Hi, I've started a new blog/website and will be posting up reviews of different Transformer figures, cartoons and comics. I will also be writing articles about the franchise in general. You can find all this (as well as articles about things like meat, hobby farming etc and the 'Ask Trev!' section) here:

http://www.bigangrytrev.com/

The Transformer specific section is here: http://www.bigangrytrev.com/?cat=3

Happy reading, and don't forget to subscribe! :)

First article is up, an update of a review I wrote on here a while back about Gigantic Action Scorponok. Thought given the release of Fort Max and Trypticon in that size over the next 18 months it might be relevant :)

Did you read the 'Ask Trev' article about which is the most evil animal? ;)

I see. Well that bile infused rant has me placated.

I have to disagree with that pick for most evil as they are very tasty and in my mind, something so tasty can't be that evil!

Operation: Soundwave Review

Perhaps even surpassing Megatron, Soundwave is along with Optimus Prime the most recognizable and remembered characters and toys from the 1980s even non-TF fans remember Soundwave with a fondess there was something just so cool about him! A tape deck that ejected micro-cassettes that turned into animals and robots and was a bad guy had massive appeal. And here we see Soundwave recreated yet again, this time for the first time as a Headmaster with Titans Return Soundwave.

Excerpt: As the last of the vehicle-themed Gestalt Groups based on the American G1 cartoon and toyline, many people have been hanging out to get their greedy little cyber-mitts on the Technobots. However unlike most of the other Gestalt Groups, there are a lot of distinct differences between the Unite Warriors and the Combiner Wars versions of the teams. Plus they have been released within a month of each other, rather than six months apart like most of the other toys. So here we go, in what is probably my BIGGEST and MOST DETAILED Transformers review to date, a comparison of the two gift sets: Unite Warriors Computron VS Combiner Wars Computron!

Just when you think the Combiner Wars toyline is dead, they keep chugging along with even more obscure subgroups. This time they have given us a character that you may be unfamiliar with unless you watched the Japanese G1 cartoon series Victory back in the 1980s. A group originally named Breastforce (no Im not making that up and yes, you are allowed to giggle) has been reborn as the Destrons (the JP name for Decepticons in general) who combine into an almighty gestalt! So here we go, a big review for a name as long as some of the old Street Fighter games, Combiner Wars Liokaiser: Platinum Edition!

Ah Inferno. So cool yet so overlooked. A gung-ho character that was either fighting fires or fighting Cons or dealing with his psychotic superior. Inferno is not considered a fan favourite by many, but I always loved the guy! The original toy was great with lots of features and was a good size for its era and he was a fun character on screen during Season 2 of the G1 cartoon (my personal favourite TF eps ever!) Now to appease the likes of me, Tak/Tom have brought us Masterpiece Inferno!

Excerpt from Blog: Femmebots, the slang term for female Transformers, are becoming more commonplace but are still for the most part a rarity you can count how many get released each year without taking off your socks. Rescue Bots has been the longest running single Transformers cartoon show in history and they have finally introduced a female Autobot into their admittedly rather small ensemble. Quickshadow is a very cool character, coming across as a highly competent, British-sounding spy. Being a sportscar that turns into a female robot makes Quickshadow sound like a James Bond wet dream come to life and for those of us that like to collect female Transformers sounded like a new toy to look forward to collecting.

Unfortunately what we got is perhaps one of the worst quality Transformer toys weve had in years.

Excerpt from Blog: Astrotrain truly a mainstay of the Decepticons in fiction since he first turned up in the G1 cartoon waaay back in 1985. And why not he is a Giant Robot that turns into a Space Shuttle and a Train! Im sorry but things dont get much cooler than that! Despite being immensely popular in the cartoon and there rarely having been a G1 comic in the last decade that hasnt featured him extensively (always the troop transport arent ya, ya poor bugger! To think back in the cartoon you became god of a moon!) Astrotrain has received very few toys over the years. I suppose its not the easiest to design, a train and shuttle in one. But now we have one again and he is a Headmaster no less! So lets get on with the review of the Legends series LG40 Astrotrain!

Excerpt from Blog: Brainstorm, a character that has gone from relative obscurity to a fan favorite in recent years, thanks mainly to the More than Meets the Eye comic series. Now gone from being a bit player in the short lived season 4 of the US he is everyones favorite amoral weapons designer. However the version we are looking at today is an homage to his much larger television outing in the Japanese Headmasters series. So without further ado, from the Legends series lets have a look at LG39 Brainstorm.

