magazine called Tharunka) about American ex-pats in Sydney and described the United States as "the land that looks inward" - which is where America gets it perceived arrogance from as seen by many people around the world (parodied in movies like Team America: World Police). It isn't solely aimed at Americans, but at anyone who is inward-looking and basically self-centred, which can be applied to people in any society (e.g.: Bogans). Inward-looking and selfish attitudes are at the core of modern consumerism.

We see all the robots (except for those in quarantine) who are only concerned about their primary function, such as Eve and Mol. The humans are all completely self-absorbed, literally encapsulated by their own world and entirely oblivious to anything outside of their little box as defined by their hover-chairs. When Wall-E comes in contact with certain people, he makes them look outside their box and realise that there is a whole world outside and that they are part of that world and interacting with it. The same thing applies with some of the robots he encounters too. In the end, a lot of the mechanoids and people aboard the Axiom Prime learn to become free-willed and independent thinkers... the Captain himself realises that humans have allowed themselves to become captives of the ship's computer for generations.

In a way it's not just a social commentary but also a political one. The ship's computer represents a government - one chosen to be placed in power and acting in a way which makes the population feel that they are being safe and protected, and in this case, the computer genuinely believes that it's acting in the best interests of its people (as per its classified directive)... but in doing so also maintains a brutal and restrictive regime (no splashing!). We see similar social commentaries being made in other forms of fiction such as Star Wars Episode III and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix etc.

"For a safe and secure society!" - Emperor Palpatine, at the birth of the Galactic Empire (Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith)

I also find it brilliant that Wall-E achieves all this in a story that has hardly any dialogue! It's nearly a silent film with most of the story being told to the audience through visual narrative! That is an incredible achievement with itself. :)

At the end of the film i proclaimed loudly "Toy story was 10 times better"
Toy Story is good, but for entirely different reasons as those movies had a different theme - more to do with analysing the nature of friendship as opposed to environmentalism and consumerism (although Toy Story 2 does touch on consumerism with the "evil MISB collector", but it's not really a theme of the story).

My favourite quote from Toy Story as a martial artist would have to be, "This isn't flying. This is falling with style!" :D :)

Less than a week and you can!

I can't go watch the Blu-Ray 1080p version over at a mates place on his huge TV, or I will seriously fold and go get one of those giant TV's myself, just to watch Wall-E in all it's glory. Just plain ol' DVD for me! :)

At first i thought this movie wasn't that appealing

But, when my younger brother rented it "i" was really surprised and impressed with it so i went out and brought the Blu-Ray version.

I Wonder, if they will decide to make a sequel.....
