Okay, a biggie of a poll here.
What is your favourite series/universe/era of Transformers?

It's coming up on the 25th Anniversary of Transformers, which means heaps of series to choose from. Unfortunately, I can only list 10 options in this poll, so will go with the more likely favourites, and give an 'other' option.

If you vote one of the available options, also post what it was, and why it is your ultimate favourite series in the 25 year universe of Transformers.
Also, if you prefer a 'sub-series' (comic, cartoon, etc) within a series listed as a poll option, over another sub-series, please mention it as well (there are probably hundreds of options, so listing them all would take a while).

Please vote seriously though, especially if you are posting what your 'other' option is, as this topic may be stickied to reflect what each member has as their number one favourite series in Transformers.

Also, if you want to comment on other people's opinions, feel free, but please don't belittle them or abuse them for liking something you don't like, or not liking something you do like. There is no wrong answer when it comes to a favourite.

Posting polls is a two part process, and I'm surprised that the post is active while the poster is still doing up the second part (the actual poll). It's there now. :)

It has to be G1 - from Season 1 all the way through to Battlestars: Return of Convoy :)

If I had to pick a 2nd fave, Classics series 1 through to the upcoming Cyclonus/Hound/Inferno would be close behind :)

As I already mentioned, Beast Wars is my fave, purely because of the TV show. I think it was the best Transformers themed TV show ever made, and it's probably my favourite TV show of all time. I didn't read any of the comics from any era so I can't comment on those. As for the toys... well, the toys were awesome in every era!

Of course, if we were voting based on the quality of the videogames, Armada would win by a mile. :p

I voted G1. Love the toys. Canon-wise it's the comics for me and I do like the Japanese animé too (although the manga sucks... ironic no?). Also like the G2 comics and some of the toys. Erm.. yeah, so I voted G1 although it does also include G2 and Beast Wars and Beast Machines.

I've voted G1 based mostly on the Comics.

If we were going just for TV it would have been BW; just toys would have made me vote Alternators.

I was meant to click on Generation 1!

Oh well, my second would probably be the Binaltech/Masterpiece/Alternator line, it proved to me that they could make realistic looking vehicles again!

It's a tough question actually.

I love cybertron as it is what I rode back into the fandom on. I also like animated (the cartoon only), but I also like classics, because of their homages.

But overall it has to be G1. It started it all, and no matter what way you look at it, it is the series that is borrowed from in every single thing transformers related ever since. It is the single thing that has defined the very essence of transformers, and is the single thing that everything transformers is based off.

Voted for G1 but BW is very close second. G1 has accurate and real alt. modes for vehicle modes and i have always loved the different vehicles in it and TF:TM $#% yeah!!! best movie ever!!!!!

Toys are the most important to me, so I've gone for classics/universe. You can't go wrong with new, better versions of G1 favourites. If I could only keep one series on display, I'm pretty sure that would be it.

TBH - very hard decision! Alternators, Classics and Animated are great too!

I voted G1 for the UK comics and some of the toys, but not the cartoon. It's kind of hard for anything else to compare - without the UK comics or the G1 toys then I wouldn't still be a transfan twenty-five years on.

If I could vote for more than one series then Beast Wars and Animated would be way up there too.

I guess I will be the laughing stock of the boards with my choice.

What can I say, I am a big kid and enjoy light hearted fun. Just love the engineering on them and their amazing robot modes. Runners up:

2. Alternators/Binaltech/Masterpiece

3. Classics/Universe

After much thinking and creasing of the brow (although not the Highbrow), I joined Stompy. Animated is #1 for me, but right up its reactor linkage is G1.

I went for animated coz its got some interesting characters. Especially loving high-school jock/Bully Sentinel Prime. I also adore the highly stylised figures. The fact that they are so close to the cartoon spins my brain!

However, whenever I get a Geewun fig, I still loves it to bits (but not pieces).

To bad i could only choose one......
as I like both Generation 1 and the Movie (2007), I chose Generation 1 becuase it was the original series and what started my like of Transformers.:D

I went with the other option. I wouldn't say I really have an overall favourite.
Beast Wars and the IDW G1 stories are my favourite in terms of fiction, where as Classics/Universe 2.0 and the Unicron Trilogy figures are some of my preferred figures.

I wasn't expecting much from that show, but it grabbed me by the throat and sucked me right in.