Excerpt from Blog: Super Ginrai. Not just the Japanese version of Powermaster Optimus Prime but a character unto his own right. Finding himself to be not just an ordinary human but to be an actual Autobot Godmaster (hows that for a bitchin subgroup name!) who could bond with a Transector in order to don the visage of legendary Autobot leader Optimus Prime and fight the evil Destrons

or so the story goes. It may be a different character technically but in reality its pretty much the same damn toy. The G1 Super Ginrai and Powermaster Optimus had very few differences, even if one was a little Japanese dude obsessed with his big hair in a mech suit and the other was Optimus Prime on steroids.

Here we are 30 years later and we have a similar thing happening. The (US) Titans Return toy is Powermaster Optimus Prime whilst the retooled (JP) Legends version is LG35 Super Ginrai. Both toys have their pros and cons. Six months ago I reviewed the Optimus toy (which can be read HERE); today Im going to give a quick overview of the Legends Super Ginrai version and then most importantly engage in a comparison. This way you, my loyal readers, will know which to shell out your hard-earned money on.

Excerpt from Blog: Earth, fire, wind, water, heart go planet! By your powers combined I am cap. er Megatronia!

Yes, the Planeteers are all either in prison or selling their bodies on the street and Captain Planet himself is dead from taking a swim in the Yarra River, but a new team wielding all their powers has come along, and when they combine they dont become a blue guy with green hair and red undies they become a gigantic female robot bent on her enemies destruction!

With the Combiner Wars over to make way for Titans Return, the Unite Warriors line is also coming to a close with only two figures left. Today we will be looking at the second last one, a reimagining of the fan-created female Autobot team the Torchbearers. While this new team has yet to be given a name, they have a pretty nifty back story and are made up of some great looking figures! So lets take a look at Unite Warriors Megatronia!

Excerpt from Blog: Here we are up to Wave 4 of the Titans Return toys already! Today we will be looking the Autobot Deluxe figures from that wave; three figures which featured heavily in the IDW comic Last Stand of the Wreckers namely Perceptor, Kup and Topspin. The two former will be known to fans of the original 86 move and associated cartoon but for those not in the know, this is a Topspin based on the 1985 G1 toy rather than the DOTM movie version. Excerpt from Blog: Grapple. Perhaps while not the most unpopular, perhaps the least loved (does that mean the same thing?) of the 84/85 Autobot Car characters. Its surprising since the Constructicons were so popular and Grapple was the only Autobot equivalent, but not many people really digged our resident Autobot Architect. Nevertheless, the 85 toy was pretty cool and gave some variety to the Autobot lineup and we now see that replicated now 22 years later in the Masterpiece toyline with the newest figure Masterpiece Grapple.

Unfortunately what we got is perhaps one of the worst quality Transformer toys weve had in years.

Read my review of RESCUE BOTS QUICKSHADOW right HERE!

I've been meaning to mention this for a few weeks now, but never get around to it... :o

I bought a Quickshadow from ToysRUs when they were first sighted there last month, and worried about it being faulty as well. But I've been transforming it (pulling out the arms and pushing them back in) dozens of times without any problems. I even took it to the Melbourne meet for others to play with, without any issues... so maybe it is a common flaw, but not a guaranteed flaw.

My recommendation for anyone wanting Quickshadow (or already has one), to look for it at a Kmart or ToysRUs (if you can get to one), and buy one. Take it out of packaging before you go home, and if it doesn't work, exchange or get a refund. If it does work and you already had one that was faulty, take it back for a refund.

The "1-step" transformations aren't completely smooth on the RB toys, as there is usually some realignment of limbs needed, but there shouldn't be any locking up of the gears (like my RB mini Heatwave dino, and RID 1-step Underbite... which were both done from trying to transform it without instructions to know what parts to move).

I like how you qualified that since you know I live in the bush where neither of these stores are accessible. ;)

How about Toyworld? They are often regional... any convenient to you?
Because, the one near me just got in the Quickshadow wave, plus the new Flip-Changers... and even though they are more expensive than other places, you would be returning your faulty one to them for a refund or exchange (for something else).

Yeah we've got a tiny one not much bigger than a WIR. I'd say they never get toys in but just recently they got some of the RID combiner figures and wave 3 of the TR toys, both of which our Target never stocked. First new TF's they've had since TF4.

Sadly I've never seen a RB toy in there though

I know that this section is supposed to be for official Transformer products only but I figure these things are so ludicrous that Griffin will cut me a bit of slack :D

Excerpt from Blog: Wrist Rest Mouse Pads are all the rage these days. With more and more of us stuck in front of a computer at work or home for hours on end, the wrist can get sore. The whole idea of these kind of mouse pads is that they are filled with a squishy gel and are designed to be smooth and comforting to your wrist.

