Hisashi Yuki has posted (https://twitter.com/TFYUKI/status/729621315011760128) a silhouette of what appears to be Sky Reign:

Great!

Now if they would let us know if they are doing a Victorion or the G2 combiners I'd know if I should get the Hasbro versions or wait for TT versions.

Popular theory at the moment is that his right leg is Ratchet, because it looks like the First Aid mold, though I guess it could always be Hoist or something.

Would be nice to get the rest of the 84-85 bots in CW/UW toys (maybe make grapple/inferno remolds of Hot Spot/Bruticus?).

Anyway, hope there's some surprises in store!

They need to go with my idea (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showpost.php?p=522380&postcount=290) for a big old Energon/Superlink homage. NEED.

Bonus: the combined form's name would be Power Lynx!

I'm more interested in what they'll name him, can't imagine it'll just be Sky Reign.

I wonder what their re-tooling budget is like? Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I hope they tweak Sky Lynx so he can separate into his two modes.

Very happy to see anything new and UW related. I think Takara are so far knocking it out of the park.

Yeah very wishful, but I'm with you there. Ive seen skylynx a lot in local kmarts, every now and then I'll decide to hunt him down and make sky reign, but then i see him in the flesh again and get a reminder of his looks (not that big a fan), and that maybe if he could seperate i'd be keen but always walk away without the purchase. That and wheeljack didnt really do anything for me but he's grown on me.

Had some gift vouchers from work bonus and found all 5 members saturday morning and was " < this close to buying them, but got a desk for my garage instead, so glad i didnt becauselike ampoldj said i thought computron would be the last UW. Maybe they can have some real shiny gold at least (and whiter white?).

I am guessing if he is an EX he's going to be hard to get (and have a higher price tag to him). So that means I'll need to decide quickly to make sure I get a pre-order in.
Does the EX mean he is for an upcoming event in Japan?

Decisions, decisions... we already have the Hasbro Sky Reign set... unless there is something spectacular not sure I can justify 2 of this group of combiners... but Takara really is doing a much nicer job with these combiners.

Ah - first world problems! ;)

Hmmm if the decos are decent maybe? Or a different lineup of limbs... As it stands from Hasbro's Sky Reign lineup I only have Sky Lynx

Bugger. I'd quite like a standalone Sky Lynx, but have no interest in the limbs, much less at Exclusive box-set prices.

so far all EX suffix means Japan Event exclusives but im wondering if Hasbro Asia also release these items as well.

if PC will get this might have a go

Skylynx yes. Box set prices, no thanks. This Scramble city limb shenanigens hasn't been handled so well by TT.

oooh that'd be a nice coup, though I thought there'd be issues with the club recently doing Ratchet out of the same mould? Or was it only ever the other way around?

Ratchet wasn't a Club head. It was an unused Hasbro head and there was no mention of the Club getting exclusive use of it, so Hasbro and TakaraTomy can use it if they want.
Same with the Subscription Counterpunch and Toxitron heads... which might yet come into play in Japan at some time as well.

I too don't really have any interest in this as a combiner, I'd like to see what they're doing with Sky Lynx individually but I think in this rare case I'll be looking to pick up Sky Lynx locally.

Oh I know it was unused, but I thought there were some names that the club took that Hasbro/Takara wouldn't be able to use for a set time frame, or did that only work the other way around?

I believe Hasbro/Takara retains full ownership and control of the IP when it comes to it's licencees.

griffin
1st June 2016, 07:47 PM
Yep, no matter what a license holder is allowed to do with a Transformers name, concept or design, Hasbro can do whatever they want with it, because Hasbro are the ones who have to approve its use, and own any trademarks for those names to be used on those products (even Club toys, which is why some still don't have Gen1 names on them despite being Gen1 homage toys that aren't for retail release).
And Hasbro have even produced some retail toys based on characters created by FunPub (TFPrime Flamewar, Hero Mashers Heatwave).

As I was expecting, Ratchet is in the Japanese team... replacing Smokescreen.

Non-combined form has a red mouth, red weapon-thingies, an autobot symbol on his bird head. Combined mode head has a silver mouth/teeth and autobot symbols on his chest.

Rest looks largely the same. Maybe pigment/tone of the red/blue/gold/silver is different but will need to see more direct comparisons.

The alt mode Wheeljack looks great however I haven't caved on UW yet (I keep returning to the thought of "It's more G1, but it's still quite different from G1" across the whole line).

As it is, I've bought all the CW combiners, as well as voyagers and legends where either a) I've really dug it (and often regretted it after, in the interest of streamlining my collection) or the legends class is either a keeper (ie: the insecticons) or an accessory to the combined mode (Powerglide, Groove).

Limited release deluxes are in robot mode next to the combined mode (ie: DLX Groove). Living in hope that there will be a Blast Off but, given the Hasbro version was the same class (unlike Groove), I don't see a shuttle coming from Hasbro.

This makes no sense, seeming Slingshot and Wildrider got released properly (althogh as i type this... their names weren't used by the accessory.... maybe thats what your meaning..)

Make him an online only release for next may and/or call him "Spacefriend" and it'd be fine.

I think a general release of UW/CW Ratchet by Hasbro is still unlikely though. Thanks BotCon.

The UW Lynxmaster should still be a couple days away from official release, so by the end of this week we might see some people get some comparison photos posted up somewhere.
I should be getting it the following week, so if I don't see anyone else post up photos, I will.

Just noticed in a Lynx Master review that TakTom went with yellow stars on Hound...

Oh how my heart skipped a beat (in a good way)

also had me thinking I should get my 2 cents in before people bagged them for the decision.

My old man restores military vehicles, and put a big yellow star on an Armoured scout car 20 odd years ago. So i've grown up with this. the reason...

Yellow Variants
In January, 1942 HQ Armored Force issued orders that all armored vehicle markings were to be
painted in Air Corps Yellow, No. 4 lusterless. A yellow star was adopted for armored vehicles.
On most tanks the star was applied to the turret sides, of at least 22” in diameter, with a 4” stripe
running around the turret. The adoption of the yellow star and markings for the Armored Force
is odd as the rest of the Army was in the process of adopting the white star. In August 1942,
AR-850-5 formalized the use of a white star as a form of national insignia.

So it was only 8 months, but it's out there.... and seeming Hound had an upgrade from the G1 Jeep, why not yellow as well!