It was surprisingly good. I think one advantage was they went into a new style. Similar to some of Cartoon Networks other animations, like the Clone Wars. I also like how they have gone back to the Autobots not learning about Earth and how they are also known by the people. Kinda means when there is a battle it can be in the middle of the city or in the middle of nowhere and we don't have a huge paradigm shift

G1

Purely because that was one of the first reasons Transformers came about and became part of our lives. Also I guess in general people tend to prefer and get comfortable in things that they see first. Like how some people were annoyed that Movie bumblebee was not a VW, the same goes for me, classic stuff is good. :)

2) Cybertron / Galaxy force - Love the new characters introduced, the transformations and more figure flexibility. That series produced some of the best TF figures like Evac, Scourge, Leobreaker.

3) Animated - Just because it's plain cute and they use the original characters from G1, with the addition of some other characters from other series and they made Blackarachia easier to like in this series. :D

Wow, that required just too much thought for after lunch at work.
I finally chose Classics/Universe over G1 simply due to the toys. I love my G1 but Classics are just great retakes on our childhood originals which can be put in poses not dreamed of in 1984. And they are available to buy brand new without the ludicrous G1 prices! (I'm sick of being outbid on ebay!). And you can buy spares for repaints etc.
Comics - G1
Cartoon - BW

If Cybertron had been splintered from Armada/Energon, I would have chosen it above G1. Strongest Toyline yet.

And introduced the kick arse legends class. :)

Cybertron sure has been the high for toys. Engineering and quality wise. It landed on all of the ladders. Almost everything since has been landing on the snakes.

Ok so I decided to split away from BW on the terms of this poll. I personally see BW as a whole (excluding BM), including takara, since they recoloured alot of the moulds. So im also including the show in my choice hehe. The reason i chose Tk-BW is because I honestly think the colours are much better and I love how they went into a different direction by choosing more realistic beast modes rather than supporting transmetals (or should I say transmetals 2?). Perhaps my liking of animals makes me biased. However, I did grow up with with g1 and the Love the characters (woot classics!) and appreciate the foundation it represents and realism in the toys, but honestly, I knew they were bricks even when I was younger. Balls joints are the best (imo) thing to ever happen to tf's. RID/CR, Galaxy force/CYB and classics are the next best line(s) to me.

King Atlas: Umm... you do know that Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo are in the same continuity as Beast Wars (Canadian) right?
i.e.: it's not just your opinion, it's a canonical fact. They're meant to be an expansion/extension of the Canadian BW series just like how the UK comics were an expansion on the US comics and how IDW are expanding the movie universe with stuff like Saga of the AllSpark, Reign of Starscream, the prequel etc. Watch the Beast Wars movie - it establishes the Japanese and Canadian series as being in the same universe. Simon Furman also made further links between the Anglophone and Japanese BW series in the IDW Beast Wars comics and profile books.

Yeah I knew that, but I thought some people might not have seen it that way (Perhaps the reason it is seperated in this poll, plus some people dont know much about the takara BW "era"). I downloaded the movie, but it was only half and the other part was not available so I didn't get to see Burning Beast Convoy and Flash Lio Convoy. Might get it later if it is easy to find (or should I say seeded well). Henshin!!

I grew up watching Takara's Headmasters through to Victory (and recently saw Zone) - so it's that for me - Ahh - nostalgia :D (So I obviously snapped up the DVDs madman put out when they appeared :D)

 Why no G2? :D I love the tail end of Generation 2...

"Hello articulation! Goodbye plastic bricks!"
Laser Rods, Cyberjets...

Ok, thats about as far as articulation goes, but it was the start of a new way of making toys. Sadly after Robots in Disguise it took until the tail end of Cybertron to recreate that level of articulation in a main line, imo.

Animated, today. Just cause I'm loving the toys and I'm able to buy most of the bots from the series. I always wanted a full bot collection from one of the TF cartoon series, and this one is the most convenient for me atm.

Oh and G1 coz it started it all and is great and the comics are the best in the world etc etc. :)

G1 started everything. It brought us combiners, headmasters, micromasters, pretenders (puke), etc. It's tough to not acknowledge it as the greatest.

I'd love to see this poll without the 500 pound gorilla in the room. Assuming it isn't there, I think Classics 1.0 is the best and Animated is a close second. I'd also like to see Classics 1.0 separated from 2.0/Universe as I think they're worlds apart.
