Any one has any idea about the market price of these? I have a reservation for 2 pieces but am thinking of dropping one since it is quite pricey (but still a piece I must get).

It'll no doubt slowly rise over time, and likely end up at about four times original price. That's typical for the eHobby toys. Or it could do an Anime Astrotrain, and end up at ten times the original price.

Initial market value 1.5-2 times purchase price is usual.

fyi the toy's actual name is "Gadep." :)

Hmm... I thought Guardian Robots referred to a class of generic robots fulfiling that function. Good to know this guy has a name!

If you want to compare prices, RK has it for US$184.90 excl. shipping.

I think "Gadep" is the Japanese name for the Guardian Robots... not sure as I haven't seen "War Dawn" dubbed in Japanese (I've only seen Season 1 and TFTM dubbed in JP). There's a comic that comes with Gadep which should explain more. :)

Beats calling it "Dave." :p

Found in Wikia, apparently it's a "retconned" acronym -> http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Guardian_robot (see the footnote)

Hmmm... thought it was generic. I was at first thinking of buying an army of these and having them smash each other up... until the price became a little prohibitive. Ah well.

E-Hobby are listing it at Aus $155 (http://www.e-hobby.co.jp/cgi-bin/omc?port=33301&req=PRODUCT&ett=20080415050720227986000000&parentpage=10468930&hier=20050915090721538698000000) :)

Presumably that's without shipping? So with shipping it'll be AU$200-215 thereabouts I suppose.

heh. For stuff like Guardian Robots, Sharkticons, Junkions and Sweeps, I think its reasonable to have many multiples, like an army of them!!! :D

The toy comes with Omega Supreme's stickers... has anyone bothered to use any of them on Gadep? I haven't because I don't think any of them particularly suit him. I did however use two stickers - I used the smaller Autobot insignia (intended for Omega Supreme's belly, though Gadep has a rub sign there so it's redundant for him) on my Voyager Animated Prime! I cannot believe that Hasbro released this toy without a freakin' Autobot insignia on his shoulder. (-_-) Happy Meal Prime has insignias on his shoulders, but the Voyager doesn't. *sigh* Anyway, the sticker makes it gooder now. :) The larger Autobot insignia (intended for Omega Supreme's breast, but on Gadep there's already an insignia there so again it's redundant) I stuck on the rocket of my Omega Supreme to make it more show-like.

The pic's blurry, but you get the idea.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/ani_prime_sticker.jpg

P.S.: I love how this toy comes with sheets of Autobot and Decepticon logos of varying sizes. Neat! :D I wouldn't recommend using any of the eHobby logo stickers for Animated Optimus Prime though because it's a red logo against a completely transparent background, which means that the logo ends up being red on red. The Omega Supreme sticker on the other hand, while still semi-transparent, has a white background so it stands out better against Prime's red shoulder.

i always thought Omega Supreme had pretty dodgy stickers... but to use the sticker on an animated prime? that's erm, such a waste?

GoktimusPrime
6th October 2008, 05:20 PM
It's something I shouldn't have to do... considering that I paid approx. $45 for Voyager Animated Prime I feel really ripped that something as simple and ridiculously inexpensive as placing an Autobot insignia on his shoulder was omitted by Hasbro. (-_-)

Besides, what else am I going to do with those stickers? My G1 Omega Supreme isn't missing those stickers and while I can excuse them on Omega Supreme I think they would look ridiculous on Gadep. Besides, considering that the toy comes with two sheets full of Autobot and Decepticon insignias, it's not as if I'm gonna be running out of them any time too soon. :p I chose the Omega Supreme ones over the ones supplied by eHobby though because I needed the white background to make it stand out against Prime's red shoulder.

Did anyone else get a 'mini comic' with their Gadep? If so, where was it in the box? I just found out today on the Allspark forum (http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52075) that there was a mini-comic with the Ehobby Guardian robot, but I didn't appear to get it with mine. It wasn't in the bag with the stickers, instructions and biocard - was it just loose in the box perhaps?
Not happy... :(

I really don't think these mini-comics add anything to the figure as a whole. *shrugs*

I mean,
After having read through my Nightbeat comic (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/tfcc-timelines-cheap-shots-now-available/14310/), I'm pretty sure I could have survived without it... :)

griffin

Yeah I know, but it's nice to have an expensive limited edition figure arrive with nothing actually missing, no matter how insignificant...

GoktimusPrime
28th October 2008, 06:04 PM
IMO the Gadep comic was better than the Nightbeat comic, even if it was very brief and far simpler as a story... simpler yet effective. The Nightbeat comic tried too hard IMO.

Anyway, it should've come in that bag with those sticker sheets.

griffin
29th October 2008, 02:35 AM
Nup, it wasn't in the bag. I even unfolded the instructions in case it was caught up in that. And it's not something that will be easy to find secondhand. :(

And I'm guessing that the reissue Omega Supreme also had a biocard, in it's bag? I wouldn't have even thought about it if I didn't see the blue one with Gadep.
So I'm missing something from both Omegas. :(
QC is just as bad from both companies.

Packaged in jet mode, RK wouldn't have seen either the face or the 'pants'. And with the sheer volume they sell, I think only the really obvious defects would catch their attention.

I try not to be too fussed either(even if I can't read it, I like the pretty pictures...:p ), so only if you really really really really reheheally don't want the minicomic. :)
Sure, it would be bad if it was missing a leg clip or some other toy part instead, but this sort of thing just bugs me. Especially the biocard.

Why would you want to return him? You have a super rare "special variant" Ramjet!

Can always wait and sell him as a "super rare variant" to an idiot on ebay when the sequel movie increases interest in transformers again! :p

I mentioned this cos RK recently stuffed up one of my orders (but they fixed it quicksmart :)) but I can also recall them stuffing up quite a few of other people's orders in the past. I suggested that they should try to look into why this occurs (I used a friendly tone) but I never got a reply. When it comes to BBTS, the person who packs the order stamps the invoice with their name - & I've never heard of BBTS getting orders wrong.

I'm not sure how e-Hobby sent individual toys, because I received four, which was a sealed case. The comics were loose in little bags (with the usual e-Hobby allegiance symbol sheets) at the bottom of the case.

griffin
30th October 2008, 02:08 PM
So you're saying that the mini-comic was not actually in the toy box, but loose in the master case? I read the earlier post as, the minicomic was in the baggie with the instructions. I got mine from RK, so it would probably be up to the online stores to notice the minicomics, and pass them on with their individual shipments of Gadep.

griffin
30th October 2008, 02:21 PM
I had another look at the box my order with Gadep came in to see if they put the baggie of mini-comic and *extra* sticker sheet in with my order, but they weren't. Coincedentally, it was an Ehobby Gadepu master carton, so even if they didn't know about the extras to remove them from the master cartons, I should have still ended up with it, or multiples actually.
I'll actually ask RK about it, to see what they are doing with the *bonus* items, or if they are passing them on, and get mine sent with my next order from them.

I may order a fair bit from them, which helps keep their error rate low, but this is the third problem with them now (first was splitting my order and not sending the second box until I notified them of the first one arriving, which they mentioned in a receipt email I don't read, and the second was holding off my entire order because of one pre-order item without warning me). At least they haven't ever missed anything or sent something in error with me, so it could be worse...
