I know we have a thread for 'other' toy acquisitions, but given SW has its own forum now I think it would suite to have its own acquisition thread.

I'll start: as you probably all know I got a 9cm Build a Weapon Stormtrooper.

While I've pretty much retired from collecting Star Wars, I decided to pick up 3 10cm figures from Kmart today (whereas 10 years ago I would've collected the whole line at the midnight launch :p). I grabbed Kylo Ren, Finn and a Stormtrooper. I've played with some of these figures at the EB Games Expo, so I know that I'm going to be disappointed by the 70s/80s level of 5-point articulation. :rolleyes:

I saw Poe Dameron at Target, but the queue was too long for me to bother lining up for. Aaah, wish I'd gotten it when she was still common when the toys were just released. Ah well, this is what happens when I stop paying attention to the toy line. :p I've noted some of the other "WTB" figures that people are looking out for and I'll grab one and PM those people if I happen to find them on my travels, so it'd be appreciated if anyone could also keep an eye out for Rey for me.

ok so i've started to go a little nuts on getting some black series figures. i just grabbed the latest wave with ahsoka tano. i'm a little annoyed with the QC though, checking TRU and myer it seems sometimes you have to settle for the one with the least defects or most liveable flaws. i missed one on my ahsoka though, the tattoo detailing on her forehead is off-center to the side, looks weird :/ i might see if i can find a good one somewhere else.

I received my SDCC Black Series Thrawn set and Luke/Landspeeder set. I took Thrawn out, tried to move his right elbow and the arm snapped off at the joint and went flying. Off to a great start :rolleyes::(:mad: Now I'm scared to open the landspeeder set!

SH Figuarts are great but I stick to human characters. For me, troops and droids are done pretty well in other forms. Plus easier to troop build. :P

But the human characters I've got are all non-regret purchases:\
- Jedi Luke
- ANH Luke
- Han Solo
- Mace Windu
- Ep I Obi Wan
- Ep II Anakin
- Epi II Padme
- have Ep I Qui Gonn coming this month

Also have the Iron Man 3 Tony Stark and Suicide Squad Harley Quinn, and both amazing. Really just look like a person has been shrunk down to that scale, rather than it being a toy of a person.

got my Black series Darth Vader helmet today from robotkingdom


makes different sounds depending on how much of the helmet is on

if you take the back and top off just leaving the breathing part on it makes the gasping breathing sounds

put it all together and it makes the normal vader breathing sounds.
also makes sounds when the bits connect.

The magnets that connect the bottom to the main face section are very strong. but the magnets that attatch to the top/back piece are not as strong as i would prefer

over all, this thing is awesome and is going to look great with my growing collection of starwars/marvel helmets

Yeah Snoke is probably the only one I want from this line that I will get locally. I got 3 Hoth Troopers on preorder at BBTS. The rest don’t interest me (at the moment).

So, when I heard news of a reissue of the original 70s Kenner figures, I preordered as soon as I could.

To me, the Vader figure itself looks just like the original figure, including an extensible light saber on its right arm.
The front of the card has the same graphics as the original card, with the addition of the appearance of wear and tear on the edges of the card. There's a large circular sticker (yes, it's a removable sticker) with the words 'Retro Collection'.

I am looking forward to a Retro Collection release of C3PO and R2-D2 in future waves.

I haven't read about plans for a pristine card variant of these. I can imagine some vintage SW collectors wouldn't be happy if Hasbro released pristine card versions.

Some vintage collectors seem to think so, and that's not restricted to SW collecting, but other toylines e.g. TF G1.

MISB/MOSC collectors who previously had no choice but to pay for a sealed vintage now having an option of buying a much cheaper minty reissue that looks very similar. I suppose adding the weathering effect to the card will differentiate the Retro from the original carded figures enough.

I can definitely see it from the MISB/MOSC collector point of view. For the casual collector, it's a good way obtain a replica of the original.

Yeah got Commander Fox from Robotkingdom (before they put the price up or sell out).
That Luke definitely looks alot better in person. I think it’s actually the best so far.

I got the Takodana Encounter 4pk to get BB8 and got Vintage Collection R2D2 (battle damaged version) VC149 which is the one that goes with the Vintage Collection Luke X Wing as it is suppose to match the battle damage applications

Picked up black series Rey a couple of days ago. It's taken me quite a while to get past them not being Star Wars Figures (y'know, 3 3/4") but I'm finally warming up to these things.

Also the way every Rey I saw was packaged, hunched over to make room for her satchel behind her, looked so rubbish I seriously wavered on whether to get her at all - she's a whole new figure just standing up straight. And speaking of standing up straight I thought for a bit it was just the manufacturer genericising to save effort, but according to google Daisy Ridley and Gina Carano are pretty much the same height. Did they stand her on a box on set, or was it just wishful thinking on my part that Cara Dune's somewhere above 6'?

(For the record that brings the black series total to Rey, Cara, Rebels Ahsoka, Hutt-slayer Leia, and Whichever Sister.)

Shadow Weaver was actually the point of the order, but since I've been warming up to the black series at last I tossed in the ones that were going cheap when I ordered. Not sure why Padders apparently isn't popular, but maybe it's just been so long everyone's already got some other version of her. Or maybe nobody's interested if you can't see her abs. I don't like Space Khaleesi's pose I've got her in at the moment but I honestly can't remember enough about her to think of something more characterful than 'generic action stance'. Rose looks great though (give or take the awful hairdo).

Yeah, see thats the issue I was having. Then the Saga boxset is a massive rectangular looking kinda thing so I thought just get the individuals. One disappointing thing are the menus, the bliu-rays home menu's were amazing, 4K its just the cover art with some animation.

Got Sideshow Collectibles Legendary 1/2 scale Yoda yesterday. It's a really well done rendition of Yoda during the Clone Wars. His face sculpt is absolutely spot-on and the wired hem in his coat allows for some nice posing options. Popcultcha still has about 12 in stock but Sideshow Collectibles is on waitlist, so if you're a Yoda fan get it while you can.

I just received an XM Studios 1/4 scale Luke Skywalker (Rebel Pilot). It's a fully sculpted cold-cast porcelain statue, limited to 500 pieces world wide(mine is no.412/500). A lot of people say it's the best Luke Skywalker statue on the market. I don't know if that's true or not, but it looks pretty good and the facial sculpt really looks like Mark Hamill. If you're a Luke Skywalker fan or just a Star Wars fan in general looking for a nice centrepiece for your collection, I highly recommend it.

Yep, that's the one. I bought mine from Spec Fiction in the USA. They still have 1 left. I was also watching a few on eBay but decided to order from Spec Fiction due to their positive reputation. It wasn't cheap - about $1400AUD for the statue and about $700AUD for shipping. They did have some cheaper shipping options but I always like to choose the fastest method. Either way I am very happy with it.

Yeah thanks. They have some nice stuff that's for sure. I see that XM Studios Luke Skywalker is sold out now. I hope I was able to inspire someone on this forum to pick him up.

Bought the TVC Stormtrooper (Nevarro Cantina) deluxe figure yesterday on sale at ZiNG for $39. Unfortunately, it's missing the piece that goes on the end of the gun so the trooper can actually hold it. This isn't the first time, either. I got the same set in 2022 from Big W (when they had them in stock for about two days) and the exact same piece was missing.
Has anyone else had this piece missing? Is it a common QC issue or am I just extremely unlucky?

Well, I returned the figure on the twelfth, which isn't really what I wanted to do - the poor staff probably get hassled constantly and they've been nothing but good from my experience - and they said they'd set aside a copy from the next order that came in. I picked that up today and the exact same piece was missing...