Then someone had the idea Hey, since we are making a gel filled mat anyway, why dont we shape the gel sacks like boobs?!

And thus an industry was born.

I'd like to thank all the Ozformer members who have followed along with my blog over the past 12 months. The Transformer content of my site has proven far more popular than anything else and my review of TR Soundwave has actually become number one on the Google search engine for that toy!

So just a big thank you to all of you who have read and a big thank you to Griffin for letting me post here, it's very much appreciated and I always get a bit of traffic from this site.

So here are the most popular Transformer posts of different catagories from the last 12 months. I hope for those that never read them you enjoy them and for those that did you might enjoy reading them again. And if you have any Transformer related stuff you would like to see featured on my site please shout out, I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Thank you all :)

Excerpt from blog: Being a dedicated JJJ listener I didnt listen to Fox FM back when I lived in Melbourne. But my girlfriend (now wife) did and on their morning show in 2006 they had a competition called Fan-Tastic! Essentially you sent in an email discussing what you were a rabid fan of and if you sounded interesting you would get a follow-up call. If that went well they would ring you one morning for a short interview about your obsession then ask you 3 questions on the subject. Each time you answered correctly and the money went up with the option to take the money at any time the max you could win was $500.

Well at my girlfriends suggestion I did indeed email them discussing my love of The Transformers. I received the follow up call not knowing that I was not on air I tried to be as amusing as possible. This got me on air the following week and well, best you watch the video and listen for yourself what happened eh!

TWO NEW TF BLOG POSTS!

Blog 1 Excerpt: The Robots in Disguise(15) toyline continues, despite being wound down somewhat to accommodate shelf space in shops for the upcoming TF5 toys. Today we will be looking at the latest wave which oddly does not involve semi-creature modes in any form. No, this wave consists of new versions of much loved (in two cases anyway) classic characters. Despite being part of the Combiner Force subline these figures do not combine, but rather try to seduce you with a mixture of new alt-modes and nostalgia. So lets take a look at the Warrior-class Robots in Disguise: Combiner Force Blurr, Windblade and Soundwave.

Excerpt from blog: Packing and moving. Truly a terrible job. Having to pack up the entire contents of a house and get them to a secondary desitnation safely is time consuming, back breaking and frankly boring. But you can add to that list a hefty amount of stress if you have something like an expensive collection you have to move.

Curretnly my collection consists of about 2000 figures and 1000 misc items so probably about 3000 pieces all up. Moving all this is very daunting. Not only the sheer scope of packing it all in the first place, but packing it all in such a way that nothing will get lost or broken. In this two part blog I will be sharing my tips for how to move your collection in such a way that it stays safe. And thus we will start with Part 1: Packing.

Sorting instructions alphabetically huh? Never though to do it that way but there's a certain logic to it over the "by series" order to track a particular one down. Might give that a go.

This is how I normally store some of my documents:
* I keep my instructions and catalogues sorted by series and faction in accordion/expansion document cases (https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/wc-prod-pim/JPEG_300x300/JB86000N_j_burrows_expanding_file_carry_case_31_po ckets_black.jpg).
* I keep my comics in cardboard magazine holders (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51bH2hYv%2BaL._SY300_.jpg), also displayed in order.
* I keep my accessories in a roller toolbox (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/65/0a/98/650a9879e234f94784b352b3e4a8348f.jpg) - although admittedly those are my excess accessories which aren't held by my toys. Moving made me appreciate just how many more accessories I actually have which are held by my toys, but I had to remove them one by one to minimise risk of say weapon handles/pegs snapping off if they're left in fists. I placed them in zip-lock sandwich bags which I chucked into the same boxes as the figures that were packed in there.

But this is pretty much how I normally store my instructions, catalogues, comics/books and excess accessories anyway, even when I'm not moving. So when it came to at least moving these things it was a matter of just carrying these things - I didn't need to pack them. And having this stuff sorted just makes it easier when you want to find it.
e.g. When I wanted to take comparison pics between MP5 and MP36 I had to retrieve my MP5 instructions (as MP5 is a toy that I absolutely loathe transforming ). This was easy for me as all I had to do was open the relevant expansion case to the MP Decepticon section and there it was. :)

Excerpt from Blog: Dirge, oh Dirge. Nobody loves you but me.

