The 4 rotors on Vortex's back don't look nearly as good as I thought. Blast Off looks fine for a shuttle. I'll probably stick to Hasbro, since I have Swindle already.

I thought the same about the chest from the smaller/blurry picture. I think it's better in this new larger/clearer version. Feet look about right though.

Given the constraints of the basic Deluxe limbs while remaining faithful to the G1 design, I must say that Blast Off looks fantastic. Thankfully for my wallet I'm not interested in Bruticus.

Definitely agree with you both! It may not be the best mold, but it's definitely better than a repaint!

I'm glad I decided to wait for this one. I didn't mind the fact that CW Blast-off was a fighter plane, since it makes sense in a team of military vehicles. I was turned off by the fact that Hasbro made him a redeco of Slingshot. A new head would've been enough.

I'm not such a stickler for G1-accuracy in this case; I want unique moulding for Blast-off.

Yeah the Alpha Bravo mold is overstaying it's welcome. I really hope they fix up the colours on that guy too. It's one of the things that has been holding me off getting the CW release.


The shuttle mode Blast-Off is better than I expected but (like Groove) is not groundbreaking stuff. Still intending to get a CW Blast-Off for the thematic sense of it all.

I'm pretty happy with Takara's Version of Blast Off for this series. I like that they have at least attempted to make the arms part of the shuttle mode (booster rockets) and has a more accurate head :cool:

I was ok with the choice of a fighter plane for the Hasbro version but could not for the life of me understand why they chose Slingshot's head :confused: Alpha Bravo's head would of been an much better choice IMO...it at least has a face plate...

He looks more like a dark gunmetal grey in vehicle mode in the first pic valkyrie_76 posted, but he looks much darker in 'bot mode though, almost black.

The brown is a lot more noticeable in this pic than the others. Although the only problem is, the brown on the toy is too light!

That said, the brown in the 'toon pic does look similar to the brown in the combined mode in this pic (although Vortex looks too dark here):

The colours of Blast Off in that image in the post above look really wrong, which is weird for TakaraTomy, as they've been very good with the colours of the combiners so far.

I think it is because it's too light a shade of brown. Whatever else, Hasbros version did get the colour right.

I'm finding the light blue they are using for Vortex instead of dark green more unsettling than Blast Off. Looks like another set where I'll be making the gestalt out of my least fav versions of each character from the two sets

Good to see clear pics. They've come close to the cartoon colors but not close enough. And even then the show colours aren't what I think I for these guys. Comic or toy colours preferred TBH, like a more silver and green Onslaught. I'd like shuttle Blast Off but will see if Hasbro releases him.

The different coloured feet for Brawl and Swindle also make the scramble possibilities a bit of a colour mismatch.

It doesn't lock into anything in robot mode so its an open flimsy joint in a spot that shouldn't have one, so it moves when playing with the figure

I got a second set for Onslaught (Grand Scourge stole my first set) and the brawl locks in ALOT better and is less floppy...

Very small mould differences, and a different number in the peice (i'm on the other side of Oz right now) but one has a 1 and one has a 2 in it....

But downside... the arms and legs don't seem to sit as flush together in Tank mode...

Maybe there was a running change to tighten it up.
It still doesn't fix the awful "gutted" look Brawl has... with nothing between his chest and waist. He looks like a hanging butchered cow/sheep/pig, with a huge gap between the ribcage and the hindquarters.
I think they over-complicated the design when it wasn't necessary, and as a result, the robot mode ended up looking deformed.

It's odd but it seems to be the one combiner that TakaraTomy have made less screen or toy accurate with the colours being wrong on three of them. They usually put so much effort into theirs that it blows the Hasbro versions out of the water, but the colours on the Hasbro Combaticons look better. I hope a Hasbro release of Blast Off has the colours of their jet Blast Off.
