Even though the main Transformers presentation isn't for another day, a preview presentation was given to investors and media today (http://news.tfw2005.com/2016/02/12/tfw2005-coverage-hasbro-toy-fair-2016-investor-press-event-309206), detailing sales and strategies for the company across their brands.
From that we get a few sneak peaks of products, and reveals of specific details, like...
- a group image of some Generations toys (Hardhead, Sentinel Prime, Blaster and Fortress Maximus).
- the Generations toys are labelled as the Prime Wars Trilogy (which I think has been noted before).
- a better look at the new RID Power Surge Optimus toy.
- the new Rescue Bots car character is called Quickshadow.
- a new Rescue Bots playset and some new vehicles were shown.
- the three current targeted demographics for their toys are "Preschool" at 3-5 with Rescue Bots, "Core boys" (still gender specific labelling) at 5-10 with RID, and "Fan" at 10+ with Prime Wars Trilogy.
- Generations toyline now account for 30% of their Transformers sales, which is aimed at older fans, so it is possible to assert that older fans (the 10+ demographic) makes about 30% of their sales now.
- An Asian CybertronCon is scheduled for 2016.
- release dates of the next three Transformers movies - TF5 (June 23 2017), TF6 is a Bumblebee spin-off movie (June 8 2018), TF7 (June 28 2019).

Don't know if I'm reading into it too much but the pic of the kid identified as a "casual fan" has Blaster (presumably from the Platinum release last year) and the G1 technobots in it. Do I dare dream that they are going to do a Platinum release of Computron? Why would a young casual fan have a combiner released about 30 years ago?

Wow, the CW series isn't hitting until July? I was pretty hyped about this when it was first announced but its dragged on so long and without a lot of real info, that I'm losing interest in it pretty quickly. :/

Add that Windblade looks to be the main character and it just doesn't seem like its going to be very interesting. Combiner Wars is supposed to be about the combiners. Not a new character that Hasbro is trying to push hard.

I'd love to be proved wrong, but as is often the case I suspect the hype will far overshadow the reality.

Did I read it correctly, only 8 episodes 7 mins each?

You did. Makes it feel even more that it's going to be a let down. They would have been better off making it a 60min special OVA or something. They've already missed the whole CW tie-in window - don't see the point in dragging it out over 8 episodes now.

I thought we knew that already. That it was just going to be a web series.

I expected short eps like that GI Joe cartoon a few years back.

Yeah just had a look through the full presentation. That picture of the Chinese father and son is probably not the best shot for them to use. Third Party Devastator and Takara Tomy MP-9 Rodimus.

Also I noticed that growth in Australia is at 3%, anyone know if that's good or bad?

I must've missed that before. :o
I knew it was going to be a web series, but I didn't realize they were only going to be 7 min eps.

An update has noted (http://news.tfw2005.com/2016/02/12/transformers-6-tentative-title-revealed-bumblebee-movie-309597) that the Bumblebee movie for 2018 is now being called TF6, making the 2019 movie TF7.
I have edited the first post, and have also edited the bit about 30%, as I have re-read that slide, and it is referring to the Generations toyline on that slide, noting that it is for older fans and growing 55% over the last 4 years... not really commenting on older fans, otherwise it would have listed more things aimed at older fans than just Generations.

It has also been revealed (http://news.tfw2005.com/2016/02/12/official-press-release-hasbro-new-work-toy-fair-2016-309604), another Power Surge Optimus toy, which looks to be a reworking of the Warrior class toy... so the one revealed at the preview event looks like it will be a large sized toy. We get multiple releases of various toys and versions of characters, so it should be expected that if Power Surge Optimus is featured on the cartoon, there will be several Power Surge Optimus toys across the size classes.

Something interesting...Seibertron.com is down for me today, but over at tformers.com I found a brief breakdown of the presentation (http://tformers.com/toy-fair-2016-hasbro-investor-press-day-event-with-details-on-combiner-wars-animation-transformers-5-6-more/28538/news.html).
From the article:
Fans - Hasbro has categorized fans into four categories: "Casual Fans," "Core Fans," "Hardcore Fans," and "Super Fans." Generations will continue to court the adult collector. Hasbro intends to hold more polls to better understand what their dedicated fans want. Older fans are cited as 30% of the Transformers business.Does anyone know/did they say what the rubric they're using to divide the fans into said categories is? It'd be kind of interesting to know, and what the numbers are for each category here.:)

Tformers have misinterpreted the slide about the 30% (see my post above).

And the bit about the fan categories only mentions scale of spend, but no specific amounts. See the 14th slide from Tformers titled "Levels of Engagement".

No... Generations makes up 30% of their sales.

And even if that referred to older fans (as Hasbro refers to it on that Generations slide), another slide defines older fans as 10+ years of age, so it's not just adults.

Awwww balls :(

I was hoping for either a feature-length DVD movie or a half-dozen 23 minute episodes - I've been so looking forward to it, that's really bummed me out :(

On the slide about older fans, it says "30% of the Transformer Toy business", but just after it says "55% 4-year CAGR". Does anyone know what the acronym means?

Compound Annual Growth Rate. Think it pretty much means that the annual increase per year over the 4 years is an average of 55% per annum. Within those 4 years some could be low like 30% and others high like 75%. Just a nice averaged out figure over the stated number of years.

That's still pretty cool, as Generations is a line that appeals to fans of all ages. :) The more popularity that Classicsverse can enjoy the better.

For the Preview presentation, the link is in the first post of this topic of the slide show images that Hasbro gave out.

For the Transformers presentation that was on today, none of the fansites appear to have images of the slideshow, so it might have been a "no photo" event that Hasbro didn't give out later (other than official images of toys that the sites have since posted up).

Sounds about right going by what I see sold at work. Of course it would help that number if Generations was restocked...