Dirge was my very first ever Transformer figure over 30 years ago and as such he holds a special place in my heart. For others not so much, arguably the least popular Conehead. He only ever used his special power of fear-inducement once (as far as I can remember) to freak out Silverbolt in a Marvel Comic and he even committed suicide when getting eaten by The Swarm in the G2 Comics. In IDW he has done a bit better for himself, even becoming a central character to a plot line that extended for some time. But whether you like Dirge or not, here he is perhaps the last outing for the Masterpiece Seeker mold. He comes with a very hefty price tag let s see if he is worth it.

Excerpt from blog: Here we are the fifth installment of the live-action Transformers movie franchise.

These movies have caused a lot of debate over the years. Many of the critics and your more traditional Transformer fans have hated them citing such things as poor plots, juvenile jokes and lack of characterization. However the general public has loved them all four previous movies still remaining in the top 100 highest grossing movies of all time.

So will Transformers: The Last Knight fare any better than the previous four with the die-hards? Lets find out!

Here is a random tip to help you package up your bots safely and lose weight at the same time! If you order Lite n Easy they come in big sturdy foam containers. Whilst you can leave the containers out the following week for collection, there is no cost if you keep them. Air them out then use them to pack away all your valuable bots. No need to worry about the bottoms of cardboard boxes falling out or damage if it is knocked as these things are tough.

Excerpt from Blog: Trypticon the big bad! The latest Titan Figure for the Titans Return line and the biggest Decepticon toy ever created!

However this titan has a titanic problem his hips!

Though they are cropping up far less (though still occasionally) in later waves, the first batch of this toy came with some major issues that were in turn causing major damage to a pretty expensive toy. These problems were:

1: The springs in the hips were far too strong and causing damage to the workings inside.

2: The teeth on the ratchet system for the hips were too big and would more often than not lock together instead of sliding over one another.

There have been quite a few fixes to these problems crop up on various Transformer sites and youtube. These have ranged from cutting the springs in half to address the strength issue to filing down the teeth of the ratchet. Some people have even removed the spring and half the ratchet altogether and replaced them with cardboard disks in order to turn the hips into a swivel system.

Well I am here to give you what I believe is the easiest answer to the spring and ratchet problems and guess what? No cutting, filing or permanent removal of parts is necessary! Follow the below instructions and your Trypticon will be ready to start smashing bots instead of his own hips in no time!

Excerpt from Blog: The Titans Return toyline has had a peculiar quirk. To get more toy sales Hasbro has been releasing figures that obviously have other characters alt-modes before those characters get released themselves. To this end we had a Sentinel Prime (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/toy-review-titans-return-galvatron-and-sentinel-prime/) which would obviously be retooled into Astrotrain (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/toy-review-lg40-astrotrain/) and a Sky Shadow which everyone knew would become Overlord (making some people regretful they spent a fortune on Carnifex (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/ask-trev-should-i-buy-r-17-carnifex/)). Now the last two obvious retools have been made and we get a look at Wave 5 which was what we all wanted Wave 3 to be. Excerpt from Blog: The Combiner Wars brought back a love of gestalts to the Transformer franchise that other lines like the Power Core Combiners failed to do. Despite the main line having moved onto Titans Return, we expect to see more combiner teams as part of the 2018 Power of the Primes toyline.

The Decepticon combiners characters were lets face it always a lot more interesting and popular than the Autobot ones. The likes of Superion and Defensor were there so their Decepticon counterparts had someone to ultimately be beaten by. In recent years, as well as in Combiner Wars, weve seen a lot of those Decepticons crop up in other lines. We had Devastator in Revenge of the Fallen, Bruticus in Fall of Cybertron and even Abominus in Beast Hunters. Excerpt from Blog: One great thing about being a Transformers fan is getting to meet other members of the fandom. Of course that was all but impossible in the pre-internet days (yes kids some of us are old enough to remember that) unless they went to your school. Nowdays you can meet Transfans from around the globe without ever having to leave your laptop!
Someone I have had great conversations online with over the years is fellow blogger Lisamaree (http://www.lisamaree.com/). Bring a former Sociology major (one of many degrees I have that proved to have no value in the real world) she fascinates me since she is a Kiwi who was living in Australia and now is raising a family in China. As a Transformers fan she is a great person to chat to and debunks the theory that you have to be some sad virgin male living in his parents basement to be one of us.
Here are Lisamarees answers to questions about her passion for all things Autobot.

Dear Checkout-Lady from Woolworths,

I just wanted to write you a quick note, apologizing for the fact that the way I live my life doesnt seem to meet with your approval. Maybe I should have explained myself properly at the time, but let me make it up to you by doing so now...

