So, I've decided to have a go at customising some MP cassettes to create the other G1 cassettes. I've got no experience with hobby painting, and I'm only using run of the mill paints, as I don't expect to turn this into a hobby.

Since only the con bots have MP treatment I'm only aiming for all characters that share those molds. Hopefully MP Blaster becomes a thing with cassettes so I can complete this project.

The aim is to masterpiece-ify the following - Enemy, Wingthing, Stripes, Garboil, Howlback, Sundor, Glit, and Flip-sides. At this stage I'm focusing on the animal modes - I don't think they will be getting transformed.

I'm using some YOTG cassettes, and a KO Ratbat.

Here's the first progress shots, on Howlback and Glit:

If you have a spare Goatal Soundwave, may I recommend repainting him as Shattered Glass Soundwave? ;)

I don't, but I think the cassettes are enough - I'm not planning on shattered glass simply because that almost doubles the number of cassettes (and then calls for another soundwave and blaster...) I stretched myself with the 3 kiss player cassettes, that'll do :p

I got the ehobby SG vs pack, so Im not totally without

It's been a little while but I have progressed a fair bit - managed to basically complete 5 of the 8 planned characters.
I thought that gloss paint would better match the other MP cassettes but they're probably a little too shiny in comparison, and they look even shinier in pics, but ah well.

I present the Masterpiece Cobalt Sentries Garboil and Howlback, MP Enemy and Wingthing, and MP Kiss Player Glit!

(Ignore the raised weapons as paint is still drying :p)

Very nice!
I can see what you mean by the gloss, I have Frumble here at my work desk, the only really shiny element is the metallic paint highlights, the rest is fairly matte. perhaps if you applied a satin clear coat it might take the shine off.

It's interesting how the white paint makes the join lines stand out so much more on the Ravage mould.
