So TRU Doncaster price matched Amazon US and I snagged Tryticon for $101!
Even marked down he's still going for $275. Give it a shot!

I didn't think TRU price matched overseas online stores.
Should've bought more ;)

I was in shock.
I was 99% sure they wouldn't price match from online let alone US online! The girl at the counter just looked at pics I took of the listing on my phone for a grand total of half a second and said "Yeah ok", didn't call the manager, didn't ask for any other details in fact was asking me what the price was again as she's entering it in. Sometimes retail workers who don't give a crap are just awesome. lol
I also got the Blaster/Perceptor pack for the $83 Amazon price. I didn't want to
push my luck with anything else.

Great score!
I don't think anyone else would be as fortunate to find a TRU staff that easy on price matching... But we're all hoping for one though. Lol :p

Marry the girl. On second thoughts, perhaps not.

Must be the christmas spirit or just didn't want to hold up the line. Normally, those who don't know will require a manager to authorize the price match. And also TRU wants a catalogue and checks the closest store to verify stock first before price matching.
You got lucky!

Yeah, I am pretty sure the girl is going get a scolding or some lecture.

No doubt.
Formal disciplinary action which may may result in Termination of employment as a result of excessive price reductions without authorisation, is also a possibility.

I think you may have unintentionally lost this girl her job.

Her incompetence/negligence/indifference would be the likely factors, not the the guy who showed her the picture on his phone.

Yeah , posting the receipt might not be the best idea..... I'd edit the post to remove store name too

Yeah, this. Don't want people too loose their jobs over toys.

If she did get in trouble it would come from the head office accounts department or daily store banking not from anything on this thread.
It takes 3 strikes to lose a job after probation. Speculation is just silly because you don't know! For all you know the sale just went under the radar since accounts would be flat out with the holiday sales.

This is reminding me of that story where a guy cheated Starbucks by getting the most expensive drink they had, but he got it for free because he bought a certain amount of coffees or something.

That analogy needs a bit more work....."or something".
I barely buy anything from TRU and asking if they'd price match Amazon US is not cheating anyone nor is it fraud/illegal.
So in short it's fine that the girl was incompetent/apathetic. It's my fault for asking for something outside the store rules and if she gets in trouble it's all on me and she's fine.
That's some serious mental gymnastics right there.

Cheer up. There's no need for self pity. You got a bargain.
More importantly, no retail staff ought to risk losing his/her job as a result.

The "girl" may have actually BEEN the store manager for all anyone on this thread knows, so I shouldn't worry too much.

I'm not upset or "mad brah" but if my ethics are questioned I'm kinda compelled to defend them.
I was being sarcastic for the latter half of my last post.
Meh haters gonna hate and jealous of my $101 Behemoth lol

It wasn't your fault. My post was just surprised you managed to score it.
I am sure the girl would be instructed what not to do the next time, wasn't aiming at your ethics or anything.

they are very strict there, well since usually not much people in there to begin with :D (price matched a pram last week and they did all the research and took their time before they approved it, took us about an hour)

Saw a heap of Trypticons yesterday at the TRU Miranda store. If it stays at $399 they will shelf warm for a long time but it could be due for Bluestreak style price reduction shortly. I'm surprised they didn't at least do the currency conversion when doing the price match, that would have made it more fair. But I can't fault you for grabbing a bargain, it was their choice to price match.