But... why the severe judgment for spending a piddling $5 on a Transformer anyway? I wasnt using the money to buy myself booze or smokes. I wasnt buying myself chocolate or sweets or junk food. I wasnt betting it on a horse or sticking it in a pokies slot. I wasnt earmarking the money to buy weed or pills or get a blowjob in some dingy back alley. I was buying a little toy. Out of all the things I could be spending money on a teeny action figure should rate pretty low on the objectionable scale.

Excerpt from Blog: You know, its not all gravy being Big Angry Trev. I know what perceptions that a lot of the public hold of me; that I eat imported lobsters off plates of gold, served up by nubile & busty fangirls who pay for the privilege of catering to the every whim of their idol.

But no, sometimes its damn hard work. Especially when your online fandom want a real life public appearance. On this site, of course I am known to you all as Big Angry Trev, purveyor of whimsy and wisdom. Then to the Transformers community I am known as Big Transformer Trev, collector extraordinaire and Ozformer of the Year. Its an honor to be venerated by ones peers on the world wide web but sometimes you have to give a little something back. You need to show up, shake a few babies, kiss a few hands and generally let people feel the warm glow of bathing in the light of your reflected glory.

To this end, I made a public appearance at the Collectormania Toy & Hobby Fair in Penrith.

Dare I say it but this is the only time I find an RID toy better than a TR one (I'm referring to TR Twinferno).
1. ROBOT MODE - They both break even here. The RID version suffers from hollow leg syndrome. While the TR version suffers from bricks for feet syndrome.
2. ALT. MODE - The RID version gets the win due to originality (it's a real attention grabber of a jet) and the hot rod flames strengthen it. The TR version on the other hand is a Godzilla movie monster with a blocky body and loose hind quarters.

Interesting point of view :)

Excerpt from Blog: When the first live action Transformers movie was released a decade ago, I went a bit nuts when the toys were first released. The first day I saw them I horrified my girlfriend by coming home with two full garbage bags of action figures and a $700 dent in my bank account.

Now here we are at movie five and restraint is much easier. For the first time I am not buying a toy of every character that was in the movie. Who needs yet another Bbee camero? So Im buying toys only of new characters that showed up in the flick, saving me both cash and shelf space.

Thankfully I was able to put restraint on hold the other day when I finally came across some of these new characters in toy form. So lets take a look at three new Autobots to grace the silver screen and subsequently get turned into toy-candy Steelbane, Cogman and Sqweeks.

Excerpt from Blog: The Dinobots a fan favorite! Is there anyone that grew up with the G1 cartoon that doesnt have a soft spot for this gang of cantankerous Autobots? Turning up in the Transformers Animated cartoon and even the live action movies the Dinobots have appealed to new generations as well. Its easy to see how; Dinosaurs are cool, Robots are cool transforming alien robots that turn from giant robots into space dinosaurs? Its a no-brainer they are awesome!

The new Power of the Primes toyline has finally given lots of Generations collectors what they have been crying for for years, new versions of many of these classic characters. Some have come out in the first wave whilst others are slated for later in the year and they come with not only a new character but a new trick they combine!

But for now, lets take a look at the four Dinobots that have been released so far Grimlock, Slug, Swoop and Slash.

Excerpt from Blog: Overlord a gigantic Decepticon despot! From the Japanese G1 continuity, he was the staunch foe of Ginrai and was manned by both a male and female Powermaster. A cool character with an even cooler toy! This character has become very popular with Western TF fans of recent with his outings in the IDW comics where he has been portrayed as a truly unstoppable psychopath.

This rise in notoriety has facilitated Overlord getting his first toy in a long time in the Titans Return line, and like most toys from Hasbro he has also cropped up in the Takara Tomy line. So today we look at the Legends toy LG 60 Overlord.

Excerpt from Blog: The short-lived Season 4 of the US Transformers cartoon introduced (or perhaps jammed in is a more accurate term) a slew of new characters in its 3 episodes. Notably very few of these characters had Earth modes, showing the direction the brand was heading in. Also new concepts were introduced in these episodes such as Targetmasters and Clones.

Three (or should I say four) of these characters were the Autobot Clones Fastlane and Cloudraker and the Decepticon Targetmaster Slugslinger with his diminutive partner Caliburst. Lucky for these characters, the G1 cartoon continuity in Japan continued with the series Headmasters, in which these guys got a far greater outing.

