Something huge and nice looking. Too bad it doesn't transform but for this size, I don't think I am bothered with truck mode.

I love large Optimus Prime moulds (stares lovingly at Ultimetal Optimus), so if this is a reasonable price I'll get him. Weren't there some more pictures somewhere on one of the Facebook forums?
I vaguely remember seeing this post a day or 2 ago but can't remember where I saw it.

Well it will be as tall as Titans devy at 45.7 cm approx.

Um was not affordable for me though it was a solid figure.

I'm not nobody. :P

But like I said, will depend on price.
He'll be around the same height as Ultimetal I think, so could be an interesting match up. I'm curious to see how well the detailing comes up on the actual figure.

Well is just $185 and looks great, I only don't have the space for it as it is a affordable version of um.

Bladestorm

Space is my issue too.

He does look very plasticky compared to Ultimetal but his detailing is quite nice. I got to see him up close at HKACG. He is a little chunky but I can live with that. I just need to figure out how and where I would put him as I don't have much display area and Ultimetal already has pride of place...
For the price he really is a good deal even though he doesn't transform.

Too many cool things coming out in the next few months. Decisions, decisions!

Personally I am more compelled to sell my MPs and just have this guy in my display. Was thinking about it as I don't have extra funds for this.

I'm getting this:) Massive, great articulation, looks amazing, great price. What's not to love? Really dont care if it doesnt transform if he has the articulation and detail to make up for it. And I have MP10 for all my transforming needs.

The way i see it is $200 for an MP11 reissue with no improvements and all the existing flaws or $185 for this. It's an easy decision for a G1 fan like me.

It will be interesting to see if it looks comparable to the UM. Even though it's plastic i dont think it looks plastic. UM looks plastic to me in photos.

UM had a really well done gimmick with the voice lines and moving mouth piece. I like that they included different variations of the same recorded line.

Apparently he has a metallic paint finish hence why he looks metal. Still cant get over the fact he's bigger than CW Devy. That's insane to me.

Whoa, at 48cm that definitely puts him in the big league. Wonder what the alt mode looks like. You should be able to do some neat things with that (especially the interior) at that size.

UM looks better (my personal opinion) and when you see UM up close you realise there is definitely more to him than meets the eye... he's lovely and heavy as he's made with metal and looks like he's just walked out of a G1 cartoon. And of course he talks which is a GREAT conversation starter when you freak people out. ;)

However this guy despite looking a bit plasticky irl (especially around the arms and autobot logo) is going to be more articulate I am sure and so might be fun to pose and be more hands on to play with.

Here's a few pics I took of MAS-01 at HKACG:

https://c5.staticflickr.com/9/8567/28414483140_4e4d013bc6_z.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/KhTDTJ)

He is a little bit like Ben Affleck's Batman - a bit TOO chunky in proportions, whereas UM is just like an oversized MP-1 but I quite like the exaggeration of MAS which is why I am seriously considering getting him to contrast with my other figures... and the price is almost too good not to get him. :)

drifand
21st August 2016, 12:09 PM
Mas is not being based on original g1 in looks and build, is based on that artist hence the chunky style. I would not attempt to compare being g1 as that's just nuts imo as it's obviously trying not to be.

Still waiting to see alt mode pics. So... Toys Alliance is a HK based company and Hasbro is obviously a US company, although the licensing may be from HK AP, that's fine... so why is there Japanese text on the box? (wouldn't Chinese make more sense for the target market?) Is TakaraTOMY planning on releasing this in Japan?

DaptoDog

I don't like the chunkiness as some others have pointed out. Something else has been bugging me about it but I couldn't put my finger on it till now - the shoulders sit higher than the chest. That just looks wrong to me.

If not for those two things I would have definitely picked it up. Will be a cool display piece for those that get him.

It doesnt transform. Apparently there is some licensing agreement set by Hasbro preventing transformations with all official 3rd party toys.

Yeah it's a stylized G1 he looks something similar to IDW or comic book exaggerated proportions. It's close enough for me to accept that it's G1.

The appeal for me is the detail and articulation. For something so bulky its very cool to be able to do all those poses. And the fact it's the size of a baby.

Very excited about this one!

I did not know that, but it makes sense. :) So this is basically a really big (and very expensive) version of what Action Master Optimus Prime should have been. ;)

Correct. The hands most certainly do rotate and although the feet do not "yaw", they do have ankle tilt.

The Benscollectables video shows these points: (4:30 for hand swivel) and (5:50 for ankle tilt).

I saw the wrist rotation but not swivel or should I say tilt? It looks like it does move slightly on a ball joint but you can't make a talk to the hand type pose. It's a shame because its something relatively easy to do just add a joint with a pin at the wrist. Its simple but adds a ton of possibility options and styles.

For those interested in this big bot Premium Collectables still has some places in round two pre orders, and for the price and size I think it's a great deal, would make a nice centerpiece for any collection

Ok, I see you what mean. I don't think Ben mentions a wrist swivel in the video and I can't tell. It doesn't bother me though, as IMO the articulation is already superb.

This Prime is going to make a great centrepiece. Bring on Megatron!

I have him and he's big and chunky, but his colour is a bit too "pink" for me.
Also, he is very light and clunky (literally - very clicky when moving the joints) but feels like he will break if you play around with him too much.

Here are the side by sides of him with my Ultimetal.

He came with free batteries too but I haven't put them in as batteries in figures tend to leak quickly in the HK humidity so I'll save them to use when we eventually move back to Oz.

And his gun is insanely big... think classics Megaron size (just not as chunky).

I'm not as enamoured with him as I thought I would be but given the price he is good value if you want an oversized non-transforming Optimus but can't afford Ultimetal and like that "hulkbuster" look.