As the characters were more prominent in Japan, I decided to get the Legends versions of all these guys, so today we will be looking at LG55 Slugslinger with Caluburst and LG58 Autobot Clones Fastlane & Cloudraker.

However it appears Mr Joyce has already found a way to circumvent these new rules with the hiring of his new primary aide. And now the biggest toy stores to find in this land ToysRUs are shutting their doors forever.

He was an Autobot that could not only turn into a Pontiac Fiero , but also transform into a Decepticon in order to act as a spy! Despite his abysmal appearance in Season 4 of the cartoon, the toy was so cool that it proved extremely popular, and lead to Doubledealer expanding upon the concept the following year. now we have the Amazon exclusive Power of the Primes Punch/Counterpunch. Excerpt from Blog: A few months ago the Transformers: Trading Card Game was released. Much like Magic: The Gathering, this game focuses on using different characters whom you instil with different defences, attacks and upgrades, to take out the opposing team, all whilst taking advantage of their own unique abilities.

Now, not long after its release, we have the first committed deck since the Starter Pack the Metroplex Deck. Due for international release on November 16th, this deck appears to offer a whole new element to what is quickly becoming a popular and addictive game.

Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro have been kind enough to send me for free both the Starter Pack as well as the new Metroplex Deck so as to do a review on this blog. It should be noted that I have received no financial remuneration to write this, nor have either company tried to dictate the content of my review. So Id like to thank Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro for their generosity.

Yep - been running the blog for 2 1/2 years at the cost of over a grand and it finally scored me $50 worth of freebies from Hasbro :p

Excerpt from Blog: Finally we seem to be getting some of the Wave 3 figures from the Power of the Primes toyline more widely available on Australian shelves, a long wait for many of us who no longer do our shopping overseas online due to the GST (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/hard-times-for-aussie-collectors/). There is only one Voyager class figure in this wave and its a character that had their last Generations toy come out a full 10 years ago everyones favorite firetruck Inferno.

Excerpt from Blog: Scalpers the bane of collectors everywhere.

Nasty little parasites who eagerly buy up all the figures they can and then flog them for twice the price. Evil pricks without an empathy or remorse.

Now I want to make a distinction here. I dont consider scalpers people who sell rare old toys for a lot of money. Yes sometimes the prices they ask are ludicrous, but there is no rule saying you have to buy what they are selling. You need food. You need water. You need sleep and shelter. You dont need action figures.

No, what I consider a scalper is some unscrupulous sod that goes from store to store (and even online) when a new figure is released, buys every single one, then is selling them on eBay half an hour later for twice the price or more. In those cases you are a scalper sod. A prick of the highest level! Because you are stealing the opportunity for others to buy the item fair and square and then making them come to you to buy it at an inflated cost.

Look I think we have to hassle scalpers on eBay. We are a small community so we hassle their listing, take their toys and let them know Transformers are not worth fucking with.

We should be all over the Aus ebay sellers. We identify scalpers, we neg them, we dispute them, etc.

Excerpt from Blog: Over the past 5 live-action Transformer movies weve come to expect certain things. From the humans: wacky, half-psychotic characters and overly-sexualized stereotypes. From the robots: zero characterization and dialogue, overly-complex bodies and fight scenes one has no hope of following. Throw in a few convoluted plots and some smutty humour and badda-bing badda-boom, another TF movie pumped out by Hollywood.

However Transformers 6 Bumblebee, seems to be something different. Something GOOD!

What a delightful breath of fresh air this movie is! It contains none of the issues listed above, and replaces them with relatable characters, great dialogue and a lot of heart!

Excerpt from blog: Back in the late 80s the Transformers brand was starting to suffer. Something new had to be tried. So in direct reaction to the popularity of Micro Machines, the Transformers made Micromasters. These were actually pretty cool little toys! You could get them in packs of 4 or 6, some had bases, some could combine, and they were pretty cheap to get. I know for myself I collected most of the Decepticon ones to try and even out the amount of each faction I had as a kid, having to track down the Autobot ones as an adult. Micromasters got a brief revival in the Universe line in 2003, but didnt grab the toy consumers imagination.

Here we are in 2019 and Micromasters are back! And the first wave of the War For Cybertron: Seige line is made up of 3 pairs, each pair making up half the members of their original patrol team. So lets have a look at some classic G1 characters, most we havent seen in 30 years!

Most artwork is taken from existing assets, TF legends game, IDW Comics and Box Art.

There have been a couple of new pieces produced, mostly by Marcelo Matere, this includes, the Springer triple changer art, Blitzwing jet alt and Dreadwing combined art.

There is more being worked on we/I just haven't seen it yet.

Excerpt from Blog: Cyberverse has been trotting out a lot of characters that originated in G1. Some of these toys could be considered an improvement on their originators, others have been woefully compromised by putting in half-arsed gimmicks (such as Acid Storms Toxic Slice) and being overly simplified for Warrior-Class toys.Today we look at a character that has only cropped up in a couple of flashbacks so far in the Cyberverse cartoon, but has still warranted a toy. I dont attend meets, I dont go to pop culture conventions, hell I dont even get to visit toy stores. So when it comes to talking to others about a shared hobby I have to rely almost solely on the internet.

But the way a large segment of the fandom has been going in the last few years, I find myself thinking more often than not why I bother.

So when I go home tonight, I wont be surfing the big Transformer sites. I'm going to try my best to practice what I'm preaching and be a chilled out fan. Even though this has been touted as Anime we are getting a CGI cartoon like the Power of the Primes trilogy rather than some stylized Japanese animation. Based mainly on the Siege Toyline, but also reminiscent of the opening sequence to the 2018 Bumblebee Movie, this cartoon has kept many of us in keen anticipation and is set in the final stages of their war on Cybertron.

Having done the most popular and well known female Transformer characters such as Arcee, Black Arachnia, Elita-1 and Windblade, the makers are now moving on to the B-Listers of the femmebot world. Excerpt from Blog: Transformer fans sometimes fight over the silliest things - then I guess that's what the Internet is for. One of the most enduring arguments over the decades has been 'which was a better series: Generation One or Beast Wars'.

Personally I've never really weighed in on the debate as I enjoy them both. Both had some great cartoon episodes, both produced some fantastic toys, both have contributed a huge amount to the enduring Transformers mythos. So why the debate even exists is beyond me.

But exist it does.

In an effort to bring decades of arguing to an end I have examined the issue and, through scientific experimentation and logical deduction, found an answer to this long pondered question.

Excerpt from Blog: The Warrior Class toys from the Cyberverse line had gotten a reputation for being pretty poor, and for the most part that rep was deserved. The simplistic paint jobs, transformations and lacklustre modes have made many of these figures an easy pass for most collectors.

However thankfully, like the cartoon which got pretty damn good in seasons 2 and 3, the powers that be decided to improve the Cyberverse toyline too. And they have done so by introducing the Deluxe Class. This class is used by the Generations line and usually involves a higher degree of sophistication in all facets when compared to the Warrior Class, and of late has included blast effects that can be attached to characters weapons.

So lets have a look at the first wave of the Cyberverse Deluxe Class figures Bumblebee, Optimus, Megatron and Shockwave.

Both were OK looking, but of course not brilliant and made of extremely cheap materials. This new classification of toy size was for those characters that were much bigger than even the likes of Optimus and Megatron in the G1 cartoon and the fans wanted a toy to match.

So far we had only had Jetfire, and what a damn cool toy he turned out to be! This year we have gotten our second Commander Class toy. The Space Dragon with an ego almost as big as his hull, we get Sky Lynx.

Excerpt from Blog: The slow release of the Studio Series Constructicons continues. Some see it as a good thing, not overloading their budgets. Others see it as an irritation, their frustration to build Devastator from Revenge of the Fallen growing week by week. For me personally it has been neither. As someone who is happy enough with the ROFT Devastator I already own, this Studio Series has simply been a chance to fill out my collection with those onscreen Cons who never received an actually decent toy before such as Scrapmetal.

Today we are looking at one such character. The leader of the Constructicons in G1, who like Long Haul and Mixmaster got to actually keep their proper name and traditional alt-mode for the movieverse, we are looking at Scrapper.

A lot of that can be put down to people who loved things in their youth during the 80s now being (supposedly) grown-ups with disposable income on their hands.

Well My Little Pony is happy to jump on that cash-in bandwagon with a new line of Crossover collectible figures. These range from Dungeons and Dragons to even Power Rangers. We've been waiting 34 years, and it could be some more months for me till my order via Little Toy Company arrives. Having said that, in my youth I never really expected these to exist anyway, so this is a bonus. I'd have accepted the Quintesson as an Action Master packaged with, say, Slitherfang to justify it as a Transformer. The prison mode is a bit random but does nothing to detract from the character mode, and the gimmick is a blast. Can you fold the faces back down once you've removed the prison cell? If so then it is a cute accessory to stand alongside the mostly intact figure. Either way, I'm looking forward to this bonkers toy. :)

Am I the only one who has a problem with Siege Mirage having the front of a car on the backside of its car mode, so that it looks like it could drive in both directions. Did they not even try to hide it... or not have a fake car front as the robot chest, which defeats the whole point of having car kibble in robot mode if that kibble isn't even part of the car mode.

Yeah I know... welcome to 2019. I'm a "little" behind on opening up my toys, and opened up both Siege Mirage toys on the weekend, to major disappointment. (and I couldn't find a Mirage toy review in this section, and this was the only review posting in here for it - and even the review on Trev's blog doesn't even mention the front-car-butt)
I do like the robot mode, but the car mode is very deformed... so why not deform it more and hide the fake car kibble.

Yeah, I know about Spinister... it certainly caused a stir among fanboys at the time (and technically, Rotorstorm has 3 cockpits, as the chest deco is supposed to resemble the original toy having the cockpit on the chest).

When you have mirage in hand the whole front-car butt thing kind of isnt a thing if he is in car mode facing forward or if he is in robot mode with other bots. You only notice it when its being picked up in car mode.

I thought it might of annoyed me as well but its only when watching people review it and it is being constantly being rotated that you notice it.

Excerpt from Blog: Excerpt from Blog: The original Headmaster Horrorcons were G1 toys that kinda had it all. They were triple changers, they had beast modes, they had jet modes AND they were Headmasters where the Nebulan partner also triple-changed becoming the head of the robot and of the beast. Combine all this with the fact that they also showed up in the season 4 of G1 cartoon before its end and these were sought after figures!
However for those wanting representations of these figures but cant afford the huge amounts the originals go for fear not! They are back in the new toylines! Excerpt from Blog: Transformer fans had mixed reactions when we saw the return of the Micromasters a couple of years ago. On the one hand it was great to get new versions of characters we hadnt seen since 89/90. On the other their joints were often weak and their combined weapons modes were more often than not fairly crap.

Then this year we got a new spin on the whole Micromaster gimmick. Back in the day some of them had bases that transformed from things like airports into battle stations with Micromasters manning them very cool with a lot of play value. Now those classic bases are coming back but now have a third and fourth mode robot and Modulator armor/weaponary.

The first of these figures released was earlier this year in the Earthrise line with Ironworks. So lets see how his Decepticon counterpart is getting on in the new millennium with Generations Selects Greasepit.

Transformer Talk will be a brief chat about anything Transformers people would care to know, followed by a Transformer song picked by the audience.

So in the comments section of the post on my blog, nominate something you would like me to talk about. It could be as simple as Who is your favourite Combaticon to something more overarching such as What is your opinion on the Cyberverse cartoon and toyline as a whole.

Also, nominate which song from the following list you would like to hear played. For my second show and the first week of the competition I will be playing a song from the 1986 Animated Movie.

The song with the most votes will get played this Thursday the 10th of December 2020 after 7pm.

‘What is the worst figure in your collection and why should we all own it?’

Well Steve, given I’m at the 4500 mark for the amount of Transformer action figures I own, there are a fair few contenders for the mantle of Worst. So lets narrow it down to Transformer figures that actually transform and go from there:

Excerpt from Blog: Since pictures of the The Transformatorium have begun to circulate on various social media around the globe, I get asked a lot of questions. Much of the time, these are questions I have been asked many times before.

So to address this, I put the call out on FB and Twitter for people to put forth their queries that I could answer in a Frequently Asked Questions blog, so in the future I could quickly direct people to it rather than type out the same answers yet again. Don’t get me wrong, I love people taking an interest! This will simply be a bit of a time-saver all round ;)

And what better place to start than where the whole shebang kicked off – G1! Listed sequentially, and with accompanying photographs, here is the G1 Autobot toys I have amassed over the last 35+ years.

Excerpt from Blog: This question comes from Katrina in Sydney:

Pipes and Huffer have the same alt mode but different robot modes. Which is your favourite?

It’s true that most of the 1986 Autobot Mini-Vehicles are just slight retools of their 1984 counterparts. However Huffer and Pipes are the exception. As well as a new colour scheme and face sculpt, the Transformation from Robot Mode from Vehicular mode was slightly changed. Instead of the cab of the truck becoming a hood as it did with Huffer, it became a backpack for Pipes.

But are their alt-modes really the same?

Well now we have the third offering - Bumblebee. And lets face it, who didn’t see this coming eh? Bumblebee is in everything. I mean, who did you think it was going to be - Blot? So how does Bumblebee stack up against his predecessors? Lets take a look!
